Drum-shaped impeller for centrifugal machines conveying liquid or gaseous media. The present invention relates to a drum-shaped impeller for liquid or gaseous media conveying centrifugal machines with flow channels emanating from a central cavity, the outlets of which interrupt the outer surface of the drum.
This impeller is characterized in that the rear wall of each flow channel collides with the jacket surface at a point which has a smaller radial distance from the center of the wheel than the front edge of the outlet opening of the channel, in order to avoid eddies a particle of the medium to be conveyed appears at the front edge of the outlet opening and hits the outer surface and does not hit the rear wall of the channel.
The accompanying drawing shows, for example, several embodiments of the subject matter of the invention.
1 shows schematically in cross section a developed part of an impeller; Fig. 2 is a comparative diagram of the efficiency of two embodiments; FIG. 3 shows a first embodiment in section according to III-III of FIG. 4; Fig. 4 shows this embodiment in side view; Fig; 5 shows a second embodiment in section along V-V of FIG. 6; Fig. 6 is a side view of this embodiment, partly in section; Fig. 7 shows, similar to Fig. 3, a third embodiment, and Fig. 8 shows an axial section along the line A-o-B in Fig. 3, through a further embodiment.
In Fig. 1 shows in cross section an exit opening and its immediate surroundings for one of the flow channels of an impeller, the diameter of which is assumed to be infinitely large for the sake of simplicity. Accordingly, the contour of the cylindri's lateral surface c is shown by the straight line 1 and the. The walls of the intermediate spaces 2, which separate the channels 3, are parallel, the axis of the impeller being infinitely far away. The liquid or passively shaped medium to be conveyed through the channels therefore moves from the bottom upward as indicated by the arrows in the figure.
The impeller rotates counterclockwise as indicated by the horizontal arrow at the bottom of the figure.
4 denotes a curved surface which at one end meets the rear wall of the flow channel in the edge 6 and at the other end overbrows into the lateral surface. The pressure of the liquid respectively. Air column, which is located in the pressure tube of the pump, see through the not ordered diffuser, namely the space above line 1 in the figure, and tries to push the medium to be pumped in the opposite way through the flow channels of the impeller, d. H. down in the figure against the arrows.
The particles of the medium to be conveyed move around in the diffuser, namely at a speed which is less than the speed of the impeller and which gradually decreases as one can see in the annular space away from the outer surface of the impeller . If one thinks that the impeller is stationary, then this speed difference results as a movement of the particles around the impeller in the opposite direction to the normal direction of rotation of the same, i.e. from left to right in the figure.
If one now seeks a particle a, which slides along the outer surface of the impeller in this rela tive movement, one sees that the particle which appears at the front edge 7 of the outlet opening of the flow channel, under the influence of the pressure mentioned, see through downwards seeks to move the flow channel. The wider the channel in the peripheral direction, the further the particle will be able to travel in it before it reaches the other side wall of the channel. Some of the positions of the particle during movement are indicated in FIG. 1 by the letters b, c, d 1 and e 1. As can be seen in the figure, the particles touch a hum curve 5.
If the surface 4 did not have the curvilinear shape shown, the particle would have hit the wall of the channel and vortices would have formed in the fluid to be conveyed, which would result in a reduced efficiency of the pump. As the figure shows, however, in position e the particle hits the surface -4, which starts from the rear edge 6. The front edge 7nmust be further away from the center of the impeller than the kintering edge 6, in such a way that the particle is lifted up like the one towards the periphery of the impeller.
It goes without saying that it requires work to bring the dividing back to the original balne along the surface 4. Therefore, the distance 6-8 must on the one hand be so large that the surface 4 can catch the particles, and on the other hand so small that the work mentioned is limited as much as possible.
Too large an Al distance 6-8 also shows that d, a, ss3 the pressure exerted by the pump; is reset. since it is precisely the inner walls of the channels that are most effective - are for the reaction that bring the required pressure to the medium to be conveyed.

It can be seen that the last-mentioned impeller achieves a higher maximum efficiency, namely about 92%, while the first-mentioned impeller only reaches an efficiency of about 86%.
It can also be seen that the efficiency according to curve # 2 is good over a much larger range than is the case with curve # 1. In the range of 2 to 9 m3 / air volume conveyed per minute, the efficiency of the improved impeller fluctuates between about 78 and 92%, while the efficiency of the previously known impeller fluctuates in the same range between about 60 and 86.
In FIGS. 3 and 4, a first embodiment of a drum-shaped impeller for a centrifugal pump for liquid or gaseous media is shown. The drum 9 has rectangular cross-section through flow channels 10, which extend from the central hollow space 11, and the rectangular outlet openings 12 interrupt the cylindrical one central surface of the impeller.
The zy-cylindrical lateral surface goes with a rounding 13 in the rear wall 10 'of each flow channel, the attachment point 6 of the rounding on the rear wall from the center of the wheel has a smaller radial distance than the front edge 7, the outlet opening of the channel, so that at the front derkante 7 of the outlet opening of the channel appearing particles of the medium to be conveyed meets this rounding during the rotation of the wheel and, as shown in Fig. 1, is raised to the periphery of the wheel. The difference in the radial distance between the front edge 7 and the point 6 is at most one tenth of the radial distance between the front edge 7.
As can be seen in FIG. 3, the inlet ends of the flow channels 10 are curved forwards in the direction of rotation of the impeller. Furthermore, the ratio between the dimension g of the flow channels in the axial direction and f perpendicular thereto is at least 3.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6, the impeller has two side walls 15 and 16, which are each connected to a radially directed rear wall 17 and the wall 18 forming part of the lateral surface. The rear wall 17 of the flow channels 10 collides with the wall 18 in a rear edge 6, which has a smaller radial distance than the front edge 14, so that, similar to the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, an on the front the edge 14 of the appearing particle of the medium to be conveyed hits the wall 18 during the rotation, the wheel and the wall 18 slides along.
The rear wall 17 of the channel and the wall 18 can be cast in one piece, or they can be made from a single sheet or made by welding two pieces of sheet metal together.
The wall 18 does not extend all the way to the next rear wall 17, but leaves an outlet opening 12 free for the medium to be conveyed from the inside of the impeller to the diffuser.
An imaginary wall 19 shown in dotted lines is to be understood as a demarcation for those liquid or air particles: that flow through the impeller, and for those particles: that are not in motion or in closed circles in the sector-shaped space 19 ' flow around.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 7: the outlet ends of the flow channels are curved backwards in the direction of rotation in order to produce a constriction at the mouth of these channels, whereby a certain amount of suction is achieved at this point becomes.
F'ig. 8 shows an embodiment of an impeller in which the end surfaces of the drum are designed as lateral surfaces of cones with an obtuse opening angle, the tips of which are directed towards one another, which means that the outlet openings are particularly narrow.
The impellers described are characterized by a simple construction, and have the advantage that for a pump, which BEZW in liquid-filled. gas-filled state, but works with the pressure line shut off, only a moderate amount of force is required, so that a good level of efficiency is achieved in normal operation. This efficiency is improved by the design of the impeller, since the passage speed of liquid e keifen or. Gases is low and kept as bleaching as possible, whereby the losses due to friction and vortex formation as well as losses of living force are reduced.
The design of the impellers described also makes it possible to build single-stage pumps, whereas in both previous designs, in order to achieve the same pressure, two or more stages usually had to be used.
