Contact protection device for electrical sockets. The known electrical sockets for flush and surface mounting have the disadvantage that when not in use, that is, when the plug is not connected, their contact sleeves are unprotected, so that they are accessible to needles, nails or even fingers, for example. Such unprotected contact sleeves therefore represent a serious source of danger for playing children.
Even in metal-processing factories, there is a great possibility that metallic dust, shavings or the like can get into the unprotected contact sleeves, contaminating the sockets and causing accidents as a result of short failures.
Attempts have been made to remedy these disadvantages by means of protective caps, which protective caps are rotatably mounted on the sockets, whereby recesses provided in their top surface can be brought onto or next to the holes of the contact sleeves, depending on whether the socket is in or out of loading - drive should be set. Such protective caps have the disadvantage that their assembly is quite complicated; Furthermore, the protective cap can only be used for surface-mounted sockets, but not for the more and more used flush-mounted sockets.
The subject of the present invention is a contact protection device for electrical sockets, characterized in that it consists of a cover part manufactured in electrical insulation material, in which the metal pins to be inserted into the contact sleeves of the sockets are set.
An example embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, namely: Fig. 1 is a view, Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section in the use position Ge.
The contact protection device consists of a cover part 1, which is made of an elec trically insulating material, such as, for example, glass, Bakelite or Galalith. To make it easier to pull the cover part 1 out of the socket 4, the former is provided with an edge bead 1 'which can have a corrugated surface on this. 33 metal pins 2 are inserted into this cover part.
These are longitudinally split, so that they have a certain adaptability in cross section when inserted into the contact sleeves 3 of a socket 4. The 3-metal pins ensure that a good seal is achieved so that no foreign bodies can penetrate the contact sleeves and their contact surfaces remain metallically pure.
So that the device is not lost when not in use and is always ready for use, the cover part 1 can be designed so that it can be attached to the wall by means of a cord.
The present contact protection device can be provided with two metal pins for two-pole or multi-pole sockets and the cover part 1 can be designed in such a way that all the holes in the contact sleeves are covered. However, aluminum pins could also be provided for all contact sleeves.
It is used as follows: If a socket is unused, i.e. if no plug is connected to it, then it is provided with the touch protection device in such a way that its metal pins are pushed into the contact sleeves so far that the cover part rests on the socket.
