Fuel injection pump for optional diesel operation or diesel-gas operation The invention relates to a fuel injection pump for optional diesel operation or diesel-gas operation, with two pump pistons, of which one piston has a smaller stroke volume only for pumping liquid ignition fuel when operating with gas has than the other in diesel operation, the entire amount of liquid fuel promoting Kol ben.
In the known injection pumps of this type, a special pressure valve is assigned to each of the two pump pistons. If now both diesel operation and diesel-gas operation after a drip of the injection nozzle and thus a rapid Ver coking of the nozzle openings is to be avoided, both pressure valves must be designed in such a way that they relieve the pressure in the end of the injection process pressure line leading from the injection pump to the injection nozzle. This is particularly essential when both pump pistons feed the same injection nozzle of the internal combustion engine.
In this case, however, the pressure valve for the quantity of ignition fuel must also have dimensions that are similar to those of the pressure valve for the main quantity of fuel in diesel operation.
According to the invention, these disadvantages are avoided in that both pump pistons deliver via a common pressure valve to the same injection nozzle of the internal combustion engine and the pump piston delivering the amount of ignition fuel controls the delivery channel of the pump piston delivering the main amount of fuel leading to the pressure valve.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows the upper part of an injection pump in longitudinal section when set for diesel-gas operation. Fig. 2 shows a section along line II-II and Fig. 3 shows a section along line III-III in Fig. 1 when setting for .Diesel operation, each on a larger scale.
In an only partially drawn housing 1 of an injection pump sits a. Pump cylinder 2 with a pump piston 3. A second pump cylinder 4 is placed coaxially on the upper face of the pump cylinder 2. A pin 5 engages in the two pump cylinders 2 and 4 and secures their mutual rotational position.
A pump piston 6 slides in the pump cylinder 4, which is coupled to the pump piston 3 by a T-head and T-slot connection in such a way that it participates in both axial displacements and rotational movements of the pump piston 3. A nipple 7, which is screwed into the pump housing 1, presses the pump cylinder 4 via a seal 8 against the pump cylinder 2 supported in the pump housing 1.
On the pump cylinder 4 sits a valve body 10 with a movable valve member 11, which is pressed in the closed position GE signed by a spring 12 on its seat in the valve body. In this position, the valve member with a cylin drical approach 14 is immersed in its guide bore in the valve body 10. The spring 12 is supported on a connection piece 15 which is pressed against the valve body 10 by a union nut 16 screwed onto the nipple 7 and in the process presses it against the pump cylinder 4.
The connection piece 15 with the pump outlet opening 17 serves to connect a line, not shown, which leads to the injection nozzle of the internal combustion engine, also not shown.
In the pump housing 1, an annular space 18 surrounding the pump cylinder 2 is provided, into which a fuel inflow opening 19 opens. The wall of the pump cylinder has transverse channels 20 and 21, both of which open into the annular space and serve as inlet openings. The channel 21 also serves as a return flow opening. A longitudinal channel 22 in the pump cylinder 4 connects the working chamber 23 of the pump piston 3 via a transverse bore 24 with the guide bore of the pump piston 6.
The pump piston 3 has a recess 27 which is partially delimited by a helical control edge 26 and which is permanently connected to the pump working chamber 23 via a longitudinal groove 28. The pump piston 6 has a recess 30 which is connected via a radial bore 31 to a longitudinal bore 33 opening into its working chamber 32. On the side opposite the recess 30, the pump piston 6 has a second recess 35, the lower end of which is at the same axial height as the lower end of the recess 30.
However, the recess 35 extends upwards to the upper end of the pump piston 6.
The transverse channel 21 is widened like a turkey at its end opening into the annular space 18. A screw 38 seated in the pump housing 1 protrudes with its shaft end into this extension and thus secures the pump cylinder 2 against rotation.
The pistons 3 and 6 are driven by a cam, not shown, against a return spring, also not shown. The Kol ben 3 and 6 can be rotated by a rack, not shown, the longitudinal movements of which are transmitted in the usual, but also not shown manner via a gear to the piston 6 and thus also to the piston 3.
The pistons 3 and 6 of the injection pump are shown in the rotational position that they assume when the internal combustion engine is operated with gas and a small amount of liquid fuel as the ignition fuel, that is, with diesel-gas operation. The two pump pistons are drawn in their bottom dead center position. The two pump working spaces 23 and 32 have filled with fuel from the annular space 18 via the channels 20, 21 and the channel 22 during the previous suction stroke.
In the rotational position of the pistons drawn in FIG. 1 and set by the aforementioned toothed rack, the longitudinal groove 28 of the pump piston 3 is in permanent communication with the return flow opening 21. During the pressure stroke, all of the fuel displaced by the pump piston 3 is therefore fed back into the annular space 18 via the groove 28 and the return flow opening 21. The fuel displaced by the pump piston 6 is also pushed into the annular chamber 18 via the pump working chamber 23 until the end of the channel opening 24. After completion of the mouth opening 24, the pressure in the pump work space 32 of the piston 6 increases.
As a result, the movable valve member 11 of the pressure valve is lifted from its seat and, after its cylindrical extension 14 has emerged from its guide bore, opens the passage to the pump outlet opening 17 and thus to the injection nozzle. The pump piston 6 now delivers fuel to the injection nozzle until its recess 30 controls the transverse bore 24 and thus connects the pump working chamber 32 via the bores 33 and 31 and the channel 22 to the pump working chamber 23 and the annular chamber 18.
At this moment the injection process caused by the piston 6 ends and the valve member 11 lowers under the action of the spring 12 on its seat. The pressure valve increases the volume between the pressure valve by dipping the cylindrical extension 14 into its guide bore and the pressure line lying on the injection nozzle and thereby lowers the pressure in this line, so that the injection nozzle is prevented from spraying. The fuel injected into the highly compressed gas-air mixture in the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine ignites itself and ignites this mixture.
When the internal combustion engine is operated with liquid fuel, that is to say with pure diesel operation, the pump pistons 3 and 6 are rotated into the position shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
In this position, only the part of the recess 27 of the pump piston 3 limited by the inclined control edge 26 cooperates with the return flow opening 21, while the longitudinal groove 28 is no longer, as in the rotational position of the piston according to FIG. 1, with the transverse channel 21 in connection stands. The recess 35 of the pump piston 6 is now facing the transverse bore 24.
During the pressure stroke, after the inlet openings 20 and 21 are closed, the pump piston 3 is now able to deliver fuel through the channel 22 into the Pum penraum 32 and via the open pressure valve 11 to the injection nozzle until the inclined control edge 26 opens the return opening 21. In this rotational position of the piston, the pump piston 6 promotes the entire amount of fuel displaced by it after the start of delivery of the piston 3 to the injection nozzle.
If it is desired to separate the injection process into a pre-injection and a main injection when operating with liquid fuel, that is to say when operating with diesel, this can be achieved in a simple manner in that the recess 35 does not extend to the upper end of the pump piston 2, but is formed in a similar way to the recess 30, so that the pump piston 6 closes the transverse bore 24 at the start of the preinjection and opens at the end of the preinjection. The call control of the mouth 24 has to be done before the pump piston 3 has the openings 20,
21 closes and the main injection begins.
