14 -schliesst und dadurch die Wicklung 18 kurzschliesst. Da- mit ist der des 'Strom- kreises dem Spannungswicklung 24 dess :Span- nungsmeglerss vexxingert und dieser regelt die Spannung rasch;
Electromagnetic voltage regulating device for power generators on vehicles. The invention relates to an electromagnetic voltage regulating device for power generators on vehicles, in particular on motor vehicles, whose. Voltage regulator: by a control regulator depending on the load current! des:, electricity generator is influenced.
There are facilities of this type known with which. up to a certain current strength on: essentially constant voltage and when this particular current strength is exceeded on rapidly falling voltage is regulated, and in which on: the voltage regulator, a current coil is provided, which is influenced by a control regulator depending on the current of the power generator becomes. Through contacts: the control regulator, the current coil of the voltage regulator is periodically connected in parallel to the current coil of the control regulator from the specific current intensity.
The control regulator clocks therefore carry a relatively large current; which can have an adverse effect on the service life of the contacts. He can also contact them. Occurring contact resistance have an effect on the voltage regulation: because the regulation characteristic changes with its change.
There is also known a control device for electrical systems on vehicles, which serves to limit the current to be supplied by the power generator and where a switch that automatically connects the power generator to the consumers has additional contacts that are actuated by the armature of this shaft and by the when the certain current intensity is reached,
periodically short-circuited resistor in series with the voltage coil of the voltage regulator or an additional voltage coil provided on the voltage regulator is switched on periodically.
According to the invention, a winding which is connected in series with the voltage winding of the voltage regulator and forms a resistance is provided on the control regulator, which is short-circuited by the control regulator contacts when the control regulator responds.
141i- a voltage regulating device, as it is assumed in the subject matter of the invention, a regulation can be achieved in which the voltage is initially kept at an approximately constant value, when a certain current strength is reached by influencing the voltage regulator by the control regulator, it quickly drops to a low The remaining value falls and then - again to a constant value, which is now a certain amount lower than the previous one, is regulated,
The amount of this amount depends on the dimensioning of the resistor in series with the voltage winding of the voltage regulator. The winding provided on the control regulator serves as such a resistor in series with this voltage winding.
This winding is periodically short-circuited as intended at the start of the control unit's activity. This fact is used at the same time for the control process on the control regulator itself. Since the winding is on the: control regulator be found, it acts as a result of its periodic short-circuiting for this; as a dither coil and enables such a high control frequency of the control regulator as is required for a fault-free and proper control process.
United mau in a manner known per se, the control regulator with a the Stromerzeu ger automatically with; the consumers. For example, also a charging switch connecting the collector battery to be charged by the power generator, the winding provided for the control regulator according to the invention can be switched in such a way that it supports the voltage coil of the charging switch. The voltage coil of the charging switch can therefore sneeze-to-earth to a lesser extent in accordance with the proportion performed by the winding of the control regulator.
This means that no additional, additional winding space is required on the charging switch for the said winding of the control regulator.
In contrast to the known arrangements, no additional winding space is required on the voltage regulator either. at. where a current coil is provided on the voltage regulator to achieve one of the mentioned similar types of regulation, or where an additional coil is applied to the voltage regulator instead of the resistor in series with the voltage coil of the voltage regulator.
The new design of the device is also advantageous in that the transition resistance on the control regulator contacts can no longer affect the control characteristics.
The control regulator contacts can be connected in series finitely with a heat switch acting depending on the heating of the power generator. This arrangement has the effect that the control regulator only becomes effective once the power generator has warmed up to a certain degree, thus making better use of the machine. In this respect, too, the arrangement of the mentioned M, winding on the control regulator is advantageous, since there is no special for the action of the heat switch on the control process. Relay is required, as the known arrangements with current coils make necessary.
In. the accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
The figure shows a voltage regulating device for a power generator as it is used in particular on motor vehicles; -becomes.
An alternator 1 in an electrical system of a motor vehicle has a shunt winding 2 which is connected in series with a resistor 3. A collector battery 4 and power consumers 5 can be supplied with power di, # rcli the Lielitniasch-ine 1. On: the magnet frame 6 of an electric magnet are two armatures 7 and 8 respectively by means of leaf springs 9. 10 hung.
The armature 8 is electrically isolated from the magnet frame 6. The armature 7 carries a con tact 11, which faces a contact 12 which is insulated in the magnet frame 6 and from which a line 19 leads to the collector 4 and to the consumers 5. The armature 8 carries a contact 13, which works with a magnet frame 6 insulated attached contact 14 to cooperate.
The core 15 of the electric magnet has three windings: all of which have the same effect magnetically: a current winding 16, a voltage winding 17 and an additional winding 18.
On the magnet frame 20 of a voltage regulator, an armature eats 2: 1 by means of a spring 22: suspended. The core 23 of the regulator carries a voltage winding 24. A contact 25 is located on the armature 21, which works together with a contact 2'6 which is fastened to the magnet frame 20 and is insulated. The voltage winding 24 is connected on the one hand via a tap on the resistor 3 to one pole of the light masahine 1, on the other hand to: the contact 14 and 'further connected to the winding 18.
The winding 18 is therefore in series with the voltage winding 24 and is short-circuited when the contacts 13, 14 are closed. The contacts 25, 2.6 of the voltage regulator are closed in the idle state and thereby short-circuit the resistor 3.
The system is single-pole connected to the "ground" of the vehicle. Under ground of the vehicle, the electrically conductive connected electrically conductive parts of the vehicle are to be understood. The con tact 13 is ver via the armature 8 and the spring 10 by means of a line 27 with "ground" connected.
The electromagnet encompassed by the magnet frame 6 represents a combined charging switch and control regulator. The armature 7 and the contacts 11, 12 belong to the charging switch, the armature 8 and the contacts 13, 14 belong to the control regulator. If the alternator 1 is set in rotation and its voltage reaches a certain value, the switch-on voltage,
The armature 7 of the charging switch is pulled on by the action of the winding 17 and 18 and the contacts 11, 12 are closed. As a result, the battery 4 and the pre-consumer 5 are connected to the alternator 1 via the line 19.
The current consumed by the battery and the consumers flows via the current winding 16, through whose action the armature 7 of the charging switch is securely held and: the contacts 11, 12 remain closed.
The spring 10 of the armature 8 is dimensioned so that the armature 8 is not yet attracted. The contacts 13, 14 thus initially remain open. As a result, the winding 18 is in series with the voltage winding 24 of the voltage regulator. The voltage winding 24 and the winding 18, as well as the spring 22 of the armature 21, are dimensioned so that the voltage regulator is in this switching position:
As is known, the voltage of the alternator keeps at a constant value even at variable speeds, in that at this value and increasing speed the contacts 25, 26 are periodically opened and closed, whereby the resistor 3 is periodically in series with the field winding 2 switched resp. is shorted.
This voltage regulation continues: until the current supplied by the alternator 1. A certain value is reached which, for example, may correspond to the maximum current permissible for the alternator.
If this current is reached, the armature 8 of the steward regulator is now drawn, which connects the contacts 13,
14 -circuits and thereby short-circuits the winding 18. This means that the circuit is vexed to the voltage winding 24 of the voltage regulator and this regulates the voltage quickly;
to a lower value. As a result: the S-Irom decreases; the armature 8 is released again, the voltage rises again and, when the current rises again, by tightening the armature 8 again and closing the contacts 13,
1.1 quickly adjusted to a lower value again. This game repeats itself in quick succession. Since the winding 18 sits on the core 1, 3 and is periodically short-circuited by the contacts 13, 14 when the control regulator is active, it acts as a dither coil for the control regulator, which creates such a high. Control frequency for the control regulator is achieved, as it is necessary for a trouble-free and perfect '' R: eb development process.
When additional consumers are connected and the current continues to rise, the armature 8 is constantly held in the position you are attracted to. The closed contacts 13, 14 then keep the winding 18 short-circuited. The voltage of the alternator 1 is then again held in this control position at an approximately constant, but lower value than before.
The winding 18 serves, as can be seen from its mode of operation, several tasks at the same time. For the charging switch, it serves, together with the winding 17, as a voltage coil, which causes the charging switch to be switched on when the switch-on voltage is reached. For the control regulator it serves as a dither coil, since it is periodically short-circuited by the contacts 13, 14 when the armature 8 vibrates.
Finally, for the voltage winding 24 of the voltage regulator, it serves as a ballast resistor, through the control of which the desired control characteristic is achieved, which consists in keeping the voltage of the alternator initially at an approximately constant value, at a certain current value rapidly falling values and, if the load increases further, to a lower, again approximately constant value.
A special series resistor is not required. No additional winding space is required on the voltage regulator for an additional winding. Likewise, no additional winding area is required on the combined charging switch and control regulator, since the windings 17 and 18 together take up the space that the voltage winding of the charging switch would otherwise have claimed for itself.
The control regulator begins its activity when it is reached. a certain amperage. This is expediently chosen so that it does not endanger the alternator. One and the same amperage can, however. For example, when the machine is cold, it can still be portable for the machine, while when the machine is warm it can represent an overload which can endanger the machine = n. It is therefore advisable to
Let the control regulator have an effect depending on the machine temperature. This can easily be done by the fact that the contact 13 is placed in series with a heat switch, for example a bimetal switch 28 in the illustration with dashed lines. The ground connection 27 is canceled in this case. The bimetal switch 28 is arranged in the alternator 1 and closes, seich only when a certain machine temperature is reached. The control regulator can only influence the span after closing the heat switch.
The new arrangement is advantageous insofar as no special relay is required for the heat switch. As for example: the arrangement (- here requires a current coil on the voltage regulator, which is to be controlled by the control regulator. In this known arrangement, the resistance of the lead to the heat switch would have a disadvantageous effect that the control characteristics would be changed. In the illustrated embodiment, however, this line resistance does not play a role.
