Les enroulements 4 et 5 sont alimentés par la batterieI moyennant les rhéostatsX, et XI respectivement. L'enroulement 6 est un enrou- lement shunt connecté entre les balais secon daires quia pour but de réduire lia valeur du courant primaire. L'enroulement 7 est un enroulement série traversé par le courant secondaire ;
Electrical equipment transforming mechanical power at variable speed into mechanical power at constant speed The object of the invention is electrical equipment transforming mechanical power at variable speed into mechanical power at constant speed, comprising at least one generator metadyne capable of rotating at variable speed, at least one driving metadyne supplied by said generator, this generator comprising a set of primary brushes and a set of secondary brushes, as well as several stator windings,
one of these being a series stabilizing winding through which the secondary current supplied by the secondary brushes passes and inducing, between these brushes, an electromotive force tending to oppose the secondary current in question, while another winding stator, which is also a series stabilizing winding, is crossed by the primary current supplied by the primary brushes and induced between these primary brushes, an electromotive force tending to oppose the primary current,
said generator comprising yet two other stator windings, the first of which induces an electromotive force between the primary brushes and the second an electromotive force between the secondary brushes, these last two windings each being connected by a rheostat to a constant current source, a shunt stator winding connected to the terminals of the secondary brushes, intended to reduce the value of the primary current, a series winding through which the secondary current passes and playing the role of secondary compensator, then finally, two shunt windings connected one to the terminals of the primary brushes and inducing between these brushes one.

as well as a certain number of stator bearings, this driving metadyne being coupled to a speed regulating dynamo providing an adjustment current varying rapidly as a function of a small variation in the speed of said driving metadyne with respect to a speed predeter mined,
the first of said stator windings of said driving metadyne being run by the current of the regulating dynamo, the second of these stator windings being intended to create the flux necessary for starting the driving metadyne, the third and the fourth of these windings being series windings, traversed, the first by the secondary current and the second by the primary current and both tending to stabilize the speed .de said driving metadyne at the desired value.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the equipment according to the invention.
Referring to this figure, the equipment shown comprises a pair of similar generating metadynes A and C. These generators are assumed to be driven by B and D shafts rotating at high speed variable and provide energy to motor metadynes E, F, G, driving shafts H, K and L respectively.
Generator A comprises an armature with four equidistant brushes, a, b, c, d, a pair of primary brushes a and c, a pair of secondary brushes b and d and a set of stator windings whose windings 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 have their magnetic axis coinciding with the switching axis of the secondary brushes b </ I> and d, and whose windings 2, 5 and 6 have their magnetic axis coinciding with the switching axis of the primary brushes a and c.
The primary brushes a and c can be connected by means of circuits of very low ohmic resistance to a constant voltage source constituted by a battery I or they can be united through the winding 3, depending on the position of the switch 60 The secondary brushes b and d are connected to the circuit comprising the metadynes E, F, G by means of windings with very low ohmic resistance through the switch YI. The stator winding 2 is a series stabilizing winding crossed by the secondary current supplied by the secondary brushes b and d and inducing between these brushes an opposing electro motive force to the secondary current.
Also, the winding 3 is a series stabilizing winding through which the primary current supplied by the brushes a and c passes and inducing between these primary brushes an electro-motive force which opposes the primary current.
The windings 4 and 5 are supplied by the battery I by means of the rheostats X, and XI respectively. Winding 6 is a shunt winding connected between the secondary brushes which aims to reduce the value of the primary current. Winding 7 is a series winding through which the secondary current passes;
it is a secondary compensating winding which functions as a hypocompensator. Winding 8 is a shunt winding capable of being connected to the primary brushes and inducing between these brushes an electromotive force approximately equal to the electromotive force of the battery when the primary brushes are connected to the latter and when the switch 62 is switched on. closed.
The winding 9 is connected between the secondary brushes b and d and induces an electromotive force between the primary brushes, the direction of which is opposite to that of the electromotive force induced by the armature flux due to the secondary current. Assuming that the shaft B turns in the right direction as indicated by the arrow, the arrows indicated next to the windings give the direction of their amperes.
In order for the brushes a and c to be connected to the battery, the switch 60 must be in its horizontal position and the switch 62 must then be closed. If the primary brushes are shorted through winding 3, switch 60 is in its vertical position and switch 62 is open. The generator C metadyne has a layout identical to that of the generator A and the elements 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 61, 63, X3 and X4 correspond tooth to elements 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 60, 62, Xl, X2 of generator A </ I> respectfully.
Windings 5, 6, 8 and 9 are all windings which tend to reduce the secondary current decrease as the secondary voltage increases. They make it possible to obtain a constant value of the secondary current for values of the secondary voltage between zero and a value for which saturation occurs.
Under these conditions, the YI and Y "switches being closed, the generators A and C will supply a constant current to the loop in which the motors E, F, G are inserted. , and, in addition, will provide almost instantaneously the voltage that these motors will require at any moment and this whatever the speed of the shafts B and D provided that this speed is higher at a predetermined lower limit and this even when the speeds of the shafts B and D are different from each other.
The ratio of the currents supplied by the generators A and C is controlled by the rheostats X., and X4. Likewise, the value of the current in windings 5 and 15 of generators A and C is controlled by rheostats XI and X; respectively, so as to compensate for the ampere-turns of secondary stabilizers 2 and 12 It remains of course that the generators A and C can operate either alone or simultaneously and that, instead of 2, it is possible to operate any number of similar generators in parallel. The motors inserted in the loop powered by generators A and C are motor metadynes.
Each of these has 4 equidistant brushes and the primary brushes a and c are connected in series with each other, while the brushes b and d are short-circuited. The driving metadyne E comprises an armature 26 and 4 equidistant brushes a, b, c, d. It has 4 stator windings 20, 21, 22, 23. The stator windings 20, 22 have their magnetic axis coinciding with the switching axis of the secondary brushes b and d and the windings 21 and 23 have their magnetic axis coinciding with the switching axis of the brushes primary a and c.
The stator winding 20 is a series winding carried by the primary current, in other words, by the current of the loop of the machines of use when the switch Y4 is closed. This winding is used to start the metadyne E and is excluded from the circuit once the start is finished by closing the switch Y, 3. The winding 21 is traversed by the current delivered by a regulating dynamo M wedged on the shaft H of the driving metadyne E.
The regulating dynamo M is connected to the constant voltage source 1 and excited in shunt by the winding 24 by means of the rheostat X;,. The latter allows the adjustment of the critical speed of the regulating dynamo M. The stator winding 22 is a series winding through which the secondary current flows. This winding 22 sends in the armature a magnetic flux whose axis is perpendicular to that of the primary brushes a, c.
It therefore induces an electro-motive force in these brushes and therefore creates, in the circuit of these brushes a, c, a current which can be added to the primary current, or withdrawn from it, depending on the direction of this winding 22 The metadyne E must operate at constant speed regardless of the load; if the charge increases, the metadyne tends to slow down, it is therefore necessary to oppose this tendency to slow down by reducing the inductive field, since any reduction in the field leads to an increase in speed.
Winding 23 is a series winding functioning as a hypocompensator and tending to reduce the speed deviations from the desired speed. For a rotation in the dextrorse direction and a winding of the machine in the dextrorse direction, the arrows on the stator windings indicate the direction of the corresponding ampere-turns. The torque of the driving metadyne E being equal to the product of the secondary flux and the primary current, if the latter is constant and the resistive torque varies, to restore equilibrium, the secondary flux must be varied, that is, i.e. varying the number of ampere-turns created by regulator winding 21.
The current passing through this winding 21 is equal to that passing through the regulating dynamo M and therefore varies in. depending on the deviation of the speed 4 n from the speed n, it is this which modifies them. amperes-turns of the winding 21, so as to restore the balance of the torques with a very small speed deviation from the critical speed. Under these conditions, the operating speed of metadyne E will be constant with great precision, whatever the load on the shaft H, provided that this load is included in the values of which the machine is capable.
The driving metadyne E further comprises 3 rings connected to 3 points equidistant from the induced winding; 3 sliding brushes collect the current from these 3 rings. The purpose of this provision is indicated below.
The driving metadyne F comprises an induced winding 36, 4 equidistant brushes a, b, c, d, a second induced winding 37 without a collector having the same number of turns as the rolling 26 of the motor E and 3 stator windings 30, 31 and 33. The stator winding 30 has its magnetic axis coinciding with the switching axis - secondary brushes b and d </ I > and is used to start the machine when switch Y "is closed.
Once the start-up is complete, the Y5 switch can be opened. The stator windings 31 and 33 have their magnetic axis coinciding with the switching axis of the primary brushes and the first is crossed by the current delivered by the regulating dynamo N wedged on the shaft K of the driving metadyne F. This regulating dynamo N is a shunt dynamo excited by winding 34 and it is connected to constant voltage source 1 via winding 31. The rheostat X6, inserted in the cir The excitation of the regulating dynamo N makes it possible to control its critical speed.
The winding 33 is a series compensating winding through which the primary current flows. Finally, the winding 37 is connected to a set of rings and sliding brushes 35 by three of its equidistant points. For the motor F, the speed is adjusted in the same way as for the motor E. Under these conditions, the driving metadyne F will rotate at a constant speed, approximately equal to the critical speed of the regulating dynamo N whatever the load on the shaft K. If we assume that the critical speed of governors M and N has been set to the same value, machines E and F will run at the same speed.
In addition, the brushes of the rings 35 being connected to the brushes of the rings 25 as shown in the figure, a synchronous torque is generated tending to maintain the 2 machines E and F not only at the same speeds but also at the same instantaneous angular position. .
The driving metadyne G comprises an armature with 4 equidistant brushes and 3 stator windings 40, 41 and 43, the first of which has its magnetic axis coinciding with the switching axis of the secondary brushes and the last 2 having their magnetic axis coinciding with the primary brush switching axis. The winding 40 is a series winding through which the primary current flows and which serves in particular for starting the machine while remaining in circuit during normal operation. Winding 41 is supplied by an amplifying metadyne S excited by the current delivered by the regulating dynamo R, current which passes through winding 46.
This regulating dynamo R and the amplifying metadyne S are wedged on the shaft L of the driving metadyne G. The regulating dynamo R is a shunt dynamo excited by a winding 44 and connected to the constant voltage source I. The critical speed of the regulating dynamo R is regulated by the rheostat X7. The amplifying metadyne S comprises 4 brushes a, b, c, d, the 2 primary brushes a and c being short-circuited and the 2 secondary brushes b and d supplying current to winding 41 of driving metadyne G.
The amplifying metadyne S comprises 2 stator windings whose magnetic axis coincides with the switching axis of the secondary brushes b and d. The winding 46 is, on As we have seen, the current supplied by the regulator R flows through and the winding 47 is a shunt winding through which the secondary current flows and functions as a hypocompensator. Thanks to the amplifying metadyne which amplifies the current of the regulator, the deviation of the speed from the critical speed thus becomes insignificant. In these conditions,
the driving metadyne G rotates at a constant speed approximately equal to the critical speed of the regulator R with great precision whatever the load. The precision with which the speed is kept constant is here increased compared to the F and E machines by the presence of the amplifying metadyne S. It is clear that an amplifying metadyne under the same conditions could also be provided for the F and E machines. It is also clear that the indicated amplifying metadyne S wedged on the shaft L of the motor G could also be driven by any other shaft at a constant speed.
Alternators can also be fitted on the H, K and L shafts, which under these conditions provide a constant frequency whatever the load. However, the machines E, F and G indicated in the figure as fitted with three-phase rings with sliding brushes can also operate as alternators at constant frequency and supply alternating current directly to terminals TI and T., sliding brushes. Under these conditions not only is a machine eliminated, but the engines themselves E, F and G are lighter than the engines which do not serve as alternators simultaneously.
It should be noted that it has been shown in FIG. 1 three different constant speed motors, but that one could provide an installation comprising three identical motors.
