EMI0001.0003
Dabei erhält man 6-Methyl-9-cyclohexyliden-nonen-(5)- on-(2), welches bei 114"C/0,4 mm destilliert; nD = 1,4886.
Process for the preparation of new unsaturated ketones The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of new unsaturated ketones, which is characterized in that a tertiary alcohol of the formula
EMI0001.0003
in which R1 is an alkyl radical with 2-4 carbon atoms and R2 is either the methyl radical or, together with the radical R1, the pentamethylene radical, treated with an inorganic halogenating agent,
the substituted primary allyl halide formed is condensed with an alkali acetoacetic ester and the substituted acetic acetic ester formed is saponified and decarboxylated, an unsaturated ketone of the formula
EMI0001.0019
is formed.
Examples of starting alcohols are the following: 3,7-dimethyl-nonadiene- (1,6) -ol- (3), 3,7,9-trimethyl-decadiene- (1,6) -ol- (3) and 3- Methyl-6-cyclohexylidene-hexen- (1) -ol- (3). The starting alcohol of the formula 1, in which R1 is an ethyl group, can, for. B. can be obtained as follows: 600 g of 3-methyl-pentene- (1) -ol- (3) are cooled to + 15 C with the help of an ice bath and 1800 cm3 of concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid (37%) are added to the Poured reaction vessel.
The mixture is stirred for 30 minutes and the oil formed, which mainly consists of 1-chloro-3-methyl-pentene- (2), washed three times with 500 cm ?, water and dried over calcium chloride.
On the other hand, 4 liters of benzene, 1040 g of ethyl acetate and 378 g of sodium methylate are stirred into a 12-liter flask. With the help of a dropping funnel, 696 g of 1-chloro-3-methyl-pentene- (2), which was generated according to the preceding paragraph, are then introduced into the 12-liter flask at a temperature of 60 C within 2 hours, whereupon stirring is continued at 60 ° C. overnight.
The reaction mixture is then diluted with 4 liters of water, the oil formed is separated off and the benzene is distilled off in vacuo. The thick residue consisting of 3-carbethoxy-6-methyl-octen- (5) -one- (2) is placed in a 5 liter flask and mixed with 2 liters of ethyl alcohol, 1 liter of water and 500 g of potassium hydroxide . The reaction mixture is stirred for 2 hours, after which it is left to stand overnight, the potassium salt of 3-carboxy-6-methyl-octen- (5) -one- (2) being formed.
Concentrated hydrochloric acid is added to the reaction mixture with the aid of a dropping funnel while stirring until it reacts strongly acidic. The oily layer is removed and the aqueous portion is extracted with 1 liter of benzene. The oily layer and the oil obtained by extracting with benzene are combined and these combined oils are washed with water and fractionated, whereby 6-methyl-octen- (5) -one- (2), which is distilled at 65 ° C./10 mm, is obtained , receives; n25 D = 1.4412.
84 g of metallic sodium are dissolved in 3 liters of liquid ammonia. Acetylene is then passed into this solution with stirring until its color has changed from blue to white. 420 g of 6-methyl-oeten- (5) -one- (2), obtained according to the above paragraph, are dissolved in 500 cm3 of diethyl ether and stirred into the reaction mixture dropwise over the course of 1 hour. The mixture is stirred for a further 3 hours, a weak stream of acetylene gas being introduced. The supply of acetylene is then interrupted, but the reaction mixture is stirred for about a further 15 hours.
The ammonia is then distilled off and the residue in the reaction vessel is washed with 2 liters of 5% aqueous sulfuric acid. The product is then washed with water, dried over anhydrous calcium sulfate and fractionated, giving the 3,7-dimethyl-nonene (6) -in- (1) -ol- (3) which is obtained at 89 C / 10 mm distilled; nD = 1.4612.
300 g of the 3,7-dimethyl-nonene (6) -in (1) -ols- (3) obtained in this way, 30 g of a 5% lead-palladium catalyst on calcium carbonate [Lindlar, Helvetica Chimica Acta 35, 446 (1952)] and 300 cm ?, petroleum ether are introduced into a flask equipped with a stirrer and at a hydrogen pressure of 1 atm. and hydrogenated at 25-30 C until 1.9 mol of hydrogen are consumed.
Fractionation of this product gives 3,7 - dimethyl - nonadiene - (1,6) -o1- (3), which distills at 132 ° C./86 mm; n D = 1.4603.
The other starting alcohols can be obtained in ana loger manner by the 3-methyl-pentene- (1) -ol- (3) z. B. is replaced by 3,5-dimethyl-hexen- (1) -ol- (3) or by 1-vinyl-cyclohexanol.
As halogenating agents in the first reaction stage, preferably concentrated, aqueous hydrohalic acids, eg. B. the commercially available concentrated hydrochloric acid or hydrobromic acid, or phosphorus halides, such as phosphorus trichloride, can be used. During the halogenation, an allyl rearrangement takes place with migration of the double bond into the 2,3-position and linkage of the halogen with the carbon atom in the permanent position.
In the next reaction stage, the substituted, primary allyl halide formed is reacted with an alkali acetoacetic ester. This happens e.g. B. by adding the halide in an inert solvent with the alkali salt of an acetoacetic ester, z.
B. the sodium salt of the ethyl acetoacetate, or by adding an alkali metal alcoholate to the mixture of the halide and the acetoacetate.
In the last reaction stage, the substituted acetoacetic esters obtained are saponified and decarboxylated. This is conveniently done by treating with an alkali hydroxide and then acidifying.
The new ketones have fragrance character and have previously unknown, new odor nuances; they can be used for the production of odoriferous substances and perfumes.
Example 1 417.4 g of 3,7-dimethyl-nonadiene- (1,6) -ol- (3) are cooled to -10 ° C. with the aid of a bath consisting of solid carbonic acid and acetone. Then, while stirring, 2080 cm- 37% aqueous hydrochloric acid is added in such a way that the temperature in the reaction vessel remains below 0 C. The addition takes 30 minutes and the mixture is stirred for an additional 30 minutes. The oil is removed using a separating funnel and washed three times with 500 cm3 of water each time. After drying over calcium chloride, 485 g of 1-chloro-3,7-dimethyl-nonadiene- (2,6), nD = 1.4750 are obtained.
A 5 liter three-necked flask equipped with a stirrer, thermometer, cooler and dropping funnel is charged with 2 liters of benzene and 440 g of ethyl acetate. This mixture is then added in portions with 175 g of sodium methylate. When the latter is added, the temperature rises to 60 ° C. After stirring for 30 minutes, 485 g of 1-chloro-3,7-dimethylnonadiene (2,6) are added dropwise over the course of 30 minutes. The temperature of the reaction mixture is increased to 65-70 ° C. and the mixture is stirred at this temperature for 10 hours.
Then add 2 liters of water. The aqueous phase is removed and the benzene layer is washed twice with 200 cm3 of water each time. The benzene is then removed in vacuo, 3-carbethoxy-6,10-dimethyl-dodecadien- (5,9) -one- (2) remaining, which is used for the next reaction stage without further purification. The total amount of 3-carbethoxy-6,10-dimethyl-dodecadien- (5,9) -one- (2) obtained is ver with 1.8 liters of ethyl alcohol and with a solution of 280 g of potassium hydroxide in 350 cm3 of water .
This mixture is kept at 50-60 ° C. for 4 hours with stirring. The resulting solution of the potassium salt of 6,10-dimethyl-dodecadien- (5,9) -one- (2) -3-carboxylic acid is then acidified by the dropwise addition of 420 cm 3 of 37% aqueous hydrochloric acid, which takes 1 hour. The reaction mixture is stirred for 51/2 hours at 60-70 ° C. and 4 liters of water are then added. The organic layer is separated and the aqueous layer is extracted three times with a total of 1 liter of petroleum ether.
The combined extracts, to which the organic layer is added, are dried over calcium chloride, whereupon the solvent is removed and the residue is distilled through a Vigreux column. In this way 6,10-dimethyldodecadiene - (5.9) - an - (2), which boils at 83 to 85 ° C./0.1 mm; n D = 1.467. This compound develops a fine scent reminiscent of rose and lavender.
Example 2 142 g of 3,7,9-trimethyl-decadiene- (1,6) -ol- (3) are treated for 1 hour with 450 cm3 of concentrated, aqueous hydrochloric acid (37% by weight / o HCl) stirred at 25 C. The oily layer is separated, washed twice with water and dried over calcium sulfate. The dried liquid consists of 1-chloro-3,7,9-trimethyl-decadiene- (2,6); nD = 1.472.
A 2 liter flask is charged with 1000 cm- 'benzene, 104 g of ethyl acetoacetate and with 40 g of sodium methylate. After the mixture has been stirred for 30 minutes, 145.5 g of 1-chloro-3,7,9-trimethyl-decadiene (2,6) are added dropwise using a dropping funnel over the course of 30 minutes. The reaction mixture is stirred at 60-70 ° C. for 4 hours. After cooling to room temperature, the mixture is washed with 1000 cm3 of water and the benzene is then removed by distillation in vacuo.
The residue remaining in the flask consists mainly of 3-carbethoxy-6,10,12-trimethyl-tridecadien- (5,9) -one (2).
The flask containing the entire amount of 3-carbethoxy-6,10,12-trimethyl-tridecadien- (5,9) -one- (2) produced is mixed with 500 cm3 of ethyl alcohol, 70 g of potassium hydroxide and 50 cm3 of water and the saponification is brought about by stirring the mixture for 4 hours at 40-50 ° C.
The decarboxylation of the resulting potassium salt of 3-carboxy-6,10,12-trimethyl-tridecadien- (5,9) - one- (2) takes place by adding concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid while stirring the mixture until it reacts strongly acidic. The mixture is then stirred at 40-50 ° C. for a further 2 hours. After cooling, the solution is diluted with 500 cm3 of water, the oily layer is separated off and the aqueous part is extracted with 500 cm3 of petroleum ether.
The oily layer, which is combined with the oil obtained by extracting with petroleum ether, is washed with water and the solvent is removed, whereupon the product is fractionated in vacuo. The 6,10,12-trimethyl-tridecadien- (5,9) -one- (2) distilled at 107-109 C / 0.7 mm; nD = 1.4652. This material has a pleasant, fruity odor and can be used to give floral-scented perfume compositions a fruity note. The compound thus obtained can also be used as a component for synthetic fruit flavors, such as e.g.
Those of pineapples, pears and apples can be used. Compared with the esters previously used in similar perfumes and aromatizing compositions, the aforementioned ketone possesses excellent, unmatched resistance. Example 3 56 g of 6-cyclohexylidene-3-methyl-hexen-(1) -ol- (3) are mixed with 150 cubic meters of concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid (37 wt / o HCl ) stirred. The oily layer is separated, washed twice with water and dried over calcium sulfate.
The dried liquid consists of 3-methyl- 6-cyclohexylidene-hexen- (2) -yl- (1) chloride; nD = 1.487.
500 cm3 of benzene, 52 g of ethyl acetoacetate and 16.2 g of sodium methoxide are introduced into a 2 liter flask. The mixture is stirred for 30 minutes and then 5-5 g of 3-methyl-6-cyclohexylidene-hexen- (2) -yl- (1) chloride are added dropwise from a dropping funnel over the course of 30 minutes. The reaction mixture is stirred at a temperature of 60-70 ° C. for 4 hours.
After cooling to room temperature, the mixture is washed with 500 cm3 of water and the benzene is removed in vacuo. The remaining, straw-colored oil consists mainly of 3-carbethoxy-6-methyl-9-cyclohexylidene-nonen- (5) -one- (2).
200 cm3 of ethyl alcohol, 35 g of potassium hydroxide and 50 cubic meters of water are introduced into the flask containing the entire amount of 3-carbethoxy-6-methyl-9-cyclohexylidenonenene (5) -one (2). The saponification is carried out by stirring the mixture for 4 hours at 40-50 C.
The decarboxylation of the resulting potassium salt of 3-carboxy-6-methyl-9-cyclohexylidene-nonen (5) -one- (2) then follows by adding concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid while stirring the reaction mixture until the same is strongly acidic. The mixture is then stirred for another 2 hours at 40-50 ° C., the solution is cooled and diluted with 200 cm3 of water and the oily layer formed is separated off. The aqueous part is extracted with 200 cm3 petroleum ether.
The oily layer and the oil obtained by extraction with petroleum ether are combined and washed neutral with water. The solvent is then removed and the product obtained is subjected to fractional distillation in vacuo. This gives 6-methyl-9-cyclohexylidene-nonene (5) - one (2), which distills at 114 "C / 0.4 mm; nD = 1.4886.
