Time delay heater. The object of the invention is a time delay heater, that is to say an apparatus capable of restoring with a certain time lag, in the form of heat, at least part of the energy. provided to him.
The heating apparatus according to the invention is characterized by a generator container containing a material capable of releasing heat by absorption of water and of being regenerated in the anhydrous state by absorption of heat, by a heating element embedded in this material, by a condenser connected to said generating vessel by a pipe for the steam and a pipe for the condensation water and by a valve inserted in said water pipe.
The heating element intended to regenerate said material in its anhydrous state may be electric, and in this case this regeneration may preferably take place during the periods when the current is supplied at reduced cost.
The heat supplied by the apparatus in the form of steam can be used either directly or indirectly, and in the latter case the condenser can be part of a heat exchanger.
The accompanying drawing shows, schematically, by way of example, an embodiment of the heating apparatus forming the subject of the invention, in this case a water heater capable of supplying a group. central heating radiators by thermosiphon, or serve as a hot water generator for all uses.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section and FIG. 2 a cross section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
The execubion form shown com takes a generator container 1 and a controller 8 installed in a common heat-insulated casing 3. The generator container is provided with a sealed inner metal pipe 4 containing an electric heating trésis. refractory insulation. This container is three quarters full of the mentioned material 5 which. can thus be heated electrically.
When no electrical energy is available, the pipe 4 can be arranged as a combustion gas duct or a heating fluid whatever.
The condenser 8 is placed in a boiler 2 fitted with the usual cold water inlet 6 and hot water outlet pipes 7. It comprises a double-walled cylindrical condensation chamber, but could also include a network of tubes. .
A steam line 9 connects the top of the container to the top of the condensation chamber. A smaller diameter water pipe 10, fitted with a valve 11, connects the bottom of the condensation chamber to the top of the container 1 where a diffuser 12 distributes the water over the surface of the material 5.
The material used may be an anhydrous salt, an anhydrous oxide or a mixture of several anhydrous salts or oxides capable of hydrating with the evolution of heat.
The operation of the water heater described and shown is as follows: The first phase is that of heating the material 5. The pipe 4 is then connected to a heating installation. In the case of electric heating, this phase can be applied during the night hours for which the tariff is the most advantageous. The material 5 dehydrates under the action of heat and gives off steam which rises in the line 9 and condenses in the condenser 8. The valve 11 is closed, so that the water collects in the condenser. the condenser.
The greater part of the heat supplied is thus absorbed by the dehydration of the chemical and the other part is transmitted to the condenser.
The second phase can be triggered at the most favorable moment, and with all the desired slowness, by opening the valve 11, which makes it possible to regulate the speed of flow of the condensed water in the receptacle 1. The water is spread. by the diffuser 12 on the surface of the anhydrous material, the hydration of which produces a release of heat which revaporates part of the water. This fear rises and condenses as in the first phase and the process continues until the material is completely hydrated 5.
The heat which was absorbed by dehydration in the couns of the first phase is thus restored during the second phase.
Closing the valve 11 causes the process to stop.
