Process for regulating the operation of drying apparatus with air circulation. It is known that it is difficult to regulate drying devices in such a way that the material to be dried reaches a certain prescribed degree of dryness. This deficiency is particularly disadvantageous when the material to be dried is sensitive to overheating. This overheating only occurs when the water content has gone down to a very low level and the cooling of the dry goods due to evaporation of the water contained therein is no longer sufficient.
The subject of the invention is a method for regulating the operation of drying apparatuses according to the water content of the dry material, which is characterized in that the regulation takes place with the aid of a device that measures temperature differences. For this purpose, it is best to measure the temperature of the dry air before and after passing through the dry material and then read the specific water content of the dry material corresponding to the difference between these temperatures on a table.
This difference is namely under certain conditions exclusively Lich of the degree of dryness BEZW. the heat absorption capacity of the dry goods. If you have a certain amount of dry material through which a certain amount of air of a certain initial temperature is sent, only so much of the heat content of the air can be given off as the given amount of dry material can absorb, and the drier the less that will be the dry turned out well.
One can determine through previous experiments how great the temperature decrease of the dry air becomes when the dry material has the degree of dryness to be achieved.
If, therefore, the temperature of the drying air is measured before and after passage through the drying material and made visible or audible to the operators of the drying apparatus, then, when this temperature difference has fallen to a certain level, the drying material can with the correct dryness level must be removed from the dryer.
It would also be possible, especially where it is dry bulk material, such. B. grass to regulate the ejection of the dry good from the drying apparatus automatically with the help of a relay, which is triggered when thermometers, which are arranged in the sense of the dry air flow in front of and behind the dry goods, show the difference in temperature indicative of the final dryness.
Furthermore, the inlet temperature of the dry air can be reduced in such a Mo management, z. B. their heating shut off, cht or switched off to prevent overheating of the dry goods. This device would also work when the dryer is empty, for example, so that the temperature difference is automatically zero; in this way, waste of heat can be avoided.
It is also possible to differentiate other temperature, z. B. to measure the difference between the wet temperature of the dry air (dew point) and its dry temperature and to use it for control. "Wet temperature" is to be understood as the temperature that is measured in the dry air by means of a wet thermometer, while the "dry temperature" is the temperature that a dry thermometer indicates in the same air.
This temperature difference is suitable for controlling the drying process because, as the dryness progresses in the drying process, the relative humidity, for the measurement of which the difference between wet and dry temperatures is known to be decisive, falls. The said temperature difference can be determined at the exit of the dryer or at another point. According to him, the course of the drying process can be assessed and the regulation of the drying process can be made dependent.
In the case of larger dryers, the temperatures will not only be measured at one point each, but the measuring points will be distributed over the dry goods parts with approximately the same dryness status in order to obtain a good mean value of the temperatures. This mean value can itself be formed in a known manner in a summation instrument that is appropriately calibrated.
