Fig. 2 zeigt einen Axialsehnitt des Län- genmessgerätes.
Length measuring device for great lengths
The present invention relates to a length measuring device for large lengths, in particular lengths over 1.5 meters, and is intended, for example, for checking the alignment and roundness of large bores. If the workpiece is machined on a horizontal lathe, and if the measurement is to be made in at least two mutually perpendicular directions, it must be measured horizontally at least once. If the workpiece is machined on a vertical lathe, measurements must be made in the horizontal direction under all circumstances.
When measuring in the horizontal direction, there is the difficulty with great lengths that the measuring element sags considerably and thus the measurement is falsified by inadmissibly large amounts. According to the present invention, this diameter can be limited to an insignificant amount, even with great lengths, in that the measuring element is supported on a supporting element which is under tension. The slack of the support element is very small when there is a large pull and the measuring element, which is preferably supported at several points on the support element, has an equally small slack without being subjected to any tensile or compressive forces.
An exemplary embodiment of the length measuring device according to the invention is shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows the entire measuring device in view when measuring a bore diameter, and
2 shows an axial section of the length measuring device.
The measuring element 1, designed as a measuring rod or measuring tube, is mounted in a support tube 2 by means of support rings 3 so that it can be axially displaced, but radially with as little play as possible. Screws 4 and 5 are inserted into the ends of the tube 2, which serve on the one hand for the radial guidance of the measuring rod 1 and on the other hand for the axial support of rings 6. Rings 7 with a corresponding counter-spherical surface are supported on both sides of the spherical surfaces of the rings 6. The rings 7 are firmly connected to a pressure pipe 8. The pipe 2 is supported on the pressure pipe 8 by means of support rings 9.
The inner support rings 3 are preferably evenly distributed over the entire length of the measuring device, while the outer support rings 9 are better provided only at a minimum distance from the center of the rod, for example 1/4 of the rod length from the ends.
A sehlussstüek 20 with a protruding measuring element 21 is inserted into the screw 5 of the length measuring device.
In order to always hold the measuring element 1 in the same position in the support tube 2 when the measuring device is at rest, a disk 22 secured by means of a Seger ring is provided on the measuring element I, which presses the spring 23 against the stop formed by the screw 5. The other end of the spring 23 is supported against a ring 24 screwed to the tube 2.
The screw 4 is provided with an external thread, with which a relatively short extension piece 19 of a certain length is attached. Additional extension pieces with corresponding male and female threads could be attached to this extension piece 19 in a manner not shown, with a micrometer screw and a dial gauge also being provided in the outermost extension piece. By attaching extension pieces in this way, the measuring device can be used for a specific measuring range, for example for a range of approximately 3 to 3.5 m if the length of the length measuring device is 3 m.
A support sleeve is attached to the pressure tube 8 to support the extensions. This support sleeve has a ge slotted jacket 10, which is screwed to a funnel-shaped holder 11 at the left end. On the right end of the jacket 10 located on the tube 8, an adjusting ring 12 with a conical suit 13 is placed. By completely screwing the adjusting ring 12 onto the casing 10, it is pressed onto the tube 8 at the right end.
On the right-hand end of the pressure tube 8, a seated, externally threaded ring 14 is loosely held by a viewing hood, which protrudes from the slotted jacket 10. On the ring 14 there is an adjusting ring 15 with a conical tightening 16. If this adjusting ring 15 is screwed all the way to the right in FIG. 2, the slotted ring 14 and thus the slotted jacket 10 is pressed onto the tube 8. When the adjusting ring 15 and the adjusting ring 12 are released, the jacket 10 can be pushed into the desired position on the tube 8, i.e. into the position in which the supporting surface 17 of the holder 11 rests on the supporting surface 18 of the foremost extension piece 19.
The support sleeve can now be supported at two points on the tube 8 by tightening the adjusting rings 12 and 15, whereby the position of the same and the extensions with respect to the tube 8 is fixed.
When assembling the length measuring device shown, the following procedure is used, for example:
First, the measuring element 1 is pushed into the heated tube 2 provided with the support rings 3, the ring 24, the spring 23 and the disk 22. The outer parts, the pressure pipe 8 with the rings 7 and the rings 6 are then pushed onto the pipe 2. Then the screws 4 and 5 are inserted and screwed tightly so that no axial play remains between the tubes 2 and 8 or the parts connecting them to one another. When the tube 2 cools down, a tensile stress arises in it, which is transmitted to the pressure tube 8 via the parts 4, 5, 6 and 7.
In the completed state of the length measuring device, the support tube 2 is therefore constantly under tension and can therefore hang only by a small amount when the measuring device is horizontal.
However, this also prevents the dipstick 1 from sagging through the support rings 3 in the tube 2. Parts 6 and 7 are provided with spherical surfaces so that machining inaccuracies on the bearing surfaces of the tubes 2 and 8 do not lead to torques in the connecting points of these tubes, which could cause permanent bending of these tubes. This ensures that only pure train or. Pressure forces act on pipes 2 and 8.
By supporting the pressure tube 8 on the pulling roller 2, the buckling resistance of the pressure tube 8 is increased by the centering forces of the pulling tube 2 counteracting any buckling. These mutual support points also shorten both the free buckling length in the pressure tube 8 and the free sagging length of the draw tube 2, which means that the amounts of the maximum buckling and: the maximum sag can be significantly reduced.
With a length measuring device 3 m long, it was found that the sag of the unstressed tube 2 supported at the ends with the measuring rod 1 was around ten times the sag of the tube 2, which was under tension and supported on the tube 8.
The support sleeve 10, 11 finally ensures that longer rows of attached extension pieces 19 do not have to absorb any external forces and therefore do not show any noticeable sag.
The two tubes 2 and 8 surrounding the measuring stick 1 or the hollow space enclosed between them result in very good thermal insulation of the measuring stick, which contributes significantly to the good constancy of the length thereof.
