Pulse motor and method of assembling the same The magnetic core of pulse motors used, for example, in slave clocks, is usually in the form of a U or horseshoe, the legs of which surround the rotor with the ends. The core usually consists of two or more parts to make it easier to place a solenoid on the core, which then requires precise adjustment of the air gap between the stator parts and the rotor when the two halves of the core are assembled.
In order to make the length of the connection and consequently the air gap adjustable, it has already been proposed to design the interacting ends of the core halves as steps or to leave lamellae or protruding parts on the two halves at the junction, which then mutually engage in the corresponding spaces. However, the adjustment work required on such a core consisting of two halves is bothersome and time consuming.
The disadvantages mentioned are eliminated by the present invention, according to which the pulse motor is characterized in that the magnetic core is provided with a recess for the rotor, said recess having a shape such that its walls form two opposing pole pieces and the core runs along it a plane parallel to both the direction of the center line of the poles and the center line of the rotor is divided into two halves.
The invention is described below with reference to an exemplary embodiment shown in the accompanying drawing, in which a magnetic core for a pulse motor is indicated by the reference number 1. At their opposite ends, the legs of the magnet core have a shape such that a recess 2 for a rotor 3 is formed. The rotor comprises a permanent magnet that creates two poles on the rotor, the position of said poles being indicated by the dashed lines 4. The recess 2 has a shape such that the walls of the same form two opposing pole shoes 5 and 6 which interact with the poles of the rotor via an air gap.
When a magnetic coil 7, indicated by dashed lines, is fed with pole alternating current pulses, a magnetic flux is generated through the pole shoes and the rotor in such a way that the rotor rotates by 180 with each current pulse.
In order to facilitate the installation of the magnetic coil 7, the core is divided into two parts along a plane 8 which runs parallel to the pole direction 9 and to the rotor axis. The advantage of this arrangement is that, if it should be necessary to change the size of the air gap by increasing or decreasing the distance between the pole pieces, it is sufficient to move the two halves along their contact surfaces 10, 11 in plane 8. Due to the fact that the parting plane is parallel to the pole direction, the pole shoes will remain arranged opposite one another during the entire shift.
In this way it is possible to adjust the air gap between the pole pieces and the rotor in a simple manner, for example by inserting a spacer into the air gap with a thickness which corresponds to the width of the desired air gap between the rotor and the two halves of the core, by pressing the two halves together and fixing them in this position. During the entire displacement along the parting plane, the end faces 10, 11 of the two halves remain in contact with one another, so that at the parting point

practically no air gap can arise and the magnetic resistance of the iron part of the magnetic circuit does not change perceptibly.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the parting plane 8 encloses an angle of approximately 45 with the plane of symmetry of the core. However, nothing stands in the way of choosing another angle, for example 60, if this is motivated by a suitable arrangement of the pole pieces or by other aspects of the construction.
According to the present invention, there is obtained a pulse motor which is simple and inexpensive in construction, the assembly of which is considerably simpler than the previously known arrangements.
