Facility for eliminating overlapping images respectively. Secondary images in stereo recording respectively. -Playback according to the double picture method. When playing stereo films by the double-screen method, it is necessary to bring the two partial images on the projection screen to coincide.
You can proceed in such a way that a single projection lens is used, in front of which two wedges are arranged approximately in a horizontal position, which divide the projection lens into an upper and lower half and which cause the light rays passing through the upper lens half to move horizontally one, the light beams passing through the lower half of the lens are deflected horizontally to the other side. This ensures that a left and a right partial image are aligned in the middle of the screen.
In addition, however, there are two additional side images that have to be licked off in some way, otherwise they would considerably disturb the stereoscopic effect during observation. So far, the procedure to eliminate the secondary images was such that a slit-shaped diaphragm was arranged at a certain distance in front of the projection lens, with which the two outer partial images were masked out.
However, this has the disadvantage that, on the one hand, the screen only fades out in a vignetting manner and, on the other hand, it is difficult to attach the screens in front of a performance booth in the theater.
According to the invention, such mechanical diaphragms are avoided in that pre-polarizers with different positions of the transmission direction are attached in the two partial beam paths, which in combination with main polarizers, which are useful in the image window in front of the photographic recording material during recording and behind the image during reproduction the object are attached jective, an overlap of the partial images BEZW. cause the elimination of the secondary images.
In the accompanying drawing, the subject of the invention is schematically illustrated, namely: Fig. 1 shows the course of the light rays through the upper half of the lens, Fig. the course of the light rays through the lower half of the objective and FIG. 3 finally the cooperation of the two beam paths for the reproduction of partial stereo images.
A left respectively the right partial image corresponding to it from a stereo film is finite 1 respectively. 2 designated. The pre-polarizers 3 and 4 are arranged in front of the partial images, of which the pre-polarizer 3 is polarized vertically and the pre-polarizer 4 is polarized horizontally, as indicated in the drawing by the lines. The light passes through the lens 5 and the main polarizer 6 assigned to the upper lens half, the transmission direction of which is horizontal.
The left partial image would appear in the absence of the main polarizer 6 through the wedge 7 on the projection screen in the 8 position. However, since the transmission device of the main polarizer 6 is perpendicular to the transmission direction of the pre-polarizer 3, the partial image 1 is extinguished. The partial image, on the other hand, can pass unhindered through the main polarizer 6 and is deflected by the wedge according to FIG.
Fig. 2 shows the beam path for the lower half of the objective. The passage line of the main polarizer 6 is perpendicular to that of the main polarizer for the upper half of the objective according to FIG. 1.
Here, the left partial image 1 is allowed to pass through the main polarizer 6 and, after passing through the wedge 10, is imaged on the projection screen in 11, while the right partial image 2, which is shown in the absence of the ITatipt polarizer 6 after passing through the wedge 10 would appear in 12 is extinguished.
Fig. 3 shows. and finally, the cooperation of the two beam paths, the projected partial images 9 and 11 coming into congruence on the screen (cross hatching). The partial images 12 respectively. 8 do not appear: on the screen because, as explained above, they are extinguished. The pre-polarizers 3 and 4 are expediently arranged in the direction of the lighting line behind the film in order to avoid destruction of the filler by excessively high temperatures.
The method described above for playback can also be used analogously when recording stereoscopic films. The pre-polarizers (now, 6, instead of as in reproduction 3 and 4) are in front of the lens or, if two lenses are used, in front of both lenses, and the main polarizers (now 3 and 4, instead of as in reproduction 6) are in front of the two Image windows assigned to partial images are attached.
