Method for cooling a gas turbine rotor The present invention relates to a method for cooling a gas turbine rotor, the running blades of which are inserted in circumferential grooves, to which the cooling medium is fed at least from one end face of the rotor through axial channels, whereupon it flows outward through radial openings. The invention also relates to a rotor structure which is particularly suitable for the cooling method according to the invention.
The efficiency of a gas turbine depends on the size of the temperature difference between the working medium in the turbine and the compressor. For economic reasons, one therefore strives to make this difference large. Obviously, this requires the highest possible working temperature of the gas in the turbine. However, the strength of the materials and the required service life of the machine or the individual parts require an upper limit for the gas temperature. Since the turbine rotor is subject to very high mechanical loads and is surrounded by the hot working medium, the maximum permissible temperature of the gas is determined by the strength and service life of the rotor. It must therefore be cooled intensively.
It has already been proposed to supply a coolant to the circumferential rotor grooves through channels, then to conduct this radially outward and finally to allow it to flow through axial rotor channels to the adjacent rotor blades. However, this arrangement still offers the heat considerable conduction paths with low thermal resistance, so that the rotor body temperature is relatively high.
The shortcomings of the acquaintance can be avoided if, according to the invention, the coolant flow is divided into at least two partial flows at the end of the radial openings, which are passed through cooling grooves of the blade neck, and if one of the partial flows then directly through a gap between the blade plate and the rotor , the other partial flow, however, after exiting a corresponding gap over the blade plate to the subsequent diffuser flows. The advantage of the invention is that
that both the heat conduction paths over the rotor blade and over the rotor surface in the area of the guide rings have considerable thermal resistances, so that the highest rotor body temperature drops considerably.
By suitably designing the rotor ends, for example by choosing small, practically non-cooled end faces on which the heat dissipation is low, as well as thin, long shaft journals. design the temperature conditions so that the entire rotor body has an almost constant temperature. In this way, considerable thermal stresses are prevented. The rotor then only needs to be dimensioned with regard to the centrifugal forces and the material strength at the relevant rotor temperature.
Based on the drawing, which represents part of a gas turbine, the process according to the invention and the rotor structure according to the invention will be explained in more detail.
1 with the rotor body is designated, which has axial channels 2, 2 'which lead to circumferential grooves 3 in which the rotor blades are arranged. The hammer heads 4 of these blades have radial openings 5 which are connected to cooling grooves 6 of the blade neck 7. The blade plate is labeled with the number 8, the blade with the number 9. The drawing also shows the diffusers 10, which have plates 11 and labyrinth seals 12. The coolant flow a enters the axial cooling channels 2 from the end face of the rotor and divides here into the flows b and c.
The flow b divides in turn into two partial flows d and d ', which are passed through cooling grooves in the blade neck. The partial flow d passes through the gap 13 and the annular space 14 via the blade plate 8 to the next diffuser, to which the partial flow d 'flows directly via the gap 13'. The recesses 15 serve as an intermediate reservoir for the cooling air. The gaps 13 and 13 'are precisely calibrated for each stage and act as metering openings through which predetermined amounts of coolant flow.
In this way it can be achieved that the cooling medium only partially mixes with the hot working gases when it flows over the plates 8 or 11 and forms a protective layer in the immediate vicinity of the said plates. It can be seen that only a small heat flow to the rotor body can occur through the rotor blade, since the blade neck and the blade plate are intensively cooled. Furthermore, the rotor part, which is located in the area of the diffusers, only absorbs a small amount of heat, since the coolant flow d 'flows both over the plates 11 and through the labyrinths 12 and thus enables effective thermal shielding.
In the case of directly adjacent running blades, the cooling channels 5 will expediently form depressions of the hammer head surfaces running in the radial direction, so that the cooling medium flows radially outward between two running blades. If, however, spacers are provided between the rotor blades, the radial openings can each be provided between a rotor blade and an intermediate piece.
