Grille hydraulique.
Hydraulic grid. The present invention relates to a hydraulic grid intended to retain floating bodies in order to prevent their introduction into installations such as hydraulic turbines for example.
By their accumulation, the bodies thus held obstruct the grids, which necessitates additional installations for clearing the latter, generally constituted by rows of straight, vertical or inclined bars.
The aim of the present invention is to provide a grid capable of removing by its own means the foreign bodies which it retains. For this purpose, this grid has the shape of a body of revolution arranged so as to be able to turn around its axis and so that the water to be rid of foreign floating bodies passes through it in a cen tripet direction.
This arrangement has the effect of driving the foreign bodies attached to the outside of the grid, by making them participate in the rotational movement of the latter which allows them to be brought without further to a weir or other elimination means.
The appended drawing shows two embodiments of the object of the invention, given by way of example, as well as some details.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of a bottom sin of supply of a hydraulic turbine, the water of which passes through a grid according to the first embodiment, supposed to include an axis of rotation directed transversely to the direction of arrival of the 'water.
Fig. 2 is a corresponding horizontal projection, the upper half of which is in view and the lower half in section.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section similar to that of FIG. 1, but relating to the second embodiment, having a grid whose axis of rotation is directed parallel to the direction of arrival of the water.
Fig. 4 shows this second embodiment seen in plan and, FIG. 5 end view, the flow of water being supposed to take place by entering the plane of the drawing. Fig. 6 shows an assembly detail of a bar of one of the two grids shown.
The fi * 7 shows, in axial section. a construction detail of the end of a grid.
Fig. 8 shows a particular arrangement of a rake cooperating with the grid for the purpose of leading the foreign floating bodies to be eliminated into a weir.
In the first embodiment, according to fi-. 1 and 2, the water goes to the grid through the inlet channel 1 ending in a spiral tarpaulin 2 with a horizontal axis transverse to the direction of arrival. At the bottom point of the tarpaulin is a channel 3 for the evacuation of sand and gravel.
Parallel to the axis of the tarpaulin and across the entire channel extends the cylindrical grid 4, consisting of circular bars arranged around a shaft 5 supported by two bearings 6 and 7, all for mant, at the Except for the orientation of the bars, a squirrel cage.
The ends of the cylinder thus constituted coincide, as shown in fig. 2, with channels 8, 9, of the same section which, after having joined together, lead the water to a turbine, not shown. In the triangular space remaining between the tarpaulin containing the grid and the two aforementioned channels, there is finally a weir 10 connected to an evacuation channel 11.
It is easy to see that the water, following the path indicated by the arrows, penetrates centrally into the grid which it leaves axially at the two ends. To facilitate the change of direction inflicted by i LI this path, the interior of the grid contains a body of revolution 12 made of sheet metal, the general shape of which is that of two cones acco lengths at their base and coaxial with the grid. They play the role of ensuring deflectors. a flow without eddies, therefore without additional resistance.
The operating condition of the grid being. to rotate, it is obvious that it can be achieved in various ways, for example by driving it by means of an independent motor, hydraulic, electric or other, where to. from one of the machines in the factory to which it belongs.
In the example described, this drive is done by itself, by the addition of blades 13 on the spokes ensuring the connection between the longitudinal spacers 14 and the axis 5 of the grid, thanks to the orientation of these blades , the grid will be set in motion by the water itself escaping through its two ends into the channels 8 and 9. The direction of rotation will be that of clockwise with respect to fig. 1, ie an upward movement on the left half of the grid such (read shown in FIG. 2 and lowering on the corresponding right half.
The grid is located at such a level that it emerges slightly from the water, which allows it to fulfill the function of lifting foreign floating bodies stopped by its bars. Fig. 1 allows to realize how such bodies, coming from the left with regard to the drawing, will be entrained by the grid, above it, to be then separated therefrom by the rake 15 extending along one of its sides. its generators, practically at water level and ending in an inclined plane in the weir 10.
Practice has shown that a rotating grid thus constructed eliminates not only all foreign floating bodies independent of the water, but also the ice cubes formed by the latter, which the grid does not retain but also carries to the weir.
It should be noted that the pillars 16 and 17 of the bearings of the grid have an aerodynamic section making their resistance <i to the flow of water practically zero. The bearings themselves can be lubricated by any means, they will preferably be with pressurized water or will be of leaktight construction.
Note in this regard that by making the deflector 12 waterproof, the grid will be lightened by the weight of the water displaced by it, so that the bearings will work at low pressure. The installation described can of course include large bars, widely spaced front grilles, for the purpose of retaining large objects such as tree trunks.
In front of the grid, it may be useful to have a separator 18 for surface water and bottom water, which ensures a more regular flow and facilitates the deposit of sand and gravel in the lower part of the cover 2.
The blades 13 may be fixed or oriented tables. In the latter case, the inclination will be modified in relation to the height of the water at various times of the year.
The embodiment according to FIGS. 3 to 5 differs from the previous one in that the axis of rotation of the grid is parallel to the direction of arrival and to the direction of water flow.
Brought through the intake channel 19, the water goes, after passing through the cylindrical grid 20, through the channel 21 located at the end and at the rear of the latter.
The penetration is done centripetally and the exit axially, a deflector 22 assuring without disturbance the necessary change of direction of the direction of flow.
The front of the grid is covered by the pillar 23, supporting one of the landings, and of rounded shape. In the absence of such a pillar, the corresponding face of the grid could comprise a cap in the form of a half-sphere or of another body of revolution facilitating the flow of water.
Foreign floating bodies as the grid, rotating clockwise with respect to fig. 5, will rise above it, will be caught and removed by the care of the rake 24 and leads to the weir 24a, the corresponding rotational movement of the grid being obtained by one of the means mentioned above.
In front of the grid and on the side of pillar 23 leading to the part of the grid effecting a downward movement by suita of its rotation, a screen 2.5 penetrates from top to bottom in the water, leading the waters of on face and any foreign floating bodies on the side of the grid which, as a result of the aforementioned direction of rotation, is liable to raise the latter. To help the flow without eddies, the end of the channel 19, close to the grid, ends in a spiral sheet with a horizontal axis parallel to the direction of the water supply. The sand and gravel will escape through the discharge channel 26.
The rear bearing of the grid is supported by a spacer 27 of aerodynamic cross section.
Instead of being cylindrical, the grid could very well be conical or in the form of a truncated cone. In this case, the base of the cone, respectively the large base of the truncated cone would coincide with the channel 21., as is the case for the posterior base of the cylindrical grid shown.
The fi-. 6 shows how a longitudinal strut 28 can be connected to. a circular bar 29 by a welded trestle 30. Assuming that the assembly rotates in the direction of the arrow, it can be seen that the direction of the edge 3.1 of the trestle gives rise to a centripetal push tending to clean it of any fine deposit.
The spacers, which the examples shown show four in number, will preferably be interconnected by rings independent of the bars and providing the assembly with the required rigidity.
Fig. 7 shows the downstream end of such a spacer 32 and the last five bars 3-3. The rigidity of the assembly is obtained by a 3-4 sheet in the form of a quarter torus. This shape has the advantage of not reducing the flow section available opposite the opening of the channel with which the face of the grid in question coincides, and the edge of which is shown at 35.
The two arrows in this figure show in fact how the water has free passage, on the one hand, internally and concentrically to said circle, on the other hand, between the drawn bars, externally to said circle acting as a deflector.
This circle may. also support the paliers of the blade trunnions, in the case of an automatic drive like that of the example of the wire. 1 and 2.
Finally, fig. 8 shows, facing a grid 36 with spacer 37 and circle 38, the arrangement of a rake 39 of adjustable height in correspondence with the height of the water. The peculiarity expressed by this figure is that the rake moves for this purpose concentrically with the grid, along its support 40, shown schematically, which ensures an always similar relative position of the rake and of the bars of the grid.
