Process for the production of a metal-containing dye. It has been found that valuable metal-containing dyes are obtained if one per se metallizable dyes together with a salicylic acid, which is substituted in the core by an aliphatic radical containing at least 3 carbon atoms, directly or via a bridge member, or with a homologue or a substitution product of such salicylic acid treated in a known manner with metal donating agents.
As bridge members via which the said aliphatic radical can be linked to the benzene nucleus of salicylic acid, for example -0-, -S-, -SO_1% TH- or -NH come into question. CO-. The aliphatic radicals can be straight or branched ver; Those which contain a branched chain are particularly advantageous.
In the process, the metallizable dyes and the salicylic acids mentioned can be used in varying amounts; however, it has proven to be particularly advantageous if the molar ratio of metallizable dye to salicylic acid is 1: 1.
The dyestuffs obtainable by the process are characterized by very good solubility in organic solution pots, in particular by excellent solubility in esters. In this latter property in particular, they are clearly superior to the known dyes, which are soluble in organic solvents. As a result of these good solubility properties, the new dyes can be used as fuel and zapon dyes. Because of their good solubility in acetone, they are also suitable as spun dyes for acetate silk.
The present patent is a process for the preparation of a metal-containing dye. The process is characterized in that 1 mol of the monoazo dye from diazotized 1-aminobenzene-2-carboxylic acid and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone together with 1 mol of the phenol obtained by the action of isoamylene and subsequently Carboxylation available product with chromium donating agents.
The new metal-containing dye dissolves in alcohol, acetone, ethyl and amyl acetate and has an excellent yellow color.
Example: 8 parts by weight of the monoazo dye from diazotized 1-aminobenzene-2-carboxylic acid and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone are suspended in 200 parts by weight of alcohol and mixed with 5.2 parts by weight of the product that was obtained by the action of isoamylene on phenol and subsequent carboxylation and a solution of 11 parts by weight of 23% chromium oxide in 11 parts by weight of formic acid heated under reflux until the starting dye has dissolved.
The alcoholic solution is filtered and the solvent is then distilled off. The dye thus obtained, with a yellow color, dissolves excellently in alcohol, acetone, ethyl acetate and amyl acetate. A chromium-containing dye produced in the same way, but without isoamylsalicylic acid, dissolves much more poorly, especially in esters.
Yield: approx. 16.5 parts by weight.
