Machine tool comprising a drum-revolver The present invention relates to a machine tool comprising a drum-revolver carrying several tools.
In known machine tools, the cooling of the tools is obtained by a jet of oil or any other suitable lubricant, which simultaneously sprinkles the tools and the material being machined.
However, when the tool or the tool holder is relatively large in diameter and if in addition it rotates at high speed, as is the case for example for a die, the cooling obtained by means of a jet of liquid directed at the tool from the outside is not strong enough to cool the tool properly. In the case where the tool consists of a die, said jet of liquid not only fails to cool the combs, but it is incapable of cleaning them, given the effects of centrifugal force.
The object of the present invention is to avoid said drawbacks by making it possible to bring a lubricant under pressure from an external source, inside a tool carried by the revolver-drum, when this tool is in the working position. . By passing inside said tool, the liquid will not only cool it better than an external jet, but it will clean it by expelling all the chips resulting from a machining carried out by this tool. For this purpose, at least one of the tools carried by the revolver-drum has a longitudinal channel, which extends through said drum to an orifice thereof. Means are. arranged on the other hand to supply a lubricant to said orifice, while said tool is working.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, some embodiments of the machine object of the invention, comprising a cylindrical revolver-drum which carries pins intended to receive various tools, these pins being arranged parallel to the axis. of rotation of the drum, in places distributed regularly around this axis.
Fig. 1 is a radial section through the revolver of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a section similar to that of FIG. 1, showing a second embodiment.
Fig. 3 is an axial section of the revolver, showing a third embodiment. Fig. 4 is a section along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3.
Fig. 5 is a partial axial section of the revolver showing a fourth embodiment. Fig. 6 is also a partial axial section of the revolver, showing a fifth embodiment, and FIG. 7 is a partial radial section of the revolver along the line VII-VII of FIG. 6. The revolver shown in fig. 1 com takes a drum 1, in the form of a cylindrical crown, rotatably mounted in a frame 2.
This frame 2 is fixed in particular to the non-shown frame of an automatic lathe, opposite the headstock of this lathe. Drum 1 has six axial ducts, three, 3, 4, 5 of which are shown in the drawing, these channels being distributed regularly around the axis of drum 1.
The various tools, not shown, carried by this revolver, are all directed towards the headstock of the lathe. They are fixed in particular in pins also not shown, the axes of which coincide with those of said axial channels of drum 1.
The automatic lathe on which this revolver is mounted is intended in particular to take off parts by operating cycles, each cycle corresponding to one revolution of a control shaft 6, which carries cams (only two of which are shown in the drawing) intended to successively control the various operations of each cycle. In particular, the shaft 6 controls the rotation of the drum 1 by means of members not shown, so as to bring this drum 1 successively into six different working positions, in which each of the tools carried by this drum is in the axis of the workpiece, carried by the headstock of the lathe.
In the position shown in FIG. 1, it is the tool coaxial with channel 5 of drum 1 which is in the working position, in the axis of the headstock of the lathe. This tool can, for example, be a die.
Six conical orifices 7, located in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the drum 1, are made in the outer cylindrical face of the latter, at the bottom of an annular groove 8. A channel 9 connects each of these orifices 7 to the 'one of the axial channels (3, 4, 5) of the drum 1. The lubricant intended to cool and clean the working tool is brought into the channel 5, through the corresponding channel 9, by a conduit 10, which is ends with a nozzle 11, the end 12 of which is conical in order to match the shape of the seat 7 corresponding to the channel 5. The nozzle 11, capable of sliding axially in a part 11 'screwed into a tubular projection of the frame 2, is controlled by a lever 13 which pivots around an axis 14 carried by an ear 15 integral with the frame of the revolver.
The lever 13 notably controls the nozzle 11 by means of a stud 16, engaged in a groove 17 of a part 18 integral with the nozzle 11. At its end opposite the stud 16, the lever 13 carries a roller 19. , maintained in contact with a cam 20 fixed on the shaft 6, by a spring 21, which bears on the part 11 '.
A cam 22, carried by the shaft 6, is intended to open or close a valve 23, by means of a piston 24 placed under the action of a spring 25. In the position shown in FIG. 1, the valve 23 is open, and the lubricant can arrive through the conduit 10 through the nozzle 11 into the channel 5 and finally into the working tool.
In the position shown in the drawing, it is understood that the roller 19 does not abut against the cam 20; the lever 13 must in fact have sufficient play for the conical end 12 of the nozzle 11 to be properly applied in the seat 7 of the drum 1.
It can be seen without further, in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, that the lubricant supplied through the conduit 10 inside the die carried by the spindle corresponding to the channel 5 of the drum 1 can be under a pressure of a few atmospheres. It will also be noted that the camshaft 6 carries, in the embodiment shown, the cams 20 and 22 with a profile which only allows the lubrication of a single tool intended to be re-cooled from the 'inside, the other tools of this drum 1, which may be pointers or piercers, being intended to be cooled, for example by a jet of liquid projected by a cannula on said tool and the workpiece, as in the devices for lubrication con nus.
The machine tool shown partially in FIG. 1 is called upon to operate in the following manner. The lubricant supplied by the conduit 10 flows until the moment when the working tool of the revolver has finished its operation, so that this pressurized liquid properly cleans the tool. At this time, the cam 22 allows the piston 24 to move downward under the action of the spring 25, closing the valve 23. The cam 20 then pushes the roller 19 by turning the lever 13 in the direction. in verse of that of the hands of the watch in fig. 1, thereby removing the nozzle 11 from the drum 1. The latter is then ready to rotate by one step under the action of the shaft 6, in order to bring the next tool into the working position.
Instead of carrying only one tool of the tines to be lubricated from the inside, the revolver described could carry two or even six. In this case, it would be sufficient to replace the cams 20 and 22 with cams cut so that they close the valve 23 six times and push the roller 19 of the lever 13 six times during a cycle, the duct 10 not having to be closed, and the nozzle is separated from the drum 1, only to allow the rotation of the latter.
Finally, the shaft 6, which controls the rotation of the drum 1, the retraction of the nozzle 11 and the opening of the valve 23, could be an auxiliary shaft, parallel to the main camshaft, and controlled by this. last so as to perform very quickly one revolution at each step of drum 1. If one did not wish to lubricate each tool of the revolver in this case, one could naturally place the cam controlling the valve 23 on the camshaft main, the auxiliary shaft then only controlling the rotation of the drum 1 and the retraction of the nozzle 11.
The embodiment of FIG. 2 differs from that which has just been described only in that the nozzle 11 is mounted here directly on the lever 13a, otherwise similar to the lever 13 of FIG. 1, this lever 13a being maintained in contact with its control cam by means of a roller not shown, thanks to a spring also not shown, which urges it in the opposite direction to that of the needles of the watch. , around its pivot axis 14.
In the position of FIG. 2, said cam in particular pushes this lever 13a sufficiently against the action of its return spring, so that the conical end 12 of the nozzle 11 rests properly in the conical seat 7 of the corresponding orifice of the drum 1, under the spring action 21a. When this nozzle 11 must be withdrawn from the path of the drum 1, the control cam of the lever 13a allows the latter to turn counterclockwise under the action of its spring, this lever coming from then in contact with nuts 26.
In this embodiment, the supply duct 10 for the lubricant comprises a valve identical to that which has been described in the first embodiment.
Referring now to the third embodiment (shown in Figs. 3 and 4), it will first be noted in fig. 3 the spindle 27 carried by the drum 1 of the revolver, as well as the tool holder 28 carrying a die 29, this tool holder 28 being in particular fixed to the spindle 27 by a mandrel 30 tightened by a nut 31. This spindle 27 and the tool holder 28 are hollow, to allow passage of the lubricant supplied into the duct 5 of the drum 1, otherwise identical to that shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
The spindle 27 as well as the tool holder 28 and the die 29 are intended to be driven in rotation by means of members not shown - housed in the space 32 of the drum 1 - from a control shaft not shown, housed in the central opening 33 of the drum 1 and itself controlled by a pulley which it carries outside the drum 1, on the left of the latter in FIG. 3.
The lubricant intended for cooling and cleaning the die 29 is brought into the channel 5 via a radial channel 9a, connecting this channel 5 to an orifice in the outer periphery of the drum 1.
As seen in fig. 4, the drum 1 is pierced with six axial channels 5, 5a, 5b, ..., 5th, identical, distributed regularly around its axis. Each of these axial channels communicates, by means of the radial channel 9a, with an orifice made in the outer cylindrical wall of the drum 1, these ori fices, as well as said radial channels 9a, being situated in the same plane perpendicular to the 'axis of the drum 1.
Unlike the two embodiments described above, said orifices in this third embodiment are not constituted by conical seats formed directly in the drum 1, but by slightly concave seats formed in end pieces 34, drilled according to their position. axis and screwed into threaded parts of the channels 9a. These ends 34 also each have a brake channel 35. They are finally housed in an annular groove 8 of the drum 1, so as not to come into contact with the frame 2 in which this drum rotates.
The end 12a of the nozzle 11a is not conical, but cut so that its convex shape matches the concave shape of the seat of the nozzles 34.
Unlike the first two embodiments, the nozzle 11a is not controlled by a particular lever. It is here simply mounted on the frame 2, so as to be able to slide axially in a part 36, screwed into a tubular projection of the frame 2.
In the position shown in fig. 3 and 4, the end l2a of this nozzle lla rests in the concave seat of one of the end pieces 34 under the action of a coil spring 21b bearing on the part 36. In this position, the nozzle 11a is ready to send the lubricant supplied by the conduit 10a via the channels of the drum 1 to the die 29, this conduit 10a here also having a valve identical to the valve 23 of FIG. 1.
When the drum 1 takes a step around its axis, under the control of the camshaft 6 of the lathe, the nozzle 34, in the concave seat of which the end 12a of the nozzle 11a is engaged, will push this nozzle towards the top in fig. 3 and 4, against the action of the spring 21b.
Once this tip 34 has left the nozzle 11a, and before the next nozzle 34 has arrived under it, it will be noted that the end of this nozzle would come into contact with the bottom of the groove 8, under the 'action of the spring 21b, if a nut 37 had not been placed on this nozzle, at such a distance from the part 36 that the end 12a does not come into contact with the bottom of the groove 8. It is understood that the nut 37 must not be placed too close to the part 36, so that a certain clearance remains between these two elements when the end of said nozzle rests in one of the end pieces 34.
By continuing its course, the drum 1 will finally bring the next nozzle under the nozzle 11a. At that moment, the latter will perform a backward movement, upwards, against the action of the spring 21b, which retraction is facilitated in particular by the chamfer 35 of said end piece.
In fig. 4, it can be seen that a tip 34 has been fixed in each of the channels 9 of the drum 1. If all the tools of the revolver are not intended to be lubricated from the inside, it is quite clear that the nozzles 34 unnecessary, to avoid excessive wear of these tips and the end of the nozzle 11a.
Finally, we will notice in fig. 3 that a tube 38 has been fixed to the drum 1 in the channel 5, so as to allow both a rotation of the spindle 27 on itself and an axial displacement of this spindle to the right in FIG. 3, ensuring the connection of channel 5 to the internal duct of pin 27.
The embodiment of FIG. 5 does not differ from that of FIGS. 3 and 4 only by the fact that the nozzle l la is placed opposite the flat face of the drum 1 opposite to that which carries the tools, instead of being placed opposite its outer cylindrical face. In addition, this nozzle is located in the axis of the headstock of the lathe, so that in this case it suffices to make six axial channels 5 'all through the drum 1. The end of this nozzle 11a has the same form as in the previous embodiment, and it is tinée to put the supply duct 10a of the lubricant in communication with the channels 5 'by means of end pieces 34 screwed into the drum 1 at the ends 5 'housing.
This nozzle 11a slides in a part of the frame 2, via a part 36. A nut 37 is intended to prevent the end of the nozzle from coming into contact with said drum, when the latter rotates around its. axis.
In the last embodiment, represented in Figs. 6 and 7, the drum 1 is intended to rotate around a fixed shaft 39, carried by a part of the frame 2, and having an axial channel 40 in which the lubricant can be supplied by a duct 10b comprising a valve similar to the valve 23 of FIG 1. This channel 40 communicates with a window in the cylindrical wall of the shaft, via a conduit 41. Six radial channels 9b, each closed by a plug 42 and each communicating with a channel 5 axial, are formed in the drum 1.
The respective positions, on the one hand, of the channels 9b and 5 and, on the other hand, of the channel 41, are chosen so that the latter communicates with one of said channels 9b each time the drum 1 is at rest. in the working position of one of its tools.
Although this embodiment is more particularly suitable for a lathe in which the tools of the revolver are intended to work without rotational movements, it is quite clear that it can also be applied to a lathe in which said tools are intended to rotate on themselves. These could in fact be controlled in rotation, when they are in the working position, by a pulley independent of the revolver, acting by friction on a pulley integral with the spindle which is in the working position. These pins could even be dragged as in the previous embodiments from a shaft housed in the central opening of the drum 1, which here would carry a drive wheel or pulley placed between the revolver and the headstock. tower.
