Automatic clutch, especially for motor vehicles The invention relates to an automatic clutch, especially for motor vehicles. The inventive automatic clutch is provided with a clutch drum connected to the shaft to be driven and in connection with the driving shaft standing clutch shoes, which are connected to each other via handlebars and a multi-armed rotatable lever, the clutch jaws being brought to the drum by centrifugal force , and is characterized by the fact that the coupling jaws are suspended at the ends by means of two unequally long links,
namely at one end over the shorter handlebars on a hitch housing with the driving shaft in rigid connection and at the other end over the longer handlebars and the rotatable about the coupling axis th multi-armed lever with the same length handlebars one or several other jaws, the number of lever arms corresponding to the number of jaws.
It is advantageous if there are springs which counteract the centrifugal force in order to push the jaws back into the initial position (idle) after they have been actuated.
Appropriately, with two clutch jaws, the pivot pins of the handlebars lie on a straight line at each point of contact between the clutch jaws in the Leerlaüfstellimg. In one embodiment, the arrangement is provided in such a way that the centers of the axles of the pivot pins of the links that are located apart form the corner points of a rectangle. This ensures that when the clutch is engaged, the clutch jaws are sure to come into engagement with the inner surface of the clutch drum over their entire surface; even if the lining of the jaws has worn out over time.
In the drawing Ausführungsbei are shown games of the invention.
1 shows a cross section through a hitch along the line AA in FIG. 2, FIG. 2 shows a view and partially a section of the released clutch (idle position) along the line B-B in FIG. 1, _ FIG 3 shows a section through a handlebar connection along the line CC in FIG.
Fig. 4 to 7 schematic representations of the different positions of the clutch shoes in idle (Fug. 4), starting position (Fug. 5), full driving position (Fig..6) and full braking position (Fig.7), Fig.8 a view corresponding to FIG. 2 of another embodiment.
The coupling has a housing 1; which sits rotatably on a hollow shaft 9 via ball bearings 8, which is pushed onto the gear shaft (not shown) and connected to it by toothing 10.
The hollow shaft 9 is rigidly connected to the Kupp ment drum 11 or forms a piece with her. The clutch drum 11 can rotate freely in the chamber 4.
Furthermore, a double-armed lever 18 is seen, which advantageously sits rotatably on the hollow shaft 9 via a ball bearing 110 and lies between the two guide segments 13 for the coupling jaws 17. The guide segments 13 are rigidly connected to a support plate 3 located in the housing 1, which is attached to the housing 1, e.g. B. on the Ge housing cover 76, z. B. by in the Bohrun gene 105 inserted screws or derglei chen is attached.
As can be seen from the drawing, the coupling jaws 17 have a T-shaped cross-section and their web engages in slots 14 located in the guide segments 13.
As FIGS. 2 and 4 to 7 show, two clutch jaws 17 are provided in an approximately semicircular arc shape which have friction linings 16 on their circumference. The two clutch jaws 17 show approximately in the middle a light, fuzzy kink 111, through which they are divided into equal parts 17a and 17b.
The jaws are suspended by means of links 21, 80 which are of different lengths. For example, the links 21 are longer than the links 80. They are articulated to the ends of the coupling jaws 17, the links being arranged in pairs. The links 80 are connected to the coupling jaw part 17a via a pivot pin 79 and to the guide segment 13 on the base plate via a pivot pin 15.
The handlebars 21 are rotatable via a hinge pin 20 with the coupling jaw part 17b and also a hinge pin 20a with one end of the arms of the double-armed lever 18 connected. The links 21 advantageously engage in pocket-shaped recesses 22 in the arms of the lever 18, resulting in a compact design, which is also served by the recesses 78 provided in the middle part of the guide segments 13 and the correspondingly drawn-in middle part 77 of the clutch drum 11 .
The double-armed lever 18 is cushioned against the centrifugal force by means of springs 19, so that a soft application of the clutch jaws 17 is guaranteed on the drum. The springs 19 are advantageously guided in Aussparun gene 107, 108 of the guide segments 13 and the lever arms.
The strength of the springs 19 is advantageously chosen so that it is adapted to the number of revolutions of the particular engine in question. However, the clutch can also be applied to each motor by inserting one or more spacer disks 109 into the recesses 107 and 108, if necessary, before installation using the same springs 19.
In the end walls of the guide segments 13 elastic buffers 23, for. B. GLimmipuffer, let in, which attenuate the back swing of the lever 18 that occurs when the clutch is switched off.
The segments 13, the coupling jaws 17 together with the links 21, 80 and the double-armed lever 18 can be taken out of the housing 1 together with the support plate 3, whereby the assembly and disassembly of the coupling, eg. B. repairs, can be done easily and quickly.
Notwithstanding the illustrated Ausfüh tion, the support plate 3 may be missing. Then the guide segments 13 are attached to the housing cover, in which the pivot pin 15 z. B. are screwed so that the segments 13, the links 21, 80 and the lever 18 can be removed together with the cover 76.
If desired, openings 103, 104, 106 can be provided in the clutch housing 1 and in the clutch drum 11, through which the outside air can get into the clutch and cool it.
The clutch works as follows: The clutch housing 1 connected to the driving shaft, preferably the flywheel of the engine, takes the clutch jaws 17 via the pivot pin 15 and the link 80 with it when it rotates in the direction of the arrow by the engine. As a result of the centrifugal force, the clutch jaws move outwards, that is, against the inner circumference of the clutch drum 11, which is temporarily still and is connected via the hollow shaft 9 to the transmission shaft. During this movement of the clutch jaws 17, the links 80 rotate outwardly around the pivot pin 15 which is immovably connected to the guide segments 13 and thus also to the clutch housing 1,
while the handlebars 21 take the double-armed lever 18 with them and rotate around the hollow shaft 9. As a result of this movement, the clutch jaws 17 go from the rest position (idle, FIG. 4) to the beginning of the working position, with a portion of the jaw parts 17b being applied against the inner circumference of the clutch drum via the link 80. The clutch is in the engaged position (Fig. 5).
As the number of revolutions continues to increase, the adjacent parts of the jaw parts 17b move or roll accordingly on the inner drum surface until the resistance of the clutch drum that is still standing and connected to the transmission is overcome, the kinks lay firmly against the drum and now the Friction between the jaws and the drum begins to have an effect. At this moment, the coupling jaw parts 17a are placed against the drum wall and begin to wedge themselves more and more tightly with this until finally all parts rotate at the same speed.
Any slip in the clutch is definitely prevented here. The clutch is closed (Fig. 6).
The clutch is released or disengaged in reverse order by reducing the number of revolutions of the engine. If the motor is throttled, the speed of rotation of the clutch housing 1 slows down. This housing is therefore held back. This also holds back the clutch jaws. In addition, the centrifugal force also decreases according to the decrease in speed. However, the vehicle still maintains the higher speed assigned to it and accordingly rotates the gear shaft forward quickly so that, in other words, it opposes the sudden reduction in speed caused by the throttling of the engine.
Due to these two opposing forces, the clutch shoes are gradually loosened from the inner drum circumference while lifting the wedging, until ge only a small part of the clutch shoe parts 17a is on the drum. At this moment, the jaws are pressed in the opposite direction by the drum, which continues to rotate, via the guide rods 21, with more parts of their parts 17b now lying on the drum wall.
As a result of the frictional effect he automatically follows a new wedging, in which, however, the falling number of revolutions of the engine has an effect (Fig. 7). If the pressure of the vehicle decreases so far that the number of revolutions of the transmission is equal to the number of revolutions of the idling engine, the brake wedging is loosened, so that the clutch jaws 17 are now pushed back into the rest position by the springs 19 (Fig. 4) .
8 shows an embodiment in which the links 21, 80 are arranged in such a way that the pivot pins 20, 20a, 15, 79 each of a link pair lying on the same side of the coupling lie in the idle position on a straight line CD or EF and the axis in the middle of the trunnions 20, 79 lying apart form the corner points of a rectangle.
As this figure shows, the center point III of the drum inner surface and the center points II, IIa of the jaw outer surfaces do not coincide in the idle position. If the clutch shoes are not worn, however, they shift when changing from the idle position to the working position, so that all three center points coincide with one another.
When the clutch lining is worn, the centers II, IIa move slightly outwards in all positions relative to the center III.
As can also be seen in FIG. 8, the two adjacent ends of the clutch jaws 17 in the idle position lie symmetrically on both sides of the extended straight connecting line G-H, which through the center points of the inner joint pin 20a of the two links 21 goes. When the clutch is working, these are both pivoted and shifted somewhat as a result of the movement of the lever 18.
The arrangement according to Figure 8 has the effect that when the clutch is engaged, the clutch jaws attack the inner surface of the clutch drum over their entire surface, even if their lining wears off over time. Since the coupling effect is increased and furthermore the heat generated as a result of the friction between the clutch lining 16 and the inner wall of the drum is evenly distributed. In addition, the wear on the coupling surfaces is less and more even.
Even if the surface wears out, any slip is definitely avoided. Even after the clutch lining is completely worn out, the clutch engagement remains constant, so that the clutch can still be used to such an extent that, with careful driving, the next repair point can be reached to have the clutch lining replaced there.
To facilitate the consolidation and exchange of the drum 11 with its central part 77, it is advantageously made of two pieces which are rigidly connected to one another by riveting or the like.
To achieve good ventilation and at the same time to save material, several bores 112 are provided through the segments 13 and the housing cover 76.
The coupling described can easily and simply be installed in the existing flywheel of cars or trucks such as tractors, tractors, buses, diesel engines and electric motors, etc. in place of the old ones.
Since the clutch works completely automatically, the clutch linkage, in particular the foot lever, is omitted, so that above all leg injuries are given a possibility to drive and every driver is given the necessary safety feeling in traffic.
The coupling works completely dry, does not require any maintenance or lubrication and works after installation in such a way that readjustment or other technical changes are completely unnecessary.
The clutch works in such a way that a natural power transmission and full utilization of the engine power is possible. The engine is started with complete separation from the transmission and is therefore easier to operate in the cold. This ensures a significant reduction in the load on the battery, less stress on the starter and immediate starting of the engine. The engine cannot be overstrained when starting, so that the engine does not roar when starting.
When the engine is idling, a noiseless shifting through of all gears is possible with motor vehicles, as the engine is automatically disconnected from the transmission when idling.
When accelerating, the clutch always automatically engages after the one-time setting to the number of engine revs before installation. Overloading the motor is therefore impossible, because 'in the event of an overload, the clutch automatically releases. As a result, the engine cannot stall even when the gear is engaged. The automatic coupling results in noticeable fuel savings.
The clutch is particularly advantageous in city traffic, as only the accelerator pedal and the foot brake need to be operated. Therefore, comfortable, quiet and therefore safe driving is guaranteed. It is not necessary to take out the aisle when stopping the car. While stopping, you can switch to the desired gear, which gives you an immediate quick start. The clutch enables a smooth start, regardless of the nature of the ground and the selected gear.
It also reduces the risk of skidding when braking on wet and icy roads and when braking in a panic. This is achieved by the fact that the motor and transmission cannot be separated at the moment of braking, so that the motor always remains switched on even under sudden braking.
Finally, the clutch has the great advantage that the good properties of engine braking, for example for driving moments or intended protection of the foot brake, are completely retained.
The wear on the friction surfaces is practically insignificant. In comparative tests carried out, which extended over 25,000 km in city, overland and off-road journeys under different drivers and under extreme stress, only barely measurable wear could be determined on the friction surfaces.
The coupling according to the invention can be used advantageously not only for motor vehicles, but also wherever large power transmissions are required.
