Rotor for a gas turbojet In a conventional gas turbojet comprising a compressor, a row of combustion chambers and a turbine which drives the compressor via a shaft, this shaft is normally supported by two or more bearings.
For convenience of construction, the rear bearing is usually placed in front of the turbine rotor and this rotor extends above the bearing, thus forming a cantilevered construction which may impose on the impeller. main arb of efforts likely to produce vibrations at high speeds and which may have an additional drawback when mounted in an airplane, because the gyroscopic effects of the rotating disk of the:
Turbine from aircraft maneuvers may result in shaft bending, which results in varying the radial distance between the tip of the rotor blades and the turbine shell. To minimize this variation, it is necessary to mount the rear bearing as close as possible to the turbine disc.
Consequently, the need has dictated the use of rotors which have one-piece cantilever disks and shafts which are therefore difficult and expensive to manufacture because the shafted turbine disks. Separate cantilevers are usually difficult to mount near the bearing due to the space required for the flange to be provided on the shaft or other disc mounting component.
The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks. The turbojet rotor which is the subject thereof comprises at least one rotor disk having a central hole, a bearing arranged near this disk and a main shaft mounted so as to rotate in the bearing.
The rotor is characterized in that the main shaft forms an annular end surface turned towards the rotor disc on its side adjacent to the bearing and in that a cantilever shaft connected to the rotor disc. 'main shaft, extends coaxially from the end of this main shaft, the cantilever shaft extending through the hole in the rotor disc at an annular spacing from the main shaft. the wall of this hole,
a flange extending radially from the cantilever shaft on the side of the rotor disk opposite to that located towards the bearing, this flange being separated from the rotor disk and having a front face opposite to the rear face of the rotor disc, said opposite faces of the rotor disc and of the flange being connected by several radial members transmits both the torque, so that the disc. rotor is placed between the annular end surface of the main shaft and the flange, the torque transmitting or ganes being kept in relative driving position.
Some embodiments of the object of the invention are shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of a gas turbojet engine showing, partly in section, the location of the turbine disk and of the bearing mounted in this disk.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation on a larger scale, part in axial section, of the turbine disc and the bearing shown in FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a similar view showing another embodiment.
Fig. 4 is a partial axial section showing a two-stage turbine rotor comprising two discs.
The conventional gas turbo-reactor shown in fi-. 1 and intended for use in an aircraft comprises a compressor 1, in which a stream of air is compressed and of which the compressed air passes at high speed in a row of combustion chambers 2, in which a fuel is burned in the air stream. The products of combustion are discharged through guide members onto a turbine rotor 3 comprising a disk 4 provided with vanes 5 and the turbine in turn drives the compressor by means of a main shaft 6 rotating in the bearings 7, 8 and 9.
As shown in fig. 2, the turbine disc 4 has a central hole delimited by the inner periphery 4a of the disc and through which passes a cantilever shaft 10, which is at a certain annular spacing from the inner periphery of the disc.
On the front of the disc, the cantilever shaft engages with the main shaft 6 near the bearing 9, then, on the side of the turbine disc 4 opposite to the one towards the bearing. turbine 9, the cantilever shaft 10 has a large annular assembly flange 11 engaging the disc by splines 12 formed on the face of the disc and on that of the flange, these splines serving as torque transmission and centering devices between the disc and the overhanging shaft 10 to transmit to the main shaft 6 the gyroscopic forces and the accelerations imparted to the turbine disc 4.
In front of the turbine disk 4, the cantilever shaft 10 extends into the posterior end portion of the main shaft 6, which terminates near the disk with the rear end surface of the turbine. the main shaft engaging with an annular shim 14 disposed against the front face of the disc. The thickness of the shim 14 is chosen to ensure the appropriate load on the splines 12 between the disc and the flange 11. A nut 13, screwed onto the front end of the cantilever shaft 10, secures this ar bre to main shaft 6.
It is desirable to provide a coating of a lubricating film, such as graphite or silver plating, on the rear face of the shim 14 where it contacts the disc 4 of the impeller in order to avoid surface chafing which could occur as a result of the radial expansion of the turbine disc in operation.
The wedge 14 can also include a number of radial slots 15 in its rear face; air cooling of the inner part of the turbine disk can then be effected by passing the cooling air through the slots and through to the annular space formed between the inner periphery 4a of the disk and the shaft in cantilever, the air stream being produced according to the conventional method by establishing an air pressure difference between the rear and the front of the disc 4. The air can be released on the rear face of the disc. disc 4 by recesses 12a formed by giving a truncated shape to the grooves 12 of the face.
The construction which has been described above allows the turbine bearing to be mounted as close to the front face of the turbine disk as if a one-piece cantilever shaft were used with this disk. , which would be expensive and difficult to manufacture, as has been explained.
The bearing 9 is rationally enclosed in an oil seal 16 and FIG. 2 clearly shows that the minimum distance between the bearing 9 and the disc 4 is determined only by the space required for the oil seal and by any arrangements which can be made for the passage of the cooling air.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the drive and the centering between the disc 4 'of the rotor and the assembly flange 11' are ensured by means of radial pins 17 passing through annular fins 20 provided on the rear face of the disc of the rotor and by annular jaws 11a 'formed on the flange 11', these jaws forming a groove in the front face of the flange 11 'to freely receive the annular fins 20.
Stop rings 18 and 19 are disposed on the inner and outer radial cylindrical surfaces of the jaws 11d to prevent the pegs 17 from escaping. An annular shoulder 20a of the disc 4 'engages the inner radial wall of the groove formed between the jaws 11a' to ensure the centering of the disc and of the flange when the che towns 17 are in place. The radial expansion of the disc 4 'produced by the thermal and centrifugal effects loosens the engagement of the shoulder 20a on the flange 11' during operation, so that the centering of the disc 4 'of the rotor with respect to the flange 11 'is performed by the radial pins 17 alone.
Fig. 4 shows a turbine rotor comprising two discs 4 "and 21. In this positive device, the flange 11" is coupled to each of the two discs by means of the splines 12 "and 22. The splines of the faces are held in engagement by the clamping produced by bolts 23 arranged annularly and passing through the two discs; in order to reduce as much as possible the local forces in the discs which are caused by the holes for the passage of the bolts, the discs are thickened in the region of these holes.
