Electrical time switches in electrical systems, in particular in direction display systems for vehicles. The invention relates. on an elec tric time switch in electrical systems, especially in Fahrtriclitungsanzeigeanlagen of vehicles, with a manual switching element for switching on at least one device connected to the switch, which is automatically switched off again after a certain switch-on time by a Binieta provided with a heating coil, ll - strip.
In a known switching device of this type for travel direction indicators, the indicators are switched on directly by a manual switching element against a restoring force. The Iland switching element falls into the. Switch-on positions in notches, from which. it is dug out by an electrically heated bimetal strip after a certain heating-up time.
The development of this strip is switched on when the switch-on position is reached and switched off again when the switching element returns to the neutral position.
A disadvantage of this switching device is, among other things, that it is not possible with her to switch from the display for one direction to the display for the other direction at any time, but that this is only possible when the Bimetal strip has released the hand holding member from its detent.
This disadvantage is avoided according to the invention in that when the manual switching element is set in a switched-on position, the binietal strip is mechanically moved into a working position.
is, in which the Ge advises and at the same time the heating winding is switched on by the IIand switching element in the switched-on position, so that the strip bends. and thereby at least those parts of the manual switching element which have mechanically guided the bimetallic strip into the switched-on position and closed the circuit of the heating coil to automatically return to the starting position.
In the accompanying drawing, an exemplary embodiment is shown in schematic form.
On a sitting on a base plate 10 the insulating block 11 are the end of a bimetallic strip 1 ?, and a parallel to it attached to leaf spring 13 .. At its free end, the bimetallic strip carries a contact 14, which with a counter contact 15 on the leaf spring cooperates. The leaf spring is. endeavors to support itself with its free end against an adjustable stop 16 AB.
The metal strip has an integral winding 17, one end of which is pale and the other is connected to a contact track 18 of a switch disk 19 made of insulating material. The contact track surrounds the Noeken disk over approximately three quarters of its circumference and its ends still extend into two notches 20 of the cam. Between tween the two notches 20 is located in the isolated part. the cam disc has a third notch 21 which is lower than the two notches 20 adjacent by the switching path a of the strip 12.
A metal head 22 attached to the bimetallic strip in an insulated manner can engage in the notches. The cam disk, which is rotatably seated on a bolt 23, is. firmly connected to a handle 24. A spring 25 endeavors to keep the handle and thus also the cam disk in the illustrated position or to return it to this position, in which the metal head 22 can engage in the detent 21 on the isolated part of the cam disk 19, provided the bimetallic strip not heated up, but cooled down.
In this position the contacts 14 and 15 are separated, while they are closed when the metal head 22 engages one of the shallower adjacent detents 20. On the bolt 23 a formed as a Schleppschal switchover member 26 made of insulating material is also pivotably arranged. This switching member carries a contact 27 with the. Contact 14 of the bimetal strip is conductively connected via a strand 40. In addition, the switching element carries driver pins 28 which lie in the pivoting path of the handle 24.
On the base plate 10 two contacts 29 and 30 are arranged so that each Weil one of them can come into contact with the contact 27 when the switching member 26 is pivoted by the handle 24 to the right or left. The contacts 29 and 30 are connected to the actuating coils of indicators 31, 32. 33 with a current collector is referred to, one pole of which is connected to ground and the other pole with the leaf spring 13 and the metal head 22.
The timer works in the following way: In the neutral position shown in the drawing, the handle 24 with the cam disk 19 is in the central position. In this position, the contacts 14, 15 are separated, and the heating coil 17 of the Bi metal strip is de-energized. If the strip has cooled down, it is in the rest position shown, in which the contact head 22 engages in the catch 21.
For example, to operate the right winker 31 connected to the contact 30, the handle 24 is swiveled to the right until the contact head 22 falls into the right notch 20: During this movement, the heating coil 17 is on the one hand due to the touching of the Contact head 22 with your metal band 18 switched on. On the other hand, the bimetallic strip 12 is bent so far by the cam that its contact 14 touches the contact 15 on the leaf spring 13 and the leaf spring 13 lifts slightly from the stop 16; Furthermore, the switching element 26 is pivoted to the right by the handle via the driver pin 28.
if it is not. already in this position is det, so that the contact 27 lies on the contact 30, on which the right winker is connected. A current now flows from the battery 33 via the leaf spring 13 and the contact pair 15, 14, the strand 40 and the contact pair 27, 30 to the indicator 31 and via ground back to the battery.
In addition, a current goes through the contact head 22, the metal strip 18 and the heating coil 17, whereby the bimetal strip is heated and shortly after the start of its heating, in addition to its deflection by the cam disk 19 in the direction of the arrow bends out. In doing so, it lifts the leaf spring 13 even more from the stop 16, the contact head 22 being lifted out of the catch 20 at the same time. The thereby unlatched cam 19 is pulled back by the spring 25 in the central position and thus the circuit of the heating coil is interrupted.
The bimetal strip cools down as a result and returns to its rest position. When it falls, the leaf spring 13 follows him until it reaches the stop 16 and then can no longer follow. During the following further movement of the bimetal strip, the contacts 14, 15 separate so that the circuit of the winker 31 is interrupted.
The bimetallic strip and its heating coil are dimensioned in such a way that the strip reaches its end position which disengages the cams after about 2 seconds, but needs about 10 seconds to bend back into its rest position after the heating current has been switched off. The cam disk is therefore released after just 2 seconds and can return to the central position. However, the circuit of the beeper remains switched on until the circuit is interrupted by the bimetal strip.
However, the driver can switch from one to the other indicator without interrupting the connection between the indicator to be switched and the battery, because this connection is controlled by the bimetallic strip. Furthermore, if necessary, he can also keep the indicators in the display position for a longer period of time if he holds the handle of the cam disc firmly in the pivoted position. The heating coil of the bimetal strip can not be overloaded because it is switched off again and again by the movement of the strip when it has reached its operating temperature.
The main advantages of the described time switch are that, firstly, the bimetal strip is mechanically brought into the working position and thus the circuit of the monitored device is closed immediately, and that the duty cycle of the heating winding is also dependent on the movement path of the bimetal strip, whereby a Overloading of the winding is excluded, and finally the drag switch operated by the handle can be moved independently of the movement of the bimetallic strip, which gives the driver completely free handling of the entire switching device.
