Tube heat exchanger The subject of the present invention is a tube heat exchanger intended for the exchange of heat between two fluids, one of which circulates in the tubes and the other circulates in spaces formed between them. ci, perpendicular to the axis of the tubes, which present at least one section of elongated cross section with swollen lateral sides, these tubes being arranged in rows and staggered, the major axes of the elongated cross sections of the tubes in each row being aligned so that between two consecutive rows of tubes is formed at least one corrugated corridor.
This heat exchanger is characterized according to the invention in that the bulge of a lateral flank of each tube of a row differs in magnitude with the bulge of the lateral flanks located opposite said lateral flank of the tubes of the adjacent row. so that the corrugated corridor periodically varies in section throughout its extent.
Two particular embodiments of the exchanger which is the subject of the invention and of the variants are described below by way of example and with reference to the appended drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a partial cross section of the exchanger of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a partial cross section of the exchanger according to the second embodiment. Fig. 3 shows in perspective, a variant of the first embodiment.
Fig. 4 is an end view of the tube of FIG. 3. Fig. 5 is a partial perspective view of an exchanger provided with fins. Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a tube according to a variant.
Fig. 7 shows in perspective a detail of a tube provided with fins.
Fig. 8 is an elevational view of the detail of FIG. 7.
Fig. 9 shows in longitudinal section a portion of a cylindrical tube during manufacture and FIG. 10 shows in perspective the same tube after conformation.
Fig. 11 shows a longitudinal section of a cylindrical tube during manufacture, and FIG. 12 shows in perspective the same tube, after con formation.
In fig. 1 is shown in broken bold lines, the contours AA, BB, CC, DD of the corridors formed inside the heat exchanger for the fluid, generally gaseous, which circulates outside the tubes in the direction of the arrows F. The corridor delimited by the contours CC, DD has a constriction HH located in a change of direction, followed by a widening up to section II, such that the two walls HI of the corridor deviate gradually to constitute a divergent between section HH and section II.
After this, there is a change of direction in J until a new narrower section H'H 'is reached, the profile thus repeating itself from end to end of the corridor.
It will be noted that the two contiguous lanes AA, BB on the one hand, and CC, DD on the other hand, are identical, but slightly offset, the right lane being offset downwards in the figure with respect to the left lane .
The tubes a have an elongated profile such that the lower part of a tube is located in the vicinity of the upper part of the adjacent tube in each vertical row XX of the exchanger. The sides of the tubes which will delimit the profile of the necklaces are swollen to fit into the contour BB, CC which has just been described. This results in each tube having an asymmetrical shape in the sense that the face b of the tube located on the contour CC is less swollen than the opposite face c which is located on the contour BB.
It will be noted that the tubes of the vertical row XX are staggered with respect to those of the adjacent rows, which gives the assembly a staggered arrangement.
To produce the tubes of the exchanger, the starting point is generally a cylindrical tube of circular section which is suitably die-cast to give it the desired profile. It is advisable to leave the ends of the tube in their circular shape to allow easy attachment to a tube plate. Likewise, from place to place on the tubes, short segments of circular shape can be left, which possibly facilitates the fixing of spacers in these places. In fig. 1 and 2, the dotted circle e1 represents the circular section of the pitch tube.
In the exchanger according to the second embodiment and partially shown in FIG. 2, use is made of tubes which, in each row of tubes taken separately, are of equal cross-section and symmetrical with respect to their major axis, but the lateral sides (e, d) of which have bulges which differ from the bulges of the tubes adjacent (xy), The profile of each corridor is similar to that of the previous figure, i.e. it gradually passes from a change of direction and / or throttling HH to a widening of section II , by a di vergent HI, HI, after which there is a change of direction and so on.
In a variant shown in FIG. 3, the tube a is shaped so as to have two bulges of unequal size on its two sides. It is provided with transverse fins f, which comprise corrugations perpendicular to the axis of the tube.
The fluid circulating in the direction of the arrows F, that is to say perpendicular to the axis XX of the tube, is subjected, because of the corrugated fins f, to changes of direction and of speed pulsations and of pressure due to the variations in section of the space between two consecutive fins f, similar to those produced by the sides of the deformed tube a. In addition, the fins increase the rigidity of the tube a and maintain its profile, even in the case where the circulating fluids are under pressure.
Fixing the fins to the tubes can be done by simply pressing the metal of the fin on the metal of the tube, or by entire welding along the junction surface, or local spot. The fins can also be brazed to the metal of the tube. Finally, it is possible to be satisfied with a simple thermal connection between the fin and the tube by depositing metal, either by immersing the apparatus in a bath, or by spraying metal with a gun on the junction lines.
The fins f of the embodiment of FIG. 5 are designed so as to equip all the tubes in the same row, ie the three tubes a. The fins are formed by two strips g1 g2, assembled by welding points at h, in the plane XX of the tubes. This produces a spacing effect between the tubes. In a variant not shown, the fins are bent at 90 ° on their lateral edges so as to also serve as spacers between two parallel rows of tubes.
We can multiply the segments of circular section, and go up, as shown in fig. 6, transverse wings f on said segments, which may be easier than adapting them to the con-formed section of the tube.
The transverse fins f can also be corrugated concentrically to the sides of the tube a on which they are mounted. This is the case in the you bes represented in fig. 7 and 8. In a variant not shown, the corrugations, instead of being concentrated, are parallel to the major axis of the cross section of the tube.
The principle which consists in providing the tubes with additional exchange surfaces can also be achieved, without the addition of fins, starting from a cylindrical tube i whose outer surface has a series of annular grooves j as shown. see in fig. 9 in section. Such a tube, after conforma tion, will take the form shown in perspective in FIG. 10, in which we see a series of grooves, forming ribs, on the two sides of the tube i. The grooves j may possibly encroach on the internal surface of the tube as shown in dotted lines j1 in FIG. 9.
According to a variant, it is possible to start from a cylindrical tube k, which is subjected to successive compressions in the direction of its axis YY, so as to obtain, by folding the wall of the tube, ribs 1 all along of the tube. By then subjecting such a tube to deformation to obtain the desired profile, the hollow ribs 1 flatten out at the same time as the tube, as seen in perspective in fig. 12, to finally give kinds of transverse ribs 11, which mechanically stiffen the tube, while giving the advantages indicated above as regards the heat exchange.
