Speed change gearboxes for bicycles. There are already gear change gear for bicycles known, in which on the hub of the rear wheel two to four different sized chain wheels are slidably arranged, which are brought into engagement with the drive chain according to the selected translation. Compared to other gear change gears, z. B. planetary gears, these over gear change gears have the advantage of greater simplicity and ease.
A disadvantage, however, is to be seen in the fact that a mechanism arranged on the frame of the bicycle had to be provided for the displacement of the chain wheels on the hub of the rear wheel, which mechanism is highly exposed to pollution. Since one tries for obvious reasons to keep the rear hub as narrow as possible, the shifting of the sprockets on the rear hub has so far been effected by a sliding lever that engages directly between two of the linked chain wheels.
Such a displacement device exposed to dust and dirt wears out quickly and often gives rise to malfunctions. These disadvantages are eliminated by the present invention in that the gear ratio change is effected from the inside out by a chain introduced through the hollow axle of the rear wheel. Such a training he makes it possible in a preferred Ausfüh approximately example to accommodate the organs causing the translation change included on the hub of the rear wheel, where they are protected from any contamination.
The present invention relates to a gear change transmission for bicycles with a plurality of axially displaceable chain wheels, which are brought into engagement with the drive chain according to the selected gear ratio, in which a bolt zen in the axle of the rear wheel provided on the drive side with a bore of the bicycle slidably guided, one end of which in a:
continuous longitudinal slot, the axis lying driver is attached, which nut is connected to a on the axis of the rear wheel displaceably arranged, under the action of a compression spring inwardly pushed driver sleeve, on which a ring is rotatably, but axially not displaceably mounted, which radially arranged, through longitudinal slots of a fixed in the hub of the rear wheel of the bicycle and protruding with this rotating sleeve and in bores of a second sleeve axially displaceable on this sleeve, which carries the sprockets, protruding, such.
that by moving the bolt in the axle of the rear wheel with the aid of a pulling element connected to this bolt by a chain, which is inserted into the bore of the rear wheel axle through a mouthpiece placed on the end of the rear wheel axle, and actuated by a transmission adjustment lever, the driver sleeve on the axle and with it the bushing carrying the sprockets is moved on the inner bushing and thus another sprocket is brought into engagement with the drive chain,
While when the pulling element is released by the transmission adjustment lever, the driver sleeve and with it the bushing carrying the sprocket wheels are pushed back under the action of the spring acting on it.
In the drawing, FIGS. 1 and 2 show, for example, an embodiment of a rear wheel axle of a bicycle with a transmission change gear in two positions in section. FIG. 3 shows a single unit and FIG. 4 shows a section along line 1-I in FIG. 1.
1 with the axle of the rear wheel of a bicycle is referred to, which is provided on both sides with a thread. On one side. This axis 1 sits the inner ring 2 of an angular contact ball bearing. Which is secured by a locking washer 3 and a locking nut 4. The outer ring 5 of this angular contact ball bearing is inserted into the hub 6, on the end of which the connecting flange 7 for one half of the wire spokes sits. On the other end of the hub 6 sits a shell-shaped housing 8 that is open to the outside, that is to say towards the drive chain, the outer edge 9 of which forms a flange for the connection of the other half of the wire spokes.
A bushing 10 is screwed into the opposite end of the hub 6, the outer end of which forms the outer ring of an angular contact ball bearing, the inner ring 11 of which is screwed onto the opposite side of the axle 1 and secured by a washer 12 and a lock nut 13.
Outside the Sicherheitsimgsmu.t- tern 4 and 13 on the axis 1 screwed fastening nuts 14 respectively. 15 with lining disks 16 respectively. 17 are used to attach the axle 1 in the rear fork of the bicycle. On the drive side, the axle 1 has an axial bore 18 in which a bolt 19 is guided, at the outer end of which a chain 20 emerges through the fastening nut 15 designed as a mouthpiece and is provided with a connector 21 at its end, sits.
The inner end of the bolt 19 is screwed into a courage taker 22, which lies in a continuous longitudinal slot 23 in the axis 1 and is axially displaceable in this. The two ends of the nut 22 engage in holes of a slidable on the axis 1 bar beleaguered driver bushing 24. On this Mitnehmerbiiehse 24 acts a compression spring 25, which is supported against the inner ring 11 of this side angular contact ball bearing and which pushes the driver bushing 24 inward.
A ring 26 is freely rotatably mounted on the driver bushing 24, on the one hand by a flange at its end and on the other hand by the ends of the nut 22 projecting beyond the driver bushing 24. Two pins 27 are radially screwed into the ring 26 and protrude through the longitudinal slots 28 of the sleeve 10. A bushing 29 is seated axially displaceably on the bushing 10 and is secured against rotation relative to the bushing 10 by cams which engage in grooves provided on the outside of the bushing 10.
This bush 29 has radial bores in which: the pins 27 engage. At the inner end of the sleeve 29, a protective sleeve 30 is arranged, which engages in an annular cover 31 inserted into the housing 8 and is displaceable therein. A cover cap 32 is pushed over the outer end of the sleeve 10, which is fastened between the lock washer 12 and the lock nut 13 and the edge of which engages in the outer, smooth end of the sleeve 29 and is displaceable therein.
A freewheel hub 33 is arranged on the sleeve 29, on which the chain wheels 34, 34 ', 34 ", 34"' sit.
The driver bushing 24 is pressed inward by the compression spring 25 until the driver 22 rests on the inner end of the longitudinal slot 23. This position, in which the outermost, smallest sprocket 34 is in engagement with the drive chain of the bicycle, is shown in FIG. It corresponds to the largest adjustable ratio of the gear change gear.
The bush 29 is rotated by the sprocket 34 via the freewheel 33, which in turn takes the bush 10 with it. The ring 26, on which the pegs: 27 sit, rotates on the stationary driver bush 24.
The connecting piece 21 of the chain 20 is connected by a cable or other pulling element to a setting lever that can be fixed in notches, the number of which corresponds to the number of different ratios, on the frame of the bicycle. In the position described, this is a lever in the one outermost detent. To: set the next lower gear ratio, move the setting lever to the next notch.
As a result, the chain 20, at the end of which the bolt 19 is seated, is pulled out of the axis by a piece corresponding to the axial distance between the chain wheels 34 and 34 '. The driver 22 connected to the bolt 19 is thereby pulled outward in the longitudinal slot 23, whereby it correspondingly displaces the driver bushing 24 and the ring 26 rotating on it, counter to the action of the compression spring 25, outward. The pins 27 seated on the ring 26,
which can move axially in the slots 28 of the bushing 10, thereby moving the bushing 29 on the bushing 10 and with it the freewheeling hub 33 and the sprockets 34, 34 ', 34 "and 34"' that sit on it Place of the chain wheel 34. The chain wheel 34 'comes into engagement with the drive chain of the bicycle. The transition to: the other translations is effected in an analogous manner.
The gear ratio change in the opposite sense is brought about by the compression spring 25 acting on the driver bushing 24 after the adjustment lever on the bicycle frame has been adjusted accordingly.
The protective sleeve 30 engaging in the annular cover 31 on the one hand and the ab- sehlusshaube 32 engaging in the sleeve 29 on the other hand achieve a completely dust-tight closure of the inner parts of the transmission change gear.
Since the pin 19 can also be easily sealed in the bore 18, and a suitable seal can easily be attached between the inner ring 2 of the angular contact ball bearing on the other side of the axis 1 and the end flange 7, the interior of the gearbox can be included the two angular contact ball bearings on which the rear wheel of the bicycle runs are effectively protected from yerschmutziuwg.
