Hot gas motor with device for regulating the indicated power. The invention relates to a hot gas motor with a device for controlling the in dosed power.
Several solutions have already been proposed for the problem of regulating the output of a hot gas engine, which can essentially be divided into two groups. All solutions relate to the enlargement and reduction of the area of the indicator diagram of the motor. Regulations of the first type cause a change in this area by changing the gas filling in the cylinder, in other words a change in the pressure level of the circular process. It is then assumed that the compression ratio, i. H. the ratio between the highest and the lowest pressure in the cylinder remains constant.
From a structural point of view, this regulation can be carried out in such a way that gas is admitted into the cylinder or discharged from it at one or more points in the circular process.
Controls of the second type are made by maintaining the pressure level, but by changing the compression ratio. Such a control is structurally feasible, for example, by changing the phase between the movements of the piston and the displacer. Another possibility is that the content of the cylinder is associated with a separate room of variable size or with one or more rooms with different overall contents.
Although these embodiments can be implemented very well in practice, some difficulties are encountered in their implementation. The change in the phase angle between the movements of the piston and the displacer requires an adjustment device between its output and drive means. Regulation by adding special rooms only results in a gradual change in performance.
Uninterrupted change is possible if the volume of this additional space is continuously variable, but since the pressure in this space usually deviates from the atmospheric pressure, the adjustment force is relatively large.
The power regulation according to the invention is one of the regulations of the second type and, with a corresponding construction, has the advantage of simplicity over the already proposed or known regulations combined with a continuous process and a low adjustment force.
It has already been proposed to connect the engine cylinder space to an auxiliary space via a flow resistance to be regulated. Via this flow resistance there is a regular exchange of gas between the cylinder and the auxiliary chamber, namely a flow out of the cylinder if the pressure there is higher than the pressure in the auxiliary chamber, and a flow into the cylinder if the pressure there is lower is than in the auxiliary room.
The ratio between the highest and the lowest pressure in the cylinder is thereby reduced, so that the area of the diagram mentioned decreases. The size of this ratio is medium. the size of the flow resistance can be precisely regulated. It is thus possible in this way to adjust the engine power, for example by means of a Regula sector, to the required external load.
According to the present invention, in the connecting path between the motor cylinder and the auxiliary space, connected in parallel to the flow resistance to be regulated, two lockable channels that only allow gas to pass in the opposite direction are provided. If the closure of one of these channels is canceled, the gas can flow out of the engine cylinder, as long as the pressure in the latter is higher than the pressure in the auxiliary space, into this space. B. a ball check valve in this channel prevents the backflow of the gas.
If the closure of the other channel is removed, the gas can only flow in the opposite direction. It can be achieved that the gas content of the engine cylinder can be quickly reduced to a minimum or increased to a maximum, so that the indicated engine power can quickly switch between maximum and minimum. The regulation of the gas flow maintained between the engine cylinder and the auxiliary chamber via the flow resistance to be regulated may serve to slowly regulate the required power.
The closing means of the said channels, which only pass gas in mutually opposite directions, can also stand under the influence of the regulator; these closing means can, if necessary, be mechanically combined with the organ for regulating the flow resistance.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an embodiment shown in the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 shows the indicator diagram of a hot gas engine with a change that it can be obtained according to the invention.
In Fig. 2, a control device according to the invention is shown, with the help of which rapid control is possible.
In Fig. 1, 10 denotes the indicator diagram of a hot gas engine. The abscissa represents the piston travel Z, while on the ordinate de: pressure curve in the cylinder is carried up in the various positions of the piston. The diagram 10 represented by a solid line represents the indicator diagram with full engine power. The pressure P in the cylinder fluctuates between the maximum pressure 11 and the minimum pressure 12. The mean level of the pressure is 13; the indicated engine power is determined by the area enclosed by this diagram.
When the power regulation takes effect, d. H. if the contents of the working cylinder is brought into connection with an auxiliary chamber via a flow resistance to be controlled, the pressure in the cylinder decreases through this flow resistance, as long as it is higher than the pressure in this auxiliary chamber, while the Pressure in the cylinder, as long as it is lower than in the space mentioned, increases. The diagram thus has the curve 16 shown in dashed lines in the figure, in which the highest pressure drops to a value 14 and the lowest pressure rises to a value 15.
Assuming that there is a pressure in the appropriate auxiliary space which corresponds to the mean pressure level 1a, the mean pressure level in the working cylinder remains the same, even after this regulation is activated. The pressure in this auxiliary space inevitably comes close to the aforementioned mean pressure level 13 when the connection between the working cylinder and this auxiliary space has already existed for some time.
Not only a separate closed vessel can serve as auxiliary space, but any space in the engine can be used for this purpose. Hot gas engines are often equipped with a crankshaft case which is sealed gas-tight from the environment in order to be able to reduce leakage losses from the cylinder along the piston. The interior of this closed crankshaft box can in this case serve as an auxiliary space for the above-mentioned scheme without Be thinking. Care must be taken that the space used as an auxiliary space does not become too small in relation to the displacement.
In a small auxiliary space, a counterpressure soon arises that is so great that the control range is only small. In particular, at low speeds, at which a fair amount of time is available for the back and forth flow of the work medium due to the flow resistance, a small auxiliary space with respect to the displacement acts as an additional harmful space with a less large flow resistance. The closed auxiliary space for the control offers the advantage that the same gas always remains in circulation in the engine, so that this control method can also be used for engines with a special gas charge, e.g. B. hydrogen or helium, is applicable.
The device shown in Fig. 2 Regelvorrich has a housing 35 in which several channels are recessed. In the middle of the Ge housing there is a bore in which a plunger 39 can be moved up and down. This plunger is connected by means of a lever 32 to a power regulator, not shown, so that the position of this plunger is made dependent on the desired engine power.
In the Ge housing 35 there are three parallel scarf ended bores 36, 37 and 38, all of which cross the center hole for the plunger 39. The latter can open at most one hole at the same time. These bores also open into a common channel 27 which is in communication with a separate space 26. On the other hand, the three named bores are also connected by means of a common channel 29 which is in permanent open connection with the engine cylinder.
The lower bore 38 of these three bores contains a check valve 40 which opens only for a gas flow that moves from the space 26 through the channel 27, the bore 38 and the channel 29 to the engine cylinder. The bore 36 has a check valve 41 of the same type, which opens for a flow in the opposite direction. The bore 37 is locally narrowed and forms a flow resistance in the path between the engine cylinder and the space 26.
This flow resistance can be regulated, since an annular groove 43 is present in the plunger 39, which can be more or less connected to the bore 37 by the upward and downward movement of the plunger 39.
The plunger 39 is also formed in such a way that the bores 36 and 38 are completely closed during normal operation of the Mo sector. If the external load on the motor is suddenly greatly increased, this immediately results in a decrease in speed. The power regulator begins to work and pushes the plunger 39 down so far that a flow groove 42 in this piston opens the bore 38. As long as the gas pressure in the motor cylinder is lower than the gas pressure available in the vessel 26, a gas stream flows to the motor cylinder.
A backflow of the gas is excluded because this is prevented by the check valve 40 and the other two bores 36 and 37 are completed by the plunger. A relatively large amount of gas flows into the cylinder in a short period of time, so that the indicated power increases significantly. Conversely, the failure of the external load has the consequence that the regulator moves the groove 44 in front of the bore 36 by shifting the plunger 59 and in this way only releases a connection from the motor cylinder to the vessel 26 .
During normal operation of the Mo sector, when fast control is not possible, the bores 36 and 38 are completed. To regulate. the power to a lower value than can be achieved in the above-mentioned manner, the groove 43 is pushed in front of the bore 37.
