Press for sheathing cables with high-melting materials. The invention relates to presses for sheathing forks with high-melting materials, in particular for sheathing with aluminum or aluminum alloys. As is well known, an aluminum jacket has to be pressed onto the cable core at significantly higher temperatures than a lead jacket, for example, because the aluminum has a higher melting point.
As a result, there is a risk that the cable insulation will burn or suffer other damage under the effects of the high temperature. It has been shown that such burns, practically during the so-called holding times, i.e. H. occur during the times when the press is standing still for the purpose of refilling the recipient.
The invention aims to avoid the difficulties outlined by using a continuously operating press. The principle of such presses is known per se.
Such continuously operating presses are. designed in such a way that several, in particular two, recipients, each with a press ram, work on the same press mouthpiece, alternately. While one of the recipients is being filled, the metal is pressed from the other recipient around the cable core.
Shortly before the working recipient is emptied, the other recipient comes into action, so that an uninterrupted metal jacket is pressed around the cable in a continuous working gano. In this way it would be. It is also possible to crimp paper-insulated cables with an aluminum jacket without damaging the insulation, as the holding times are no longer necessary.
One difficulty in the production of such presses is the training of the valve fis, which the. The recipient must be sealed tightly while the press chamber is being filled.
The valve must also be designed in such a way that the flow of metal from the other recipient can reach the mouthpiece from the recipient as unhindered as possible.
Furthermore, there must be a guarantee that no blockages or jamming can occur, and finally the valve must also be designed in such a way that the non-working cylinder is completely sealed against the high pressure of the working cylinder.
A well-known proposal (compare German patent specification no. 177565) provides for backflow valves as the closing elements of each cylinder. Apart from the fact that doubts must be linked to the operational safety of this arrangement, this arrangement has the disadvantage that the metal mass, in this case the lead, has to evade the molded piece that forms the return valve.
According to the invention, the valve consists of parts of a hollow chamber and a freely movable ball as a closure piece. Both recipients and inflow channels to the press mouthpiece a.n- are closed on the hollow chamber. The ball serving as the locking piece is automatically displaced by the pressure exerted by the material to be pressed in such a way that it closes the non-working recipient.
The arrangement is made in such a way that the ball can be seen outside the flow path of the pressed metal, e.g. B. of aluminum.
An embodiment of the press according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. A press mouthpiece of the press is shown inside the direction.
It is the case that two horizontally opposed cylinders 11 and 12 work on the same press die. Fig. 1 shows a vertical and Fig. 1.), a horizontal Sehmut through the pressing device.
The cylinders open into an elongated chamber 13, from which two inflow channels 14 and 15 lead to the press mouthpiece. In the chamber 13, a ball 1G is freely movable as a locking piece. Let us now assume that the ram 17 of the cylinder 12 is working while the ram 18 of the cylinder 11 is at rest. Then see the ball in the position, which is shown by the solid line.
Under the pressure of the material to be pressed, the ball is initially pressed against the opening of the chamber to the cylinder 11. This opening is smaller than the ball diameter, # so that the ball cannot be pushed out. The pressed material (e.g. aluminum) pressed by the punch 17 into the hollow chamber 13 flows through the channel 14 to the press mouthpiece and wraps itself in a known manner around the cable core, which is passed through the press through the guide devices 19 and 20.
When the cylinder 12 is now pressed almost completely empty. so the movement of the punch 17 is slowed down, while: at the same time the press ram 18 of the cylinder 11 is slowly moving; is set. Due to the forces occurring in the process, the ball 16 is pressed over onto the other side until it assumes the position which is shown in phantom. The material to be pressed no longer flows through channel 14, but through channel 15 to the press mouth: stüclz.
In order to be able to introduce the ball into the chamber 13, a screw connection 21 is seen before.
The devices known per se for generating the pressing pressure and for generating the required heat in the pressing niund piece are not particularly shown in the drawing.
The ball 16 is expediently made of steel to which, in a manner known per se, chromium has been added in such large quantities that the steel is not attacked by the aluminum. Since the ball is essentially only subjected to pressure, it is also possible to manufacture it from keratinous material. It does not necessarily have to be a ball that takes over the function of the closing element. For example, a cylinder with cone tips can take the place of the ball.
However, it is not an absolute prerequisite for the applicability of the inventive concept that the cylinders work horizontally; Any other angle to the horizontal can also be used.
Preferably you will bezw the two cylinders. Arrange the recipients horizontally, however, in such a way that: Both cylinders are coaxially positioned above one another, since with this arrangement the movement of the ball and thus the closure of the non-working cylinder takes place most safely.
