Optical display device for electrical voltages, particularly used for tuning display. In the known optical display devices for electrical voltages, such as those used in particular as tuning indicators in 1liinclfunkgeräte, an arrangement is used which consists of a cathode, one or more deflection electrodes and an approximately cup-shaped fluorescent screen concentrically surrounding the cathode.
The deflection electrode or electrodes exist. made of rod-shaped struts arranged parallel to the cathode. With such Mblenkstreben one achieves a shadow sector of max. 100 if you bring the deflecting strut to cathode potential.
This angle of 100 is in many cases not sufficient for precise coordination. Efforts are being made to increase the deflection angle by using a deflection plate in place of the deflection strut, the plane of which goes through the cathode axis and the edge of which faces the cathode axis.
With standard deflector plates, however, one does not achieve a significantly greater deflection sensitivity than when using deflection struts. The electrical transverse fields that develop between the control electrode and the surfaces that usually carry the shielding cap are also not significantly increased of the shadow angle.
According to the invention, at least one counterelectrode to be connected to the cathode and to the deflecting electrode is arranged in the vicinity of the cathode so that when the counterelectrode is at fluorescent screen potential and the deflection electrode voltage is 0 volts, a shadow angle greater than 100 For example, these counter-electrodes, which are to be connected to a strong positive potential, usually to the fluorescent screen potential, consist of metal sheets that lie in a plane through the cathode axis approximately perpendicular to the plane through the cathode axis and the deflection electrode given is.
The counter-electrodes can, however, also lie in planes which do not run through the cathode axis, but rather run at an angle to the plane through the deflection electrode and cathode axis. The sheet metal counter electrodes can also be curved in the cross-sectional plane perpendicular to the cathode axis.
The invention will be explained in more detail in the following examples: According to FIG. 1, counterelectrode sheets 1 are arranged in such a way that they run in a plane perpendicular to the plane passing through the cathode 2 and the deflection electrode 3. These counter-electrode sheets are given a high positive potential, preferably a fluorescent screen potential. The counter-electrodes reach close to the cathode 2, so that a strong field occurs between the cathode 2 and these counter-electrodes 1.
However, a grid which is at cathode potential or approximately at cathode potential can also be arranged between the cathode and the other electrodes in a known manner.
In addition, a strong and extended field is created between the deflection electrode 3 and the counter-electrodes 1, since. the deflection electrode 3 has a strongly negative potential in relation to the luminescent screen 4. The cap 7 covers the cathode, the control electrode and the counter electrodes from the observer. With the help of this arrangement, significantly larger maximum shadow angles 6 are achieved, roughly in the range of 160 to 0 volts of deflection electrode voltage and luminous screen potential on the counter electrodes.
The then remaining light angle is shown hatched. With this arrangement, a considerable increase in sensitivity for the tuning indicator has been achieved. A particular advantage of this arrangement is that the deflection electrode does not need to be larger than in the usual systems, so that the electron flow from the cathode to the deflection electrode does not increase either.
: According to Fig.? are the counter electrodes 1 not in a plane perpendicular to the plane through the cathode? and control electrode 10 ge places, but inclined zii this plane. Since the deflection field between the cathode and counter electrode is even more effective. With such an arrangement, maximum shadow angles 7 of about 180 at 0'Volt deflection electrodes can be achieved on the counter electrodes, Lind, Leizcht- scliii-mpotentia.l.
This arrangement has. Particularly important for optical display devices for electrical voltages in which the beam generating system is arranged in the vicinity of the periphery of the tube. The shadow angle covers. then practically the entire fluorescent screen when the deflection electrode is connected to cathode potential.
In optical display devices of the type described above - with very large maximum shadow angles - the edges of the luminous sectors are not straightforward as a result of the extensive deflection fields. Rectilinear delimitation of the sectors is desirable, however, in order to enable precise reading, especially if one wants to attach a scale or a similar marking on the Leuelitehirm.
In order to obtain a straight delimitation of the luminous sectors, the pin-shaped deflection electrode 10 is bent in such a way that the linear delimitation of the luminous areas is created. The shape of the necessary bend is expediently determined experimentally, since it depends on the shape of the other electrodes, the distances between the various electrodes and the shape of the luminescent screen.
It is important to ensure that the surface of the deflection electrode remains as small as possible in order to keep the control current as small as possible when the deflection potential is positive. Fig. 3 shows a section in the direction of 8-9 of the figure. The deflection strut 10 is - curved. It has an oval, prismatic or elliptical cross-section. The purpose of this is to reduce the control electrode current zii.
