Riechstoffgemisch.

Fragrance mixture. Aliphatic alcohols, such as geraniol, citronellol, nerod, are known as fragrances that are reminiscent of the smell of rose, which are contained in essential oils such as cetronell oil, geranium oil, palmarosa oil and rose oil. Also phenyl - Ethyl alcohol has a rose smell.
A new group of compounds has now been found which is completely different in its structure from that of the compounds mentioned and which show a particularly beautiful and strong rose scent. These bodies conform to the general formula
EMI0001.0012
in which R is a hydrocarbon ring with 6 carbon atoms, R 'denotes an alkyl group with a maximum of 3 carbon atoms and R ″ denotes an alkyl group with a maximum of 4 carbon atoms.
These bodies can be obtained if inan benzaldehyde with a higher ketone, for example Dipropylke # ton, Dibutylket.on, Diisobutylketon, Methylpropylketon, Methylbutylketon, Ethylpropylketon, Äthylbutylketone, Propylbutylketon,
condensed and in the unsaturated ketone thus obtained, hydrogen attaches to the double bond respectively. in addition, the phenyl radical is also converted into the cyclohexyl radical.
The same body can be obtained if one responds to -Alkylzimtaldehyd. -Alkyldihydrozimtald'ehyd allows an alkylmagnesium halogen compound to act according to Grignard, produces the secondary alcohol therefrom in a known manner, which hydrogenates any double bond and / or the phenyl radical still present in the aliphatic radical and oxidizes the saturated secondary alcohols to the ketone.
The subject of the present patent is a mixture of fragrances which is characterized in that it contains at least one rose-scented compound of the general formula
EMI0002.0001
contains, in which P, a hydrocarbon ring with 6 carbon atoms, R 'denotes an alkyl group with at most 3 carbon atoms and R "denotes an alkyl group with at most 4 carbon atoms.

The separated oil gives 670 parts of 4-Ogy-5-ethyl-6-cyclohexyl-hexane on fractionation, the odor of which can be improved by treatment with lye.
It has a very pleasant and strong rose smell, similar to that of the above-mentioned ketone, but which is a little sweeter and fruity.
But you can also cover 48 parts of magnesium with 500 \ files ether and then react with 240 parts of 1-n-propyl bromide within two hours, after adding the mentioned bromide for another hour at a temperature of about. 45 stirs. Then 95 parts of α-methylhydrocinnamaldehyde are slowly added dropwise at 10-15 2, and the mixture is decomposed with ice with the addition of hydrochloric acid.
On working up, 280 parts of 4-oxy-5-methyl-6-phenyl-hexane are obtained by fractionation in vacuo at 135-140 under 5-6 mm pressure. 200 parts of these are stirred with 00 parts of glacial acetic acid and 200 parts of water and then added over the course of 2 hours at 10-15 300 parts of 50% strength sulfuric acid and 100 parts of sodium dichromate.
After prolonged stirring, the work is carried out in the usual way and 145 parts of 4-oxo-5-methyl-6-phenylhexane boiling at 118 to 120 under a pressure of 4-5 mm, a body which has a nice rose odor, is obtained shows.
The following procedure can also be used: 48 parts of magnesium are reacted with 1,240 parts of 1-n-propyl bromide in the presence of 500 parts of dry ether. Then 320 parts of ethyl cinnamaldehyde are added in the course of one hour at 10-15 320 parts. After the usual decomposition, in-in receives 275 parts of 4-oxy-5-aythy 1-6-phenyl-hexen-5 with a boiling point of 150-154 under 4-5 mm pressure.
After hydrogenation of the double bond and oxidation to the ketone, 4-oxo-5-ethyl-6-phenyl-hexane is obtained. The following can also be prepared in a completely analogous manner: 5-oxo-6-methyl-7-phenyl-heptane, b.p. 124-126 under 4-5 mm pressure, 5-oxo-6-ethyl-7-phenyl -heptane, bp. 127 to 130 under 4-5 mm pressure, 3-oxo-4-ethyl-5-phenylpentane, b.p. 112-115 under 4-5 mm pressure.
All these bodies and their homologues falling under the general formula mentioned above also show with. Interesting changes have a smell of roses, which is also retained when the phenyl radical is converted into the cyclohexyl radical.
