Detachable closure & for vacuum rooms, especially for rooms with tolerated internal dimensions. In the case of vacuum systems, it has hitherto been customary to use a cover to close the vacuum spaces, which was screwed over the opening of the housing with an endless rubber ring in between. By tightening the fastening screws to a greater or lesser extent and thereby compressing the 1) heating ring, the cover, which is usually also a bearing shield or the like, was brought into its correct position.
However, that had two serious drawbacks. themselves. Once, when it was first used, the seal had to be compressed so much that it was unusable for repeated use in order to bring the lid into the correct position. Secondly, the attachment of the cover itself was a difficult and time-consuming job, as the cover had to be brought into the correct position by tightening the fastening screws accordingly and, if the screws were tightened unevenly, it tilted and could cause the system to malfunction.
The present invention eliminates the disadvantages mentioned; , concerns them. A detachable seal for vacuum tubes, especially for rooms with tolerated internal dimensions, which is characterized by the fact that a cover rests directly on a seat on the room wall and that a sealing ring covering the joint between the cover and the wall is pressed on from the outside.
The accompanying drawing relates to an exemplary embodiment of the subject invention. An interior space present in a housing 1 is. Completed by a cover 2 in such a way that the depth t of the interior space does not exceed a certain amount by prescribed tolerances. exceeds or falls below. The cover 2 rests directly on a shoulder 1a of the housing 1 in such a way that the parting line 3 between the cover and the housing is on the outside perpendicular to the cover surface and the cover is centered on its edge. A sealing ring 4 covers the parting line 3 rings around the lid. The sealing ring 4, which can be made of rubber, is inserted into a groove which extends at the side of the parting line 3 and is present in part in the cover and in part in the housing.
With the aid of a pressure ring 5, which covers the seal, the seal is pressed against its support perpendicular to the cover half and thereby effects a vacuum-sealed closure of the interior.
The pressure ring itself is connected to the housing 1 by means of screws 6 in such a way that the screws are arranged outside the cover and the seal, which therefore do not have any through-holes for the bolts. The pressure ring 5 is provided with a protruding part 5a resting on the seal 4 for engaging in the groove housing the seal when the screws of the pressure ring are tightened when the elasticity of the seal decreases.
According to a variant not shown, the seal 4 could rest sunk in a groove on the outside of the cover and the housing, which would lie at least on the bearing surface of the seal on both sides of the parting line 3 in a common plane.
There are no special fastening means for the lid. This is only pressed against the shoulder la of the housing by the pressed-on seal.
From the above it can be seen that in the illustrated formation of the closure from the cover 2 is always in its correct term, which is given by the position of the shoulder la, regardless of how strongly the seal 4 is pressed. The latter therefore only has to be subjected to such a compression as is necessary for the vacuum-tight seal. As a result, the sealing material can be spared and can therefore also be used when the cover is repeatedly removed and put on.
According to another, not shown design of the termination, the cover could rest on the end face of the housing designed as a seat. The peripheral surface of the cover would then preferably be flush with the outer jacket surface of the housing and a sealing ring would be arranged on the outside in front of the parting line extending in one plane. The sealing ring could be pressed in the radial direction against the housing and the edge of the cover by means of a bandage in order to close the parting line.
The sealing ring could, however, also be pressed in the axial direction against a flange of the housing in such a way that it deforms elastically in the radial direction as a result of the squeezing and thereby lies in front of the parting line and creates the desired seal.
