Gant vibro-masseur chauffant.
chauffage.
Heated vibro-massager glove.
Numerous types of vibro-massager devices are already known intended to produce vibrations either directly on the patient's skin, or indirectly, by application to the dorsal face of the hand of the person massaging the patient. Such devices have made it possible to obtain appreciable therapeutic results, the beneficial action of vibration on human tissues having been recognized by the medical profession for a very long time.
However, these devices have serious drawbacks which make their application difficult and sometimes even dangerous.
Indeed, the devices coming into direct contact with the skin have generally proved too hard to use and we have not been able to obtain all the expected results, these devices producing, in some cases, real trauma.
With the devices giving rise to indirect vibrations by applying the vibrator to the back of the masseur's hand, the effect obtained is much softer. But the devices built so far are bulky, heavy and difficult to handle.
The object of the present invention is a vibro-massage device which overcomes these drawbacks and which furthermore has the advantage of allowing the application of heat at the same time as vibrations.
The invention is characterized in that the glove supports, on the part corresponding to the back of the hand, a vibration generating device and on the part corresponding to at least the palm of the hand, an electric heating element.
It can be seen that, the glove being slipped on the hand of the masseur, the latter, by applying his hand to the parts to be massaged, simultaneously transmits vibrations and heat to the latter, these two factors combined giving remarkably effective results. .
The entire device is very light and easy to handle.
The glove can be with or without fingers, or also replaced by a simple sleeve slipping on the hand. It may be, for example, of flexible, stiff or semi-flexible fabric, of rubber or of a similar plastic material.
As a vibration generating device, an electromagnetic vibrator or a rotary unbalance vibrator can be used.
In the latter case, the drive motor of the vibrator can be arranged jointly with the latter on the support or else disposed at a distance, a flexible ensuring the transmission of the rotational movement to the vibrator.
The electric heating element may be constituted by a resistance contained in an insulating sheath or by a plate or the like constituting an electrode intended to cooperate with another electrode placed on the patient's body, in order to apply to the parts to be treated. a high frequency current, galvanic, diathermic, or any other similar electric current.
The vibration generating device is advantageously provided with members making it possible to adjust the amplitude or the frequency of the vibrations which it produces. Thus, in the case of an unbalance vibrator, means may be provided for adjusting the eccentricity of said unbalance or means for adjusting the speed of rotation of the drive motor.
Likewise, means, for example a rheostat, can be provided to adjust the intensity of the current flowing through the heating element.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an overview of an embodiment, with a possible variant.
Fig. 2 is a schematic longitudinal section, on a larger scale, of this device.
Fig. 3 is an electrical circuit diagram of the device.
As shown, the canvas glove 1 takes the shape of a mitten on the back of which is; fixed, by means of two plates 2 joined together by rivets and enclosing the fabric, an unbalance vibrator device comprising an electric motor 3 on the shaft 4 of which is wedged an eccentric weight 5, the assembly being covered by a removable cover 6.
Under the palm of the glove 1 is maintained, by a piece of fabric 7 attached to the inside of the glove, an electrical resistance 8 of known type.
Motor 3 and resistor 8 are supplied with electric current by wires contained in a common cord 9. On the motor power supply circuit (fig. 3) is interposed a switch 10, and on the power supply circuit of the motor. resistor 8, an adjustable rheostat 11. All of these control members are grouped together in a box 12, switch 10 being operated using a lever 13 and rheostat 11 using a button 14.
Instead of being placed on the plates 2, the motor 3 could be independent of the glove 1, as is shown in phantom lines at 3a, in FIG. 1, the transmission between the motor and the axis of the eccentric 5 then being ensured by a flexible 15 of known type.
To use the glove 1, the masseur turns on the motor 3 (3a) and the heating resistance 8, after which he applies his hand to the part to be treated, possibly moving this hand to treat this part in full.
Resistor 8, as well as its control rheostat 11, which can advantageously be supplemented by a switch, are preferably dimensioned to make it possible to obtain a temperature of the order of 30 to 60 C. These limits are however indicated only for example, the devices can be designed to obtain temperatures lower than 300 or higher than 600.
Instead of being limited to the palm of the hand, the resistance 8 can also have extensions extending on the internal face of the part of the glove 1 corresponding to the fingers.
A rheostat can be interposed on the power supply circuit of the motor 3 if necessary to vary its speed of rotation and, consequently, the frequency of the vibrations generated by the rotation of the weight 5. On the other hand, the latter can be mounted on the shaft 4, in a manner known per se, so that its eccentricity is variable, which makes it possible to vary the amplitude of said vibrations.
Finally, an automatic switch operating periodically such as, for example, a rotary switch, can be interposed on the supply circuit of the motor 3 and of the resistor 8, in order to allow
rhythm device vibrations and / or sound
heater.
