Description
Process for separating fine particles, especially dust. Various devices are in use to separate fine particles, in particular dust from air or other gases.
On the one hand, porous filters, for example made of fabric, are used for this purpose, on the other hand eddy current separators, so-called cyclones, are built, and finally electrostatic precipitators are known in which the particles are given electrical charges by placing the particles between, for example, wire-shaped electrodes through which there is a very high electrical voltage. These particles are then led past other metallic electrodes where they are discharged and deposited.
The invention relates to a method and a device for separating the dust and other fine particles, which is characterized in that the particles are charged with the aid of static electricity and then separated.
To carry out the method according to the invention, a vortex separator or cyclone can be used, for example, wholly or partially from a good electrical insulator, for example from the branded product Plexi; glass or another organic glass, and blow the air flow with the particles to be separated into this separator.
When the particles come into contact with the wall of the separator, they are electrically charged as a result of the frictional electricity and the separation is greatly improved by this charging. In this way one has the combined effect of the electrostatic effects and the eddy current separation.
Of course, any other device for carrying out the method according to the invention can also be built, in which case the particles to be separated are generally guided past a well-insulating material in the air stream. You can make the pipes for the pneumatic line yourself from the insulator or build in these pipes, or isolie-generating plates, rods or the like in deposition chambers.
