Process for the representation of a basic ether. It is known that. bazieche ether from the general formula:
EMI0001.0004
wherein the remainders R or hydrocarbon residues. Can be hydrogen, can be produced by using an ester, preferably a halide of an amino alcohol., Z.
B. ss-chloro-ethyl-d-iäthylamine, can einwir ken on the alkali compound of an alcohol.
The halides of the amino alcohols can be prepared from them by the action of thionyl chloride or phosphorus halides. The yield is very often unsatisfactory and the halides are not very stable due to polymerization, which makes their use difficult and reduces the yields.
In addition, their use means a disadvantage compared to the simpler method according to the present invention.
It has been found that basic substituted ethers are obtained in good yield by substituting an alcoholate, preferably an alkali metal alkoxide, of an amino alcohol, which is substituted on nitrogen by hydrogen or (and) alkyl, aryl or aralkyl is, with a compound containing reactive halogen, reacts.
There is no formation of a quaternary ammonium salt or instead of an addition compound, as would be expected, but rather basic ethers are formed.
Examples of amino alcohols that are capable of this reaction are: ß-dimethylaminoethanol, methylpropylaminoethanol, ß-diethylaminoethanol, cyelohexylaminoethanol, piperidinoethanol, N-Ogäthylanilin, Aminoäthano @ l ., also dioxyamines, such as dioxydiethylamine,
Dioxydiethyl aniline. A large proportion of these amino alcohols are readily available products; so you get z. B. diethylamino ethanol in good yield by addition of ethylene oxide au diethylamine.
The representation of the sodium alcohol, ho'lats. z. B. diethylaminoethanol, is best done by boiling de with five times the amount of an inert solvent, preferably toluene, dilute amino alcohol with the calculated amount of sodium until the metal has disappeared, which takes about 3 hours. Instead of sodium, sodium amide can just as well be used.
The result is a clear, colorless solution of the Na alcohol which, when closed, can be kept for as long as desired and can be used directly for further conversion.
The possibility of converting aliphatic, aromatic and eyclise imide halides into the corresponding basic substituted imide ethers makes the process particularly interesting, all the more so than the second ethers

The Gemiszh will continue to boil for a while and the reaction will end after a few minutes.
The cold mixture is now diluted with ether, the ethereal solution is washed with water, the basic reaction product is extracted with dilute acetic acid and, after the aqueous solution has been separated off, separated off with sodium hydroxide solution and taken up in ether.
The ether is now distilled and the residue is distilled in vacuo. 1M 'an receives the 2-diethyla @ mino-ethoxy-4; 6-dimethyl-cli-noline as a colorless, thick 011 from Kpl, o 185 ". It is easily soluble in dilute acids.
