Fig. 1 zeigt eine erste Ausführungsform.
Device for non-contact measurement of the thickness of strip-shaped material, in particular for continuous measurement of the strip thickness of moving rolled material.
The invention relates to a device for non-contact measurement of the thickness of strip-shaped material, in particular for continuous measurement of the strip thickness of moving rolled material, in which the intensity differences are displayed using a radiation source, radiation-sensitive measuring receivers and a Mā plate representing the nominal thickness value show the measuring receivers the thickness deviations of the goods from the target value.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that in a beam between the radiation source and the one receiver the measuring plate and in another beam between the radiation source and the other measurement receiver is only the item to be measured during the measurement, and dā before and after the measurement, instead of the material to be measured, a measuring plate is also inserted into the corresponding beam, the incidence and retraction of which occurs automatically depending on the entry and exit of the material to be measured from the beam.
What is achieved by the invention is that the two measuring receivers are always acted upon evenly, whether the item to be measured is running through the device or not.
This greatly contributes to an increase in the accurate operation of the device.
Any radiation energy that is suitable for measuring can be used as the radiation source, for example an X-ray tube or radioactive radiation source with gamma or beta rays or other corresponding radiation energy.
In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is illustrated in two exemplary embodiments.
Fig. 1 shows a first embodiment.
2 and 3, another embodiment is shown in longitudinal and cross-section.
The device according to FIG. 1 has a radiation source, for example an X-ray tube 1, and two measuring receivers 2 and 3, preferably Geiger-Müller counter tubes, which are housed in a carriage so that they can be displaced across the width of the rolling stock 6 perpendicular to the rolling direction. The radiation from the X-ray tube 1 is guided by. Openings of a shielding plate 4, for example a lead plate, directed at the receivers 2 and 3.
The nominal value measuring plate 5, arranged between the measuring receivers 2, 3 and the plate 4, made of the material of the goods to be measured, has the nominal thickness of this good, so deass ¯ in the idle state! The measuring receivers 2 and 3 show the same radiation intensity or can be adjusted accordingly. For this purpose, the plate 5 is shifted so far that the beams 7 and 8 pass through the measuring plate at the same time as long as the item 6 to be measured is not in the beam 8 (that is, out of the measuring position).
In the measuring position, the measuring plate 5 is pulled back so far that the beam to the measuring receiver 3 passes it and its intensity is only influenced by the passage through the rolling stock, while the intensity of the beam to the measuring receiver 2 is determined unchanged by the thickness of the measuring plate 5 . The reading of the intensity difference between the measuring receivers 2 and 3 shows the deviation of the thickness of the material to be measured from the target thickness in terms of size and sign.
In the rest position, i.e. before and after the measurement, the desired thickness of the rolling stock is set. Adjustment is easy because both beams go through the same measuring plate.
For this purpose, the bundles are stored close together so that the direction of impact is almost the same.
The measuring plate 5 is actuated automatically, for example in the manner that. ¯ the plate 5 is withdrawn from the beam 8 with the aid of an actuator and an electromagnet 9 when the rolling stock enters the device. When the end of the rolling stock leaves the device, the plate 5 is immediately shifted again into the area of the bundle 8 with the aid of a spring 10. In this way, the measuring receivers are always uniformly acted upon. This embodiment is particularly suitable for measuring rolling stock in a hot, glowing state, since it allows the measuring receiver 3 to be arranged at a sufficient distance from the hot rolling stock in order to protect it from heat radiation.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 2 and 3, a beam 12 also leads from the radiation source 11 through the good T3 that is moved past and is to be measured and acts on a measuring receiver 14, for example a Geiger Miiller counter tube. The bundle of rays used for the comparison measurement is placed in such a way that the former is not adversely affected by scattered rays or the like
Beam 12 can not affect.
In the example, the axis of the bundle of rays 15 is approximately at right angles to the bundle of rays 112. The bundle of rays 15 passes through the target value measuring plate 16 to the measuring receiver 17. It is essential that the measuring receivers 14 on the one hand and the measuring plate on the other hand 16 and the item to be measured 1t3 are at the same distance from the radiation source 11. By maintaining these approximately equal distances, it is achieved that some
Scattered rays in both cases are the same in their effect on the measuring receiver.
These higher demands on the measuring accuracy compared to the arrangement according to FIG. 1 can be made in the arrangement according to FIG. 2 because it is intended for rolling stock at a low temperature. In the beam path between the radiation source
11 and the measuring receiver 14 a white direct measuring plate 18 is then introduced when the material to be measured 13 has left the beam ver. This measuring plate 18 ′ moves to the point of the item 13 to be measured, so that the spacing relationships are always maintained with the measuring plate. To this
In this way, identical comparison conditions are obtained as a prerequisite for a high level of accuracy in the evaluation.
The measuring plate
18 can be automatically brought into the beam bundle in any way when the product 13 has run out, for example mechanically through the product 13 itself or electrically through a magnet or the like. When the good 13 enters the device, the measuring plate 18 is also automatically withdrawn from the beam. In the drawing, the Mā plate 18 is pivoted by a lever 20 which can be rotated about the point 19 and which is in contact with the item 13.
Radiation source and measuring receiver are advantageously housed in 'housings 2' and 22, which are kept under excess pressure in order to protect all sensitive parts particularly effectively against damage caused by foreign bodies, for example iron oxides in hot rolling mills.
To increase the working accuracy, provision can also be made to ensure that the steady state of the measuring receiver and also of the radiation source always remains unchanged, which is a prerequisite for a perfect and reliable evaluation of the differential readings. For this purpose, the cooling of both the radiation source, for example the X-ray tube, and the measuring receiver are mutually coordinated in such a way that these parts are evenly heated over longer periods of operation.
This can be achieved, for example, by the coolant flowing through the other parts of the measuring receiver, which is heated the most, with the interposition of regulators in the circuit.
The contactless measurement of running material has already been tried in various ways. For example, a Ge rat for sheet thickness measurement is known in which gamma and beta rays are used by using radium or a radioactive isotope of strontium, which pass through the sheet to be measured and are registered on the other side with the help of a counter tube or the like. The absorption of the rays or the scattered radiation forms the direct measure for the measurement. It is also known to use non-contact thickness measurement.
To carry out the help of Röntgengetröhret In one case, two X-ray tubes are used, one of which shines through the workpiece and the other a comparison piece. Luminescent screens are used for display, the light of which is absorbed by the photocathodes of two electron multipliers.
The reliability of such a device depends on the fact that the X-ray tubes have to be coordinated and calibrated, which complicates the entire device.
It has also already been proposed to use only one X-ray tube and to measure the intensity of the radiation penetrating the material to be measured with an ionization chamber or the like. The strength of the goods is determined directly on the basis of the dependence of the intensity on the thickness according to the known exponential law. In another case, the intensity of two identical X-ray beams from the same radiation source is compared with one another, one of which goes through the rolled strip to be measured and the other through a piece of the same material with a specified nominal thickness.
The arrangement here is such that the bundle of rays passing through the material to be measured is also sent through another measuring wedge. Thus, on the one hand, the strip thickness of the material to be measured is also compared to a measuring wedge thickness versus a gauge wedge thickness on the other side.
Such an arrangement has one. Relatively complicated apparatus for evaluating on the display device and making adjustments.
