80 Teile 'Staybelite Ester Nr.10 und 60 Teile Toluol ergeben zusammen eine Vis kosität von etwa 15,5 ep bei 20 . <I>Beispiel 5:</I> In einem Kneter nach Beispiel 1 verknetet man unter Kühlring eine Mischung aus 50 Teilen des Pigments aus dianotiertem 2,5- Dichlor-l-aminobenzol und 1-(2'-Oxy-3'-naph- thoyl)-amino-2;;
<I>Beispiel 6:</I> In der im Beispiel 1 beschriebenen Knet- apparatur behandelt man unter Kühlung eine Mischung von '60 Teilen des Pigments aus dia.zotiertem 2;

<I>Beispiel 8:</I> In einem Kneter nach Beispiel 1 behan delt man unter Kühlung eine Mischung aus 32 Teilen des Pigments aus dianotiertem 2- Methyl-4-chlor-l-aminobenzol und 1-(2'-Oxy- 3'-naphthoyl) -amino-2-methyl -4 - chlorbenzol, 32 Teilen Acetylcellulose (54;

Auflage, I:rg. Band II, 'S. 1.95).
Process for the production of pigment preparations. In practice, there is often a need for pigments that are in finely dispersed form and that can be introduced directly into organic materials such as paints, oil-based paints, plastics of all types and, in particular, spinning solutions, in such a way that To pigment the material, the pigment is distributed as finely as possible.
It is known that, in individual cases, pigments in particularly organic media, for example in solutions of ethyl cellulose in acetone, by intensive mechanical processing, for example by kneading and / or Treat on a roller mill, can be finely dispersed. However, this method is limited in its applicability insofar as it requires an extremely tough medium and very intensive mechanical treatment.
(The result of the present invention is a process which is capable of very general application and allows pigment preparations to be produced for all practically relevant needs. The inventive method for producing pigment preparations is characterized by the fact that one organ medium,
which is solid at? 0 'C or is a liquid with a viscosity of at least 10 ep, subjects a pigment to mechanical processing in the presence of steel bodies, grinding and dispersing the pigment, and washes the grinding bodies from the dispersion obtained .
The pigments that come into consideration for the present process can, in particular if they are not too hard a grain, be inorganic in nature, such as Russ Li. A. m .; But they can also be organic in nature and belong, for example, to the group of azo dyes, vat dyes, phthalocyanines and other water-insoluble dyes.
The organic media outlined above, which are used in accordance with the present process, can represent, for example, oils or plasticizers, such as animal or vegetable oils, mineral oils or dibutyl phthalate and other compounds of generally very high boiling point, such as those used as plasticizers in the Lackindu strie are known.
The organic media mentioned can also be solutions of solid or plastic substances in comparatively low-boiling organic solvents such as toluene, for example solutions of refined natural resins, synthetic resins, in particular those belonging to the non-hardening series, rubber, Rubber derivatives and organic, soluble cellulose derivatives. Finally, s <B> s </B> can also be fusible in certain cases; Solid compounds of the type mentioned can be used in the form of a melt at ordinary temperature, for example melting of rosin.
The grinding media to be used according to the present method must have the property of being washable from the organic medium mentioned. In the simplest case, ordinary organic salts such as sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium sulfate, barium chloride and the like can be used as grinding media. a. m., can be used, which can be seen in a simple manner with the help of water from%.
A natural condition for the milling bodies is, of course, that they do not dissolve in the organic medium used under the working conditions or that they do not dissolve in it to any significant extent, because otherwise they cannot be effective as milling bodies. In addition, you will expediently use such grinding media which do not react chemically with the rest of the constituent parts of the mixture to be ground. These conditions are practically always met in the case of simple and inexpensive inorganic salts.
The use of grinding media which cannot be washed out with water but with acidic or alkaline solutions is possible in the present process, but generally offers more disadvantages than advantages.
While there is generally no advantage in using organic compounds as grinding media in view of the good effect and the low price of the organic salts mentioned, it should be noted that in special cases organic grinding media can also be used. For example, urea is practically insoluble in acetone and in an acetone solution of acetylellulose, so that it can be used in this context. Urea can then be washed out with the help of ethyl alcohol, which does not dissolve the acetyl cellulose.
The mechanical treatment according to the present method can be carried out on apparatus of known construction, for example in agitators and mixers that are set up for processing relatively viscous media, also chairs on rollers and especially in kneaders from the Werner & Pfleiderer system. Depending on the medium used, processing can take place at room temperature or, if necessary, at a higher or lower temperature.
In the case of using actual melts which remain solid at room temperature, it is expedient to work at that temperature at which there is a favorable viscosity of the organic metal.
Of particular technical importance is the possibility of using any mixing, stirring or kneading units with a relatively low energy requirement, since the viscosity of the organic medium can be changed within wide limits, and in the case of a relatively low viscosity with corresponding extension the kneading time in spite of which the desired fineness of the pigment is achieved.
On the other hand, it is also possible to work on kneading units of the heaviest type (for example dispersion kneaders from Werner & Pfleiderer), of course with appropriate modification of the kneading approach, with the kneading required to achieve the necessary pigment fineness if the viscosity of the organic medium is correspondingly high. significantly reduced duration.
The removal of the grinding media from the dispersion obtained by mechanical processing is carried out according to the present invention by washing out. Basically there is the option of washing out from the organic medium. with the help of a practically immiscible solvent; solvent to remove the grinding media. In the simplest case, this solvent can be water. When working with a melt, it is advantageous to proceed in such a way that after cooling it is mechanically comminuted and the grinding media is washed out from it.
If a sufficiently strong kneader is used, the grinding media can be removed directly by kneading the melt with a solvent, for example water. There is also the possibility of first removing the solvent from an organic medium consisting of a solid or semi-solid substance and a solvent, and then removing the grinding media from the then solid or semi-solid, suitably mechanically comminuted product.
remove by washing out. Finally there. There are also cases where the solid components of the organic medium are precipitated by adding water or a non-system solvent, whereupon the grinding media can be washed out in a similar manner. For example, an acetyl cellulose solution can be precipitated with water or ethyl alcohol and the grinding media can then be washed out of the product, which has expediently been mechanically crushed beforehand.
If the organic medium contains a solvent, this can optionally be removed by evaporation after the grinding media have been dissolved out.
If the organic medium contains a solvent that is miscible with the solvent that is used to wash out the grinding media, and if the non-volatile part of the organic medium is kneadable under heat, the solvent and grinding media can be washed out with one another under heat , whereby a melt is obtained consisting of pigment and a substance that is plastic when exposed to heat. Any solvent still present in the melt and used for washing can be removed, for example, by direct evaporation in the kneader.
The organic medium can be freely selected within extremely wide limits and can therefore be adapted to the particular intended use of the pigment preparations. Depending on whether the pigment preparation is to be used for coloring acetylcellixlose, varnishes, etc., the pigment preparation can be put together in such a way that its organic medium is compatible with the varnish in question.
The process is particularly advantageous for the production of pigment preparations which can be used for spin-dyeing the most varied of synthetic fibers, for example for spin-dyeing acetate rayon, fibers made from super polyamides. and 'super-polyurethanes and fibers made from polyacrylic derivatives, in particular polyacrylonitrile, super polyesters of the t'erephthalic acid glycol ester type and synthetic fibers made from polyvinyl compounds.
According to the present process, it is generally possible in a relatively short time to achieve a very fine distribution of the pigment, with less than to the limit of the optical resolution, even in those cases in which the distribution obtained by other processes is insufficient becomes. For example, according to the present process, it is possible to grind the phthalocyanines obtained in the production in very coarse form, for example copper phthalocyanine, directly without prior reprecipitation from sulfuric acid.
The advantage here is that conversion, for example of the copper phthalocyanine into the so-called a-form, is avoided, so that the copper phthalocyanine originally present in the f-form directly into a technically very valuable one without changing the crystal structure Pigment preparation is converted.
The proportions between pigment and organic medium are not critical and can be varied within relatively wide limits. However, for the maintenance of a fine dispersion, it is advantageous not to use too small amounts of plastic, plasticizers and the like. at the. to use, expediently so much that the amount of pigment in the end product is generally not essential Lich more than half.
Likewise, the quantitative ratio between pigment and grinding media can be changed within wide limits. A relatively low proportion of grinding media, for example about a fifth of the amount of pigment, leads to long processing times. It is advantageous to use at least the same number of parts of grinding media as pigment parts, but in general not more than five times the amount of grinding media is used, since otherwise there will be too great a loss of volume when washing out and, moreover, the toughness of the algae to be processed will be adversely affected.
If the organic medium consists of a synthetic resin, a cellulose derivative or the like and an organic solvent, the amount of solvent is expediently measured in such a way that when working in a kneader a good kneading material is produced so that the desired degree of distribution of the pigment is achieved quickly .
The following examples explain the present invention; in this case, the parts are parts by weight, unless otherwise indicated, the parts by weight relate to the parts by volume like kilograms to liters, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
<I> Example 1: </I> 60 parts of copper phthalocyanine (reprecipitated from sulfuric acid by the usual method), 120 parts of Staybelite ester No. 1 are placed in a coolable kneading apparatus, Werner & Pfleiderer system.
10 (glycerol ester of hydrogenated rosin), 12 parts of sodium chloride (grinding media) and 3 parts of toluene .. flat kneads with the kneader closed and under cooling until the desired degree of fineness of the pigment of 1 micron and below is reached. Then the sodium chloride is washed out of the putty by passing in water.
The kneading compound itself is retained, the drainage of the -N # @ 'water is expediently carried out into a channel around the kneader or through a drainage opening at a suitable height. The salt-free kneaded product is dried in a vacuum oven at 85 and finally ground in a roller mill. The putty can of course also be dried in the kneader itself, provided that this offers technical advantages.
If, instead of the above-mentioned pigment, crude copper phthaloeyanine is used (obtained, for example, by reacting phthalic acid anhydride with urea in trichlorobenzene by the customary process), a preparation is obtained whose pigment content consists of pure copper -Copper phthalocyanine.
A product with similar properties is obtained if the pigments mentioned in the above examples are replaced. are by the pigment, which is obtained by chlorinating copper phthalocyanine (G. Schultz, dye tables, 7th edition, Erg. Volume 1I, p. 195) and otherwise according to the same before writing.
120 parts of Staybelite ester No. 10 and 30 parts of toluene result in an organic oil which at 20 has a viscosity of about <B> C </B> <B> 060 </B> cp.
<I> Example </I> In the kneader described in Example 1, a mixture of 60 parts of the pigment obtained from diazotized 2 - i @ lethyl-4-chloro-1-aminobenzene and 1- (2 ' -Oxy-3'-naphthoyl) -amino-2-methyl-4-ehlorbenzol, 120 parts of Staybelite ester No. 10, 120 parts of 1Vatriumehloric1 (grinding media) and 40 parts of Tolliol until the desired degree of fineness of the pigment is reached .
Then, as in Example 1, the sodium chloride is washed out of the modeling clay by introducing water; these dried in a vacuum oven at 85 and finally ground in a roller mill.
If, in the above example, instead of 120 parts of sodium chloride, 120 parts of anhydrous sodium sulfate or 120 parts of cane sugar are used as grinding media and the rest of the procedure is carried out according to the same instructions, then the result is. one identical products.
120 parts of Staybelite Ester No. 10 and 40 parts of toluene give a viscosity of about 556 cp at 20. Example- <I> 3: </I> In a heatable kneading system Wer ner & Pfleiderer, one gives 3fl0 parts 4,4'-dimethyl-6,6'-dichl, oi-thoindi "), o in the form of a water-containing press cake with a pigment content of 2:
01 / o, and <B> 60, </B> parts of dibutyl plithalate. It is heated with steam, and after a short time it forms a kneading mass. The pigment-free water which has separated out is removed, then kneading is continued under heating until the water still in the kneading mass has evaporated. Now nian 90 parts of sodium chloride (Mahlkör per) are added and kneaded with cooling until the desired degree of fineness of the pigment is achieved.
After the sodium chloride has been washed out by introducing water, the paste obtained is freed from the remaining water in a vacuum oven at 8: 3 "".
Pigment powder can just as well be used instead of the press cake. One kneads. for example 60 'parts of the pigment from dianotated 2-methyl-4-chloro-1-, uninobenzene and 1 - ("2'-oxy-3'-naphthoyl) - ainino-2-methyl-4-chlorobenzene, 60' Parts of dibutoviplialate and 90 parts of sodium chloride as in (A) s, an analogous product being obtained.
In the same way, a pigment preparation based on 60 parts of the calcium salt of the azo dye from dianotier ter 1-amino-4-methylbenzene-2-sulfonic acid and \? - Oxynaphtlialin - 3 - carboxylic acid.
Dibutylphthalate has a viscosity of about 2'1 cp at '20.

The kneading mass is then placed in a vacuum cabinet and the toluene is distilled off at 85 °. '' The dry product is ground as finely as possible in a hammer mill and treated with 2000 parts of cold water,
to which 3 parts of the sodium salt of a condensation product of formaldehyde with a naphthalene-2-sulfonic acid predominantly containing naphthalene-2-sulfonic acid, commonly referred to as sodium dinaphthylmethanedisulfonic acid, were added, stirred for 20 hours.
It is filtered off with suction, the sodium carbonate is completely washed out with water and dried in a vacuum oven at 815. The product obtained is a soft powder that can be easily rubbed into a homogeneous paste with toluene.
80 parts of Staybelite Ester No. 10 and 60 parts of toluene together give a viscosity of about 15.5 ep at 20. <I> Example 5: </I> In a kneader according to Example 1, a mixture of 50 parts of the pigment of dianotized 2,5-dichloro-1-aminobenzene and 1- (2'-oxy-3'- naphthoyl) -amino-2 ;;
5-dimethoxybenzene, 50 parts of ethyl cellulose, 50 parts of sodium chloride (grinding media) and 90 parts of toluene to achieve the desired degree of fineness. The sodium chloride is washed out by introducing water, then the kneader is heated to evaporate the water still in the kneading mass and finally freed from the remaining toluene in a vacuum cabinet at 85.
The product is ground again in a hammer mill. If the pigment cibanon blue RS (Color Index 1.922, No. 11:06) is used instead of the above pigment and the rest of the procedure is carried out according to the same instructions, an analogous product is obtained.
120 parts of chlorinated rubber result in. 100 parts of toluene has a viscosity of about 33,000 cp at 2011. Example 7: In the kneader described in Example 1, 20 parts of copper phthalocyanine (reprecipitated from sulfuric acid according to the usual method) and 40 parts of acetyl cellulose are added (54.5 / o bound acetic acid), 40 parts sodium chloride (hollow body)
and 80 parts of methyl glycol. One kneaded with cooling until the desired degree of fineness was reached. The kneading material is then placed in a vacuum cabinet, the methylglycol is distilled off at 85 and the product is ground as finely as possible in a hammer mill. The powder obtained is stirred for 20 hours with 1000 parts of cold water to which 2 g of sodium di-naphthylmethanedisulfonic acid (cf. Example 4) has been added to improve the wetting of the dye preparation.
It is filtered off with suction, the sodium chloride is washed off completely with water and dried in a vacuum oven at 8.5. The finished product is a fine-grained powder that no longer needs to be ground.

A mixture of 200 parts of the above solution, 37.5 parts of chlorinated copper phthaloeyanine (CT. Schultz, Parbstofftabellen, 7th Edition, Erg. Volume II, p. 195) and 150 parts of sodium chloride is treated in a kneader according to Example 1, with cooling (Grinding bodies) until the desired pigment fineness is achieved. Then there. 200 parts of water are added and kneaded until a fine-grain paste is formed. This is placed on a suction filter and the sodium chloride is completely washed out with water.
After drying in a vacuum cabinet at 85, it is ground in a hammer mill. <I> Example 11 </I> A solution is prepared from 50 parts of a commercially available polyacrylonitrile and 150 parts of dimethylformamide. This gels at 20.
130 parts of the above solution, 16.25 parts of Cibanon blue RS (Color Index 19122i, No. 1106) and 32.5 parts of sodium chloride (grinding media) are placed in a kneader according to Example 1. So that a kneading mass is formed immediately, it is heated briefly with steam, then kneaded with cooling until the desired fineness is reached.
100 parts of water are then added and the mixture is kneaded until a pulpy mass is obtained. This is brought to a table and the sodium chloride and dimethylformamide with it. Water washed out completely. It is dried in a vacuum oven at 85 and ground in a hammer mill.

Edition, I: rg. Volume II, 'S. 1.95). In order to quickly form a putty, it is heated briefly with steam, then cooled and kneaded until the desired degree of fineness of the pigment is reached. The kneader is then heated up, then the diacetone alcohol and sodium chloride are washed out completely by introducing hot food, and the kneading mass is then freed from any remaining -NVase water by treating it with steam-heated kneading.
The melt obtained is unloaded and ground after the cold in a roller mill. If the kneading is sufficiently strong, the melt can be allowed to cool in this and then, taking advantage of the great brittleness of the preparation, it can be crushed by running the kneader. Mail received. a granular to powdery mass that can be easily poured out.
45 parts of Staybelite Ester No. 10 provide with. <B> 1.] </B> parts of diaeetone alcohol a viscosity of about 21500 ep at 20. If a particularly strong kneading unit is used, for example a dispersion kneader from Werner & Pfleiderer, the amount of diacetone alcohol can be reduced significantly, for example to about 0.75 parts, and otherwise as indicated work; finely ground sodium chloride is best used.
<I> Example 13: </I> In a heatable kneader, Wer ner & Pfleiderer system, a melt of 40 parts rosin is kneaded at 120 (20 solid, at 120 about <B> 90010 </B> ep), 20 'Parts of the pigment from diazotized 2-methyl-4-chloro-1-aminobenzene and 1- (2'-oxy-3 @ -naphthoyl) -amino-2-methyl-4-chlorobenzene and 30 parts of sodium chloride (grinding media), to the ge. desired degree of fineness of the pigment is achieved.
