lange Zündflam- men zu erzeugen.
Ignition device for gas lights and gas-heated apparatus. Gas self-igniters have already become known which are provided with ignition bodies which are self-activating in the gas flow and which cause ignition by wires extending from it.
In practice, however, it was not possible to introduce these gas self-igniters because, in order to be effective, they had to be placed directly in the vicinity of the body to be ignited, and their radiant heat severely limited their service life would have been.
The present invention makes it possible to use this self-igniting cast known per se with advantage.
The idea on which the invention is based is first of all to arrange this gas self-igniter relatively far away from the body to be ignited in order to allow one or more separately arranged pilot lights to come into effect, which are capable of larger openings ,
to generate long pilot lights. The use of the gas e-igniter requires that only a very low gas velocity and amount of gas is required in order to be able to make the ignition wire glow,
because at high speed and with a large amount of gas, the ignition seam would not glow at all due to the resulting cooling effect.
If, however, according to the invention, in addition to the well-known small supply line for the gas self-igniter, nozzles with larger outlet openings are also arranged in the vicinity, one also has the advantage of
(that the air in the gas line escapes more quickly and the ignition process occurs more quickly. The further advantage of attaching the separate ignition device,
As a result of the larger outlet opening with a long flame burning ignition tube, there is also the fact that this flame simultaneously causes a body to undergo a longitudinal expansion due to the heating that occurs, which serves to close the gas supply valve for the ignition device. This achieves
that the pilot flame only burns for the brief moment of ignition, thus saving gas.
It. It is also advantageous to use the catalyzed gas self-ignition: not only to arrange it at a great distance from the body to be ignited, but also to protect it from being destroyed by the poisoning components contained in the gas.
It has already been proposed to eliminate this poisoning destruction by adding chemical agents to the catalyst. The disadvantage arose that these chemicals are sufficiently heat-resistant and, due to the glowing of the catalyst, this addition became inactive.
In addition, the arrangement of the added Ra t> was intended too close to the incandescent body to be ignited, so that the service life of both substances was greatly reduced by the radiant heat.
These poisoning phenomena occur not only with the catalytic converter, but also the ignition wire itself is exposed to this risk. For example, the constituents and impurities contained in the Gaz # form layers which decompose and envelop the wire and prevent the escaping gas from coming into contact with the pure platinum wire.
The deficiencies that have so far been inherent in these catalytic ignition devices can be eliminated by supplying the catalytic ignition body with a gas that has been detoxified by anti-catalysts, which is branched off from the normal gas flow and before being passed to the catalyst and ignition wire by a detoxifying mass known type ge is directed, while the gas supplied to the actual ignition tube is the normal,
for combustion is gas.
The mass is arranged in two ways to protect against moisture between two moisture-absorbing layers, partly made of calcium chloride, or absorbent ceramic masses.
In this way it is achieved that an attack on both the catalyte and the ignition wire by poisoning components of the gas can no longer occur, so that greater operational reliability and a much longer service life than before can be achieved.
On the accompanying drawing, the subject of the invention is shown in an exemplary embodiment for a gas lamp in an exterior view.
The gas supply line 1 to the lamp and to the ignition device 2 is set in action by a remote igniter of known type. 1The nozzle 3 for the catalytic gas detonator? In contrast to the outlet opening of the actual ignition tube 4, it has a much smaller cross section.
If gas escapes from the nozzle 3 of the gas self-igniter, the ignition wire 5 is made to glow by the catalytic process known per se, causing the flame that is forming to ignite the gas emerging from the ignition tube 4 and, as a result of the large outlet opening, a Pilot flame of great length is generated.
This ignition flame then causes the incandescent bodies 6 to ignite and at the same time heats an elastic body i, which consists, for example, of sheets of minerals stacked on top of one another. As a result of the heating that occurs, this body i instantly experiences a longitudinal expansion ring, which has an effect
that through the valve rod 8 attached to the body, the valve 9 shuts off the gas supply to the ignition device. This goes out both. the ignition flame of the gas self-igniter as well as the ignition flame of the: ignition tube 4.
In order to prevent the catalytically active gas self-igniter from being destroyed by poisoning, the gas passes from the gas supply line 1 into a chamber 10, from which a partial flow intended for detoxification is branched off as a result, the chamber 10 is provided with a dividing wall 12 forming a Durahlass 11.
In the space 13 separated by the partition wall 12, two sieves 14 are arranged. The space 13 is filled with a mass which is known per se and which causes the detoxification of the gas. If the gas entering the chamber 13 from the chamber 10 passes through this mass, it is freed from the anti-catalytic converters and, in the detoxified state, passes through the ignition tube 3 to the ignition wire 5 of the catalyte 2.
The hole 16 provided in the bell jar 15 is used to supply fresh air and cooling. By supplying this detoxified gas, the operational safety and service life of the catalytic igniter is largely increased.
The incandescent bodies 6 are switched off in a known manner by the remote ignition device located in the lamp, which at the same time closes the gas supply to the ignition device. The expansion body 7 cools down and, by opening the valve 9, releases the gas path to the ignition device again for the next ignition.
