Description
Method for producing film-like layers. The invention relates to the production of foil-like, in particular metallic layers.
It is known to produce such layers as coherent mass on an auxiliary body, for example by the known cathodic sputtering, and then to dissolve this auxiliary body with a means by which the layer thus produced is not attacked. It often happens that this layer, after it is free of the auxiliary body, curls up in the liquid solvent. Rolling them up again is usually hardly possible. It can also happen that the layer, as soon as it is removed from the solvent, tears due to the resistance of its surface tension.
According to the invention, these disadvantages are avoided in that an auxiliary body is used as the carrier of the layer, which consists of a sublimable substance, that is to say leaves the layer as an independent structure when sublimating. All sublimable substances that can be brought into a desired shape are suitable for this, e.g. B. solid carbon dioxide, camphor, salmiac.
In the drawing, Fig. 1 is a cal matic side view of the auxiliary body and a layer produced on it; Fig. 2 and ä are similar views to FIG. 1 and serve to explain an application of the new method.
It denotes .9. the sublimable auxiliary body, B a layer that is produced on it, for example by the known cathodic sputtering, vapor deposition in a vacuum, spraying, spinning, rubbing, or by galvanic or chemical deposition, etc., or also by a com combination of such procedures.
Fig. 2 shows any object C which is to be provided with the B layer. This can be done in such a way that the auxiliary body .A is placed on the object C, then the layer B is herge on it and finally the sublimation takes place, through which the auxiliary body A disappears so that according to FIG remains and the item C be covered. It is also possible to first provide the body A with the layer B and then place it on the object C. In both cases, layer B is transferred to object C by sublimating body A.
If layer B is produced in an air-diluted room, there are no air pockets between B and C after sublimation.
