On a déjà décrit des appareils de ce genre dans lesquels 1. la mesure de l'azimut du plan vertical pas sant par le sondage par rapport aux direc tions géographiques est mesurée notamment par l'intermédiaire d'une boussole ou bar reau magnétique, constamment soumise à de faibles percussions ou vibrations au moyen, par exemple, d'un moteur actionnant un dispositif à excentrique ;
2. le dispositif de mesure de la déviation de l'axe du sondage par rapport à la verticale comporte un élément pivotant autour d'un axe de l'appareil destiné à rester constam ment parallèle à l'axe du sondage, cet élé ment pivotant portant un balourd qui se place alors constamment dans un plan ver tical passant par l'axe du sondage ou i 2ral- lèle à cet axe, tandis qu'un dispositif pen dulaire mobile dans le plan, contenant le balourd permet de mesurer à chaque ins tant la déviation de l'axe du sondage par rapport à la verticale ;
Apparatus for measuring the deviation of a sounding The present invention relates to an apparatus for measuring, as a function of the depth, the deviation of a sounding, that is to say at each measuring point, of a on the one hand, the angle made by the sounding with the vertical and, on the other hand, the azimuth of the vertical plane containing the axis of the sounding with respect to the geographical directions, and this in such a way that it is possible, thanks to a continuous measurement carried out along the boring, to know exactly the path of this one in the ground.
Apparatus of this type has already been described in which 1. the measurement of the azimuth of the vertical plane passing by sounding with respect to the geographical directions is measured in particular by means of a compass or magnetic bar, constantly subjected to low percussions or vibrations by means, for example, of a motor actuating an eccentric device;
2. the device for measuring the deviation of the axis of the sounding from the vertical comprises a pivoting element about an axis of the apparatus intended to remain constantly parallel to the axis of the sounding, this pivoting element bearing an unbalance which is then placed constantly in a vertical plane passing through the axis of the sounding or parallel to this axis, while a pen dular device mobile in the plane, containing the unbalance makes it possible to measure at each ins both the deviation of the borehole axis from the vertical;
3. the angles respectively assumed, on the one hand, by the magnetic bar and, on the other hand, by the pendulum, and which correspond, one to the azimuth of the deviation, and the other to the angle of deflection itself, are transferred to electrical components such as resistors mounted in circuits leading, at the surface of the ground, to appropriate measuring instruments.
The object of the present invention is to improve the operation of devices of this type and, in particular, to make the measurement of the angle of the sounding with the vertical more precise. It has been recognized, in fact, that, due to the friction on its axis,
the pendulum device does not always take exactly the vertical position. The device forming the subject of the invention comprising a pendulum oscillating with respect to the body of the device is characterized in that the axis of this pendulum is subjected to a wobbling movement so as to replace the coefficient of friction statics of the pendulum on its support by a dynamic coefficient of friction.
In practice, this result can be obtained in particular by giving the pivoting element carrying the unbalance, and which in turn supports the pivot axis of the pendulum, a wobbly movement obtained, for example, by giving the end of the support axis of said pivoting element carrying the unbalance a very small amplitude rotational movement. Moreover, this same movement can also be transmitted to the support of the magnetic bar, to give it, in a manner known per se, the suitable vibrations. The single figure of the appended drawing represents, by way of example, a longitudinal section of an embodiment of the apparatus forming the subject of the invention.
In this figure, 1 denotes the elongated cylindrical outer casing of the apparatus intended to be lowered into the borehole 2 to measure the deflection of the borehole. This device is suspended from a cable (not shown) which contains the various electrical conductors going to the resistors used for measuring the various angles.
This envelope 1, moreover, is laterally provided with elastic pads (not shown) serving to center it in the borehole, so that the longitudinal axis of the apparatus shown schematically in AA practically coincides with the axis of the sounding in the part of this sounding where the device is located in such a way that it is sufficient to measure the angles of this axis with respect to the various axes of geographical coordinates to obtain the desired measurement.
Inside the casing 1 is arranged a cage 3 carrying two pivot journals, 4 and 5, respectively mounted in spherical ball bearings 6 and 7. The cage of the ball bearing 6 is mounted concentrically to the axis of the device, in a transverse wall 8 of this device, while the bearing 7 is mounted eccentrically in a hub 9, capable of rotating in a ball bearing 10 carried by a transverse wall 11 fixed to the casing of the device, and focused on the AA axis.
The hub 9 is integral with an axis 12 driven in rotation by a motor by means of a transmission not shown, supplied from a current source arranged on the surface of the ground by electrical conductors of the cable. support.
Due to the eccentricity, the upper end of the journal 5 undergoes a rotational movement and the axis of the journal 4 and 5 describes a cone of half-angle at the top, moreover very small (less than 10 ) around the AA axis of the device.
Moreover, one of the sides of this cage has a rec tilinear slot 14, directed towards the axis of the cage (axis of the twists 4-5) and in which is housed a button 15 carried by the wall 11, if although, when the motor drives the shaft 12 in rotation, the axis of the cage takes, as has been said, a rotational movement, but the whole of said cage takes a swaying movement which is substantially the same. super position of an oscillating movement of amplitude 20 around an axis perpendicular to the plane of the figure and passing through the center of the journal 4, with an oscillating movement around the axis of the journals 4 and 5 .
Inside the cage 3 is disposed a part 16, carried by two pivots 17-18 pivoting in said cage, and this part 16 has an unbalance 19 which means that, whatever the angle of inclination of the 'axis of the pivots 17, 18, the plane defined by the unbalance and this pivot axis constantly tends to remain vertical. The angular position assumed by the unbalance relative to the point of the envelope 1 and, in particular, relative to points determined by the suspension of the compass which will be discussed below, is translated into electrical signals by a potentiometer 40 connected by means of the pivot 18 to the cage.
Perpendicular to this vertical plane is provided an axis 20 around which oscillates the pendulum 21 of the tines to indicate and measure the deviation from the vertical of the axis of the apparatus and, consequently, of the axis of the sounding. . This pendulum is integral, in a manner known per se, with a contact arm 22 cooperating with an electrical resistor 23 fixed relative to the body of the apparatus, so as to vary the value of a resistor mounted on a measuring circuit, value which gives the measurement of the angle of deviation indicated above.
One can easily see that, due to the swaying movement of the cage 3, the axis 20 of the pendulum also takes on a swaying movement and that the pendulum therefore tends to take a slight movement of oscillation around its axis, so that the coefficient of friction of the pendulum on its axis is a dynamic coefficient and that the pendulum tends, consequently, to oscillate around a direction very close to the vertical, without risk to be driven in another direction by the friction around its axis. It should be noted again that the pins 4-5 of the stand 3 in fact undergo a reciprocating rotational movement of very low amplitude.
This alternating rotational movement can be used to give the compass or magnet bar the desired vibrations. For this purpose, the journal 4 is extended below the plate 8 by a plate 25 driving by a finger 26 another plate 27 from which is suspended, by means of a ball bearing 28, the support 29 of the compass 30. 31 designates the control device known per se intended to transmit the movement of the magnetic bar 32 of the compass to an adjustable resistor 33 making it possible to transmit to the surface of the ground, in a manner known per se, the value of the angle of the compass bar relative to the body of the device.
It can be seen that the support of the compass, due to the movement of the plate 27, is subjected to an oscillatory movement around its axis making it possible, in a manner known per se, to reduce the coefficient of friction of the compass around it. its axis.
