Device for the automatic regulation of the frequency of a unrest-spiral spring system. The% -orliegeride invention relates to a device for automatically regulating the frequency of a unrest-spiral-spring system. For timing devices such as pocket and wall clocks.
it is common practice to regulate the system before it is inserted into the timing device so that its natural frequency is approximately that which is required for precise crang, the precise final regulation being done, for example, by the usual regulator. Such pre-regulation is most expediently carried out by regulating the length of the spiral spring.
To this. Purpose have been designed various methods and devices for adapting the natural frequency of a system spiral spring unrest to a normal frequency and to display the difference, the spiral spring is adjusted by hand until the natural frequency is approximately correct. Such adaptation processes require experienced operators and also require a considerable amount of time. The present invention is directed to simplifying the regulation of such a vibration system.
According to the present invention, a device for automatically regulating the frequency of a unrest-spiral spring system has a motor arrangement for changing the effective length of the spiral spring and thereby the equilibrium of the system, and means for controlling the motor arrangement dependent on. the difference between the natural frequency and a normal frequency, such that the motor arrangement changes the effective length of the spiral spring in terms of decreasing frequency difference, at a speed that depends on the frequency difference.
The term electrically controlled motor assembly is intended to include any means by which mechanical power is generated in accordance with an electrical signal. In addition to an ordinary electric motor, the design therefore includes a relay or an electrically controlled compressed air motor.
In the accompanying drawings, three different embodiments of the subject of the invention are shown.
According to Fig. 1, the balance and spiral spring system to be regulated is of conventional design and comprises a wheel 10 mounted on an axle 11 and a spiral spring 12 mounted on the axle. The axle 11 is provided with conventional conical pins 13, 14 which engage in conventional (not shown) bearings and thereby define the unrest and spring for regulation. The end of the spring that is not fastened to the axis is held firmly by the spring regulating device 15, which has two rollers between which the spring is detected (not shown), the position of which is controlled by the spring regulating motor 16.
A normal frequency generator 17 generates a substantially sinusoidal voltage with a period exactly equal to that of a properly regulated Un rest (in the example shown 2 IIz). The output from the standard frequency generator is fed to an input of a ring bridge modulator 19 via an amplifier 18. An alternator 20 gives two output voltages with. a frequency of 400 Hz, both with constant amplitude and in a wattless phase relationship to one another.
An output of the generator 20 is, as indicated at 21, fed to the second input of the modulator 19, which thus. produces an output signal of 400 Hz that is modulated at 2 Hz. This signal is fed via an amplifier 22 to a drive coil 23 which is located near the unrest 1.0. The second output of the generator 20 is fed to a further drive coil 24. The coils 23 and 24 are so designed with respect to the balance 10. and arranged that they together with. form a two-phase induction motor on the wheel of unrest. It works. it shows that an oscillating torque is transmitted to the unrest 10 with a frequency of r 2 Hz.
A second power generator 25 results. two output voltages with a frequency different from that of the generator 20. (usually 500 Hz), which both voltages have constant amplitude and are in wattless phase relationship to one another. A first output of the generator 25 is fed to a recording coil 27 in the vicinity of the unrest 10 via an amplifier 26.
A second pick-up coil 28 is also located in the vicinity of the balance 10. The coils 27 and 28 are arranged in a similar position with respect to the balance 10 and are designed similarly to the coils 23 and 24, so that a signal of 500 Hz in the coil 28 it is generated, which is essentially in wattless phase relation to the input of the coil 27 and is modulated according to the - '# Vinkelgesehwin- speed of the wheel 10. The take-up coils' 217 and 28 and the unrest 10 form a Taehometriselren signal generator of known type.
The output signal of the weighing 28 is fed via an amplifier 29 to an input of a demodulator 30 (expediently from Ring-Brücke-BaLrart), while the second output from the generator 25 via an amplifier 31 to the second input of the demodulator 30 is transmitted. The amplifier 31 generates such a phase shift that the two 500 Hz inputs to the demodulator 30 are out of phase (or opposite phase) to each other, i.e. it compensates for the slight deviation of the voltage of the coil 28 from the wattless phase relationship the first exit from the producer 25.
The output from demodulator 30 is made. thus from a 2 Hz oscillate the voltage that is in phase with. is the angular velocity of the unrest. This voltage is transmitted to an input of a phase comparator 34 via an amplifier 32 and a relay contact 33. The output voltage from the normal frequency generator 17 is transmitted to the second input of the comparator 34 via a phase shifter circuit 35 and amplifier 36.
The approximately fixed phase shift generated by the circle 35 is approximately 90, as explained below, but can be adjusted over a small range, the setting being made by the motor 37.
The phase comparator 34 has a Rin-Bridge Denrodnlator, and the output of this circuit consists of a DC voltage of one or the other preference, depending on whether the output from the amplifier 32 has a component that is in phase or antiphase is the output from amplifier 36, and which is zero when the two outputs are phase shifted by.
The output from the comparator 3-1 is transmitted via the amplifier 38 and contact 39 of the relay 40 to the DC motor 1.6, which, as mentioned earlier, rotates the rollers, between which the end of the spiral spring is detected and thus the natural frequency of the unrest system and spiral spring changed. The phase of the signal fed from the amplifier 32 to the phase comparator 34 depends on the phase of the angular velocity of the unrest.
The latter depends on the difference between the natural frequency of the unrest and the frequency of the driving torque. The phase shifter 35 is. now set so that the pliases at the signal inputs on the comparator 34 are offset by 90 when the said frequency difference is zero.
Consequently. the motor 16 regulates the effective length of the spiral leather so that the natural frequency of the unrest-spiral spring system is equal to that of the normal frequency generator 1.7 and the two inputs to comparator 3.1 have a phase difference of 90, i.e. the system is automatic properly regulated. The required length of the spiral spring is marked and the system removed.
It is of course undesirable that the amplitude of the oscillation of the unrest becomes too large, which is why the visual oscillation amplitude is controlled by taking part of the output from amplifier 32 and after demodulation in circuit 41 as amplification. kungsgi @ ad regulating voltage to the Ver stronger 22 is supplied.
If so. If the oscillation amplitude of the unrest strives to increase, the degree of amplification of the amplifier 22 is reduced, as a result of which the magnitude of the drive torque transmitted to the wheel 10 is reduced.
When a system unrest-spiral spring is able to regulate, the switching contacts 42 are closed, where it is excited by the relay 40 through the battery 43, so that the relay contacts 33, 39 are in the IiaTe shown in the drawing .
When the unrest is removed, the contacts 42 are opened, the relay 40 is de-energized, the output from the amplifier 18 is fed to an input of the comparator 34 instead of the input from the amplifier 32, and the output from the amplifier 38 becomes the amplifier Motor 37 instead of motor <B> 16 </B> leads to. The motor 37 regulates the phase shifter 37 in such a way that the output from the amplifier 38 becomes zero, that is to say it compensates for any deviation in the phase shift via the amplifiers 18 and 38 or in the phase shifter circuit 35.
This automatic regulation after each work process prevents the accumulation of any small deviation errors.
Fig.2 shows. schematically a second embodiment of the invention. Appropriate means 51 are provided to keep the unrest and spiral spring vibrating at their natural frequency and also to call forward electrical signals at this natural frequency. These signals are fed to a synchronous motor 53 via a suitable frequency multiplier and amplifier 52 Ver. A normal frequency source 54 generates alternating current signals which have a frequency equal to that at the output of the amplifier 52 if the unrest is correctly adjusted. The output of the source 54 is transmitted to a synchronous motor 55.
The motors 53, 55 drive the input shafts of a differential gearbox 56, the output shaft 58 of which rotates at a speed which is proportional to the difference between the speeds of the motors 53 and 55. The output shaft 58 drives. Means shown at 57 for regulating the length of the spiral spring in such a direction that the length of the spiral spring (and thus the period of oscillation of the system) is changed so that the difference between the speeds of the motors 53 and 55 is reduced. This achieves a state in which the speeds of the motors are the same and thus the eigenfrequency of the oscillation of the unrest system is the desired frequency.
With tel for regulating the length of the coil spring can expediently a pair of rollers aufwei sen, between which the spring is detected, as has been described with respect to the embodiment of FIG. The motors 53 and 55 and the differential gear 56 can be replaced by a pair of coaxial rotating field elements in a known manner, of which one can rotate freely with respect to the other, the relative rotation being used to the means 57 to actuate.
3 schematically shows a third embodiment of the invention. Appropriate means 61 are available to keep the unrest oscillating at its natural frequency and also to provide electrical signals with this natural frequency. These signals are transmitted via a suitable frequency multiplier 62 in which their frequency is multiplied by an integer n,
both an amplifier 63 and then a phase winding 64 of a two-phase induction motor 65 and a bridged T-network 66 and an amplifier 67 of the second phase winding 68 of the motor 65 is supplied. The sizes of the switching elements 69, 70, 71, 72 of the bridge T-network are selected so that the network is matched to n times the desired frequency of the unrest.
When the frequency of the input to the network is changed, the amplitude and phase of the output changes, with the amplitude being zero at the frequency to which the network is tuned and the output having a component which is present at frequencies above that which the network is tuned, leads the input by 90 and lags the input by 90 at frequencies below that to which the network is tuned. Thus, the rotor 73 of the motor 65 will rotate in one direction or the other, depending on whether the natural frequency of the unrest-spiral spring system is above or below the correct frequency.
The rotation of the rotor is therefore used in a manner which is exactly the same as that of the shaft 58 in the embodiment of FIG. 2, in order to correct the length of the coil spring by means of a suitable device 74, which can also be of the same type as it has been explained in relation to the previous embodiment.
Instead of transmitting the outputs from the amplifiers 63 and 67 directly to the motor 65, a phase-sensitive demodulator can be provided which generates a DC voltage of a magnitude and sign corresponding to the phase difference between the amplifier outputs. This DC voltage can then be used. who to control the operation of the motor for adjusting the length of the coil spring.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the frequency multiplier 62 can optionally be omitted, so that the number n is then equal to one.
