<I>Beispiel:</I> 80 Gewichtsteile Milchsäurecasein, Fein heit 8100 Maschen/cm=, 20 Gewichtsteile Na- triummetasilikat, Feinheit 1600 6 Gewichtsteile Traganth, Feinheit 6400 Ma schen/cm2 werden in einer Mischvorrichtung, z.
Means for improving hydraulic binders used in particular for fastening wall and floor panels. The hydraulic binders used as adhesives for wall and floor panels, such as cement and lime, have the disadvantage, among other things, that they do not adhere well enough to the substrate and in particular to the back of the panels, which often affects the durability of the panel coverings becomes.
There has been no lack of attempts to remedy this drawback, and it has already been proposed to add casein and / or casein glue to the hydraulic binders for this purpose. Another suggestion was to use trisodium phosphate together with calcium as an admixture to hydraulic adhesives of this type.
However, none of these proposals were entirely satisfactory, since the casein-containing binders also showed certain inadequacies when they were used. For example, it was necessary to use warm water to prepare the work space when the temperature was low, or to wait several hours when using cold water until the mixture was ready for use.
This, in turn, had the disadvantage that segregation or changes in consistency could occur during the long waiting time, so that one was forced to constantly stir the adhesive once it had been applied in order to ensure its homogeneity. It also became apparent, especially when applied thickly the adhesive layer, like a tendency to slip off the wall panels, which in turn forced you to level the area to be covered beforehand so that the adhesive layer was never too thick, thereby reducing the tendency to slip.
Another drawback is that if the mixture is not prepared carefully, the compound on the back of the plate may dry too quickly, so-called burning, which means that once the plates have been moved, they are fixed too quickly so that no subsequent correction is possible is.
The present invention now aims to provide an additive to hy draulic binders, the latter should be particularly suitable for the attachment of wall and floor panels.
Extensive tests have shown that, as already stated above, the addition of casein and casein-containing substances is not sufficient and that the disadvantages mentioned cannot be eliminated even in spite of the addition of phosphoric acid salts.
It has now been found, surprisingly, that the addition of alkali metal silicates in which the ratio Si0. : 11e0 (Me = alkali metal) is not greater than 1: 1, exert an extremely beneficial effect on the properties of casein-containing adhesives based on hydraulic binders. The metasilicates (SiOL: MeO = 1: 1) of sodium or potassium, z.
B. metasilicates with 5 to 10 moles of water of crystallization. A further improvement can, as has been found, because it can also be achieved by adding small amounts of colloid-soluble vege- table substances of the type of plant slime, in particular tragacanth.
The present patent is therefore a means for improving the properties of hydraulic binders, which are to be used in particular for fastening wall and floor panels, which is characterized by a content of casein and alkali silicates, in which the ratio Si0: Me0 is not greater than 1: 1.
To further improve the plasticity, it can also contain a colloid-soluble substance of the type of plant mucilage, in particular tragacanth.
The casein used is preferably lactic acid casein. Sodium or potassium metasilicate is advantageously used as the silicate.
A preferred mixing ratio for the additive according to the invention is in the range of the following limits.
EMI0002.0022
Casein <SEP> (e.g. <SEP> e.g. <SEP> lactic acid casein) <SEP> 50-90 <SEP> parts by weight
<tb> Silicates <SEP> (e.g. <SEP> e.g. <SEP> Alkali metasilicates <SEP> 10-30 <SEP> "
<tb> Colloid-soluble <SEP> vegetable <SEP> substance <SEP> (e.g. <SEP> e.g.
<tb> tragacanth) <SEP> 2-20 <SEP> "The components are mixed together in the form of fine powders.
For use, such a mixture can be mixed with the hydraulic binder in a ratio of, for example, 2 parts by weight of the mixture to 100 parts by weight of binder, preferably cement, in particular Portland cement or cement-lime mixture (in a ratio of up to 2: 1). If water is then added until the desired consistency is reached, while stirring constantly, the adhesive is immediately ready for use.
Extensive tests carried out with the product according to the invention have shown that hydraulic binders to which the product has been added can be used immediately after mixing, provided that care has been taken not to add too much water. Should the latter be the case by mistake, the compound can be brought to the required consistency with ease by adding more dry mortar mixture (hydraulic binder -f- additive) and then used immediately.
A great advantage is that you can do without preheating the mixing water, even at low temperatures in the working area, without the need for a waiting time, as before, which means a great saving in unproductive working time.
If the consistency of the binding agent is kept plastic, it is not necessary to level (smooth) uneven work surfaces beforehand, as the binding agent then has extremely good adhesion and does not run even in thicker layers. Nevertheless, it is extraordinarily supple and does not attract too quickly, so that the paver is able to make any necessary minor corrections by simply moving the panels after moving. The addition of silicate influences the setting processes so favorably that the adhesive strength and waterproofness of the binding layer, as has been shown, assume an extraordinarily high degree.
Another particular advantage of the new additive is that the production of the mixture does not make any special demands on the skill and care of the practitioner, so that the product can be used by any average worker without failure. <I> Example: </I> 80 parts by weight of lactic acid casein, fineness 8100 meshes / cm =, 20 parts by weight sodium metasilicate, fineness 1600 6 parts by weight tragacanth, fineness 6400 meshes / cm2 are mixed in a mixing device, e.g. B. a ball mill, intimately mixed until the mass is homogeneous.
To produce a binding agent, 1 part by weight of this mixture can be mixed thoroughly with 50 parts by weight of Portland cement, after which, while stirring constantly, enough water is added so that it is initially evenly wetted, after which the water can be added until the desired level is reached ten consistency continues. The binder is now readily usable.
