Device for igniting mutators. Devices for igniting mutators are known which have an exciter anode connected to a resistance igniter and fed with direct current and a choke coil located in the ignition exciter circuit, and which are used to ignite voltage, changes in length at the choke.
Ignition devices of other types usually use two DC voltage sources, one of which supplies the excitation current with a lower voltage and the other with a higher voltage supplies the ignition pulse. These latter ignition devices are not only complicated, but they also have the disadvantage that the current in the choke coil at the ignition moment is still almost zero and only increases gradually, which is unfavorable for the onset of excitation.
The invention relates to a device for igniting mutators, which have a verbun with a resistance igniter exciter anode and in wel chen the ignition exciter circuit is fed with direct current, with a choke coil in the ignition exciter circuit in friction with the direct current source and a switching means for initiating the ignition is provided, in which, according to the invention, the switching means is connected between the direct current conductors,
that it closes and opens a direct current shunt circuit to the ignition excitation circuit depending on the voltage at the terminals (los ignition excitation circuit, excitation circuit closes and opens, with the ignition impulse being triggered and excitation being initiated when the life circuit is opened.
In this way, it is achieved that ignition and excitation are carried out with the same power source and that an ignition pulse that ensures ignition is available at the moment of ignition.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the invention is shown schematically in Fig. 1, Fig. 2 shows the course of some voltages and currents over time.
With 1 the vessel of a mutator is marked, which is equipped in the usual way with anode, mercury cathode, control grid, resistance igniter 2 and exciter anode 3. Resistance igniter and exciter anode are usefully combined to form one structural part. The combined ignition-exciter anode is fed with direct current which is supplied by the valves 4 in Graetz or double-way circuit, which are fed from the power source 7 via the transformer 5 and switch 6.
In the ignition excitation circuit, the throttle coil B is in series with the valves 4. A relay 9 is designated which responds to the voltage ug at the terminals of the ignition excitation circuit and whose working contacts Ki close a DC shunt circuit to the ignition excitation circuit ,
which rather bridges the detonator. The work coil of the relay 9 is connected upstream of the resistor Ri between the direct current head of the ignition excitation circuit. The relay 9 also has auxiliary contacts K2, through which a resistor R2 of the working coil of the relay is connected in parallel.
The effect of the device is as follows. When the device is idle, the relay contacts K1, K2 are open. After closing the switch 6, direct current flows from the valves 4 on the one hand through the throttle 8 via the resistance igniter 2 and on the other hand through the resistor R1 and. the working coil of relay 9 in series with it.
There is practically no-load voltage at the secondary terminals of the transformer 5 and at the terminals of the ignition exciter circuit. The resistor R1 and the work coil of the relay 9 are chosen so that the relay comes to respond immediately after closing the switch 6. When contacts K1 of the relay are closed, a shunt circuit to the ignition exciter circuit is established, in which a short-circuit current can develop via the choke 8.
At the same time as K1, the contacts K2 of the relay 9 also close, whereby the resistor R2 of the working coil of the relay 9 is connected in parallel. The short-circuit current across the choke is expediently limited by selecting the short-circuit voltage of the transformer to a value that is slightly above the nominal current of the device. The currents and voltages in the ignition exciter circuit result from the diagram in FIG. 2.
The solid line shows the temporal course of the current, the dash-dotted line shows the voltage during the ignition process, the dashed line shows the voltage on the coil of the relay 9. The short-circuit current that starts after the closing of the contacts K1 at time a magnetizes the choke 8; it reaches its final value at the time.
With the increase in the short-circuit current, the voltage u6 in the ignition excitation circuit drops due to the steep current-voltage characteristic of the direct current source. The, voltage on: the coil of the relay 9 is reduced due to the parallel resistance of R2 so far that it drops at time point y and the contacts K1, K2 opens.
The shunt circuit is interrupted and an ignition pulse is generated, whereupon the cathode spot is ignited, and the current in the choke 8 drops to the operating value and thus the voltage in the ignition exciter circuit drops to The cathode spot has arisen, the excitation arc sets in and the excitation current flows via the excitation electrode 3 to the cathode of the mutator 1.
After ignition, the contacts K1, K2 of the relay 9 remain open. However, if the excitation current is interrupted for any reason, the voltage in the ignition excitation circuit immediately rises again to the idle value and conducts. a new ignition process.
The time between the closing and opening of the shunt circuit by the relay 9 is determined from the size of the DC voltage, the inductance of the ignition exciter circuit, the resistors R1, R2 and finally. The mechanical and electrical parameters of the relay.
By choosing the resistance values R1, R2 it can be achieved that the relay 9 only drops out when the short-circuit current in the ignition exciter circuit has reached its end value, so that reliable ignition is guaranteed.
The direct current source used in the exemplary embodiment with a steeply falling current / voltage characteristic can be replaced by a direct current source whose current / voltage characteristic does not drop steeply, or one which even rises. When choosing the direct current source, it is essential that the condition that there is a difference between the no-load and operating voltage at the terminals of the ignition excitation circuit is essential.
