Process for the preparation of a green trisazo dye. It has been found that valuable green trisazo dyes are obtained if tetrazotized diamino compounds of the general formula NH2-Ri-CO. NH-R2-NH2 where Ri and R2 are benzene nuclei which can be substituted, first combined on one side with a yellow component containing the ortho-oxycarboxylic acid group,
then coupled with 1-amino-2-alkoxynaphthalene or its sulfonic acids, these dyes are further diazotized and finally combined with an N-acyl-peri-aminohydroxynaphthalene-sulfonic acids. The alkyl radical of the alkoxy group in the second coupling component can itself be further substituted.
According to experience, tetrazotized diamino compounds of the general formula couplings given above are such that the diazo group adhering to the benzene nucleus Ri first reacts; This is where the yellow component, which contains the ortho-oxy-carboxylic acid group, is located in the finished dye.
The new dyes have good drawability and provide clear green colorations on cotton and regenerated cellulose with good acid resistance and etchability. The dyeings obtained can be considerably improved in their fastness properties by aftertreatment with metal salts, the clear color shade hardly becoming clouded, especially on treatment with the salts of trivalent chromium.
The present patent relates to a process for the production of a green tris azo dye. The process is characterized in that tetrazotized 1-amino-4- (4'-aminobenzoylamino) benzene is first combined with 1 mole of salicylic acid, then with 1 mole of 1-amino-2-ethoxynaphthalene-6-sulfonic acid,
the aminodisazo dye thus obtained is further diazotized and coupled with 1-acetylamino-8-oxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid. The new dye is a metallic, shiny, water-soluble powder and dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose in green tones.
Example: 113.5 parts of 1-amino-4- (4'-aininobenzoyl-amino) benzene are dissolved in 4800 parts of ice-water with the addition of 31.0 parts of hydrochloric acid (d = 1.18) and poured through Add dropwise 69 parts of sodium nitrate in 350 parts of water tetrazole. To the clear tetrazo solution, which has been blunted with 275 parts of sodium acetate,
a solution of 80 parts of 1-oxybenzene-2-carbons @ itires sodium in 500 parts of water is run in and 480 parts of 20 percent sodium hydroxide solution are slowly added to complete the half-sided coupling. So then the solution of 150 parts of 1- amino-2-ethoxynaplithaliii-6-sulfonsaureni Na trium is entered in 1700 parts of water. The second coupling is completed after 18 hours and is suctioned off with acetic acid. For renewed diazotization, this intermediate product is dissolved in 10,000 parts of water with a little sodium hydroxide solution and, after the addition of 35 parts of sodium nitrite, acidified with 600 parts of hydrochloric acid (d = 1.18).
The brown diazo compound is isolated and stirred as a paste into the ice-cold suspension of 210 parts of 1-acetylamino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulphonic acid and 100 parts of sodium bicarbonate in 2500 parts of pyridine and 180 parts of water: after a short time the new, pure green dye crystallizes with a metallic sheen and is filtered off and dried.
It dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose from the Glauber's salt bath green. Treatment with chromium fluoride makes the colorations washable without being significantly tarnished.
