Control device on gas turbine systems working with constant pressure combustion with a compressor drive turbine and a turbine for the useful output, in particular for ship propulsion. In order to obtain the required work performance at a desired speed without excessive losses in gas turbine systems working with constant pressure combustion, it is well known that two gas turbines have to be used,
One of which drives the compressor (hereinafter referred to as compressor turbine for short) and the other drives the machine that is intended to drive it (hereinafter referred to as useful power turbine for short).
It is also known to use a power regulator to regulate the total power by changing the fuel supply and a second regulator to regulate the distribution of the power between the compressor turbine and the useful power turbine by at.
Load change the loading of a turbine is changed or .also, under certain circumstances, the inflowing propellant quantities to both turbines are changed .. Because of the small gradient that is processed in today's gas turbines and the relatively large propellant gas quantity primarily reaction turbines come into question,
so the specialist will try to make a choice between pure throttle control and step-by-step lockup.
In the present case, however, both types have serious disadvantages.
1. With pure throttle control, the turbine must be dimensioned for the largest gas volume (100% load). Partial loads are achieved by - the initial pressure is throttled so that the inlet volume corresponds to that for full load. The throttling reduces the heat gradient and the amount of gas passing through.
However, throttling is always associated with a large heat gradient and good efficiency is only possible at full load. Therefore. Almost all reaction steam turbines are now provided with an action regulating stage. In the case of gas turbines, the heat gradient is too small to be able to use an action regulation stage without a significant decrease in efficiency.
?. The step-by-step bridging is now generally used in pure reaction turbines (Ljungstrom turbines) in steam turbine construction. The turbine is designed for a partial load; Larger amounts of gas are achieved by bridging one or more of the first stages. This increases the ability to swallow. that the amount of gas required for 100% load can work in the non-bridged stages.
However, the bridged steps have to run idle and have a strong braking effect due to the ventilation losses.
In turbines, where the heat gradient is very small, such as Cxa turbines, the gas volumes are very large. The cross centers for the gas flow are also very large. In gas turbines, regulation by bridging one or more stages is associated with great structural difficulties because the bridging lines and the inlets and outlets of the bridging lines require an extremely large amount of space.
From a structural point of view, a step-by-step bridging is hardly possible with Gaeturbinen.
According to the invention, however, the power distribution between the compressor turbine and the useful power turbine is now regulated by rotatable guide vanes arranged at least in the former.
The advantages of this control device especially for this special case of such a gas turbine system for vehicle propulsion, eg. B. ship propulsion or similar requirements are that the turbine, as with throttle control, is built for the largest volume of gas used at the highest air intake temperature.
At loads of less than 100%, the rotating guide vanes also work exactly like the throttle control, only the throttling heat gradient in the guide vanes is used and there generates a high speed of entry for the rotor blades. This high entry speed is used here with a comparatively good degree of efficiency.
If the rotor blades are intended for axial entry under 100 loads, greater penetration speeds occur with smaller loads and the gas arrives in the rotor blades with a certain impact. The shock component occurs; as a stomach bump and will. as tests show, well used.
The proposed control device is therefore far superior to the Pros-selregeleinrichtiuig in terms of economy.
For structural reasons, it is also superior to the bridging control device, the application of which in gas turbines, as already mentioned above, hardly seems possible.
The drawing shows a Sehiff gas turbine system operating with constant pressure combustion with a control device according to the invention, for example. 1 is an air compressor of axial design, \? a Verhrennkammer, in the first purely forth the compression air and with the injection nozzle 3 injected the fuel who the.
After the combustion, the hot gases expand in a compressor turbine 4 and a power turbine 5 and flow through the exhaust pipes 5 and 7 to the atmosphere.
The amounts of grass should be distributed between the compressor turbine 4 and the power turbine 5 in such a way that the regulating device 12 does not have to set a higher gas temperature in order to obtain sufficient output for the compression than is just permitted for the blade material.
The mean gas temperature acts via a thermostat device 8 on an oil pressure regulator 9, which sets a pressure oil servomotor 10. The servomotor 10 rotates the guide vanes 11 of the compressor turbine in such a way that too high a gas temperature opens the guide vanes and a gas temperature that is too low closes them.
The guide vanes 11 and the turbine 4 are built for the largest amount of gas that is needed at the highest air intake temperature. When the air temperature is lower, the compression output decreases and so does the amount of gas required by the compressor turbine.
Since the output of the compressor turbine is initially unchanged, the turbine output would exceed the compressor output at a low intake temperature.
A lower gas temperature will therefore be set at the thermostat 8 because of the larger amount of air supplied. As mentioned above, the temperature decrease acts via controller J and servo motor 10 on the guide vanes 1f1 so that these are somewhat closed, i.e. allow fewer propellant gases and thus increase the gradient in the guide vanes 11. The entry speed in the first row of blades increases.
In the turbine, which is built for axial inflow into the rotor blades with a maximum guide vane position, a so-called abdominal shock occurs in the first rotor blade row with smaller gas quantities and Lest blade positions. Because the abdominal shock is associated with a relatively small loss, this flow control with rotating guide vanes uses the existing heat gradient significantly better than a throttle control and is structurally superior to the bridging control in gas turbines.
It may be useful to also run the utility power turbine with a control device. In the drawing, this is shown as a simple throttle valve 1.3, moved by a power piston, but a device with rotatable guide vanes can just as well come into consideration here.
The power of the turbine 4 can be set by a gas flow or heat gradient control. If you want to drive with a constant heat gradient, the pressure and temperature in front of the turbine must be kept constant. This would require an approximately constant compressor speed., Number.
With such an arrangement, the efficiency would be very poor at part load, because the required compression power would have to be almost as great as at full load. If the power requirement on the propeller shaft is changed, both the power turbine and the compressor turbine will work with full admission without throttling,
which is particularly advantageous when driving fluid-flow machines with variable speeds, since the Parsons number then remains almost constant regardless of the load.
The power to be delivered to the propeller shaft thus primarily determines the compressor speed and the combustion chamber pressure. In order to increase the compressor speed, the compressor turbine output must temporarily outweigh the compressor output.
This temporary increase in performance can be achieved by increasing the gas temperature for a short time, which is already permitted with regard to the blade strength, because the mean continuous temperature is decisive for the creep strength and momentary changes in temperature with changes in load hardly influence this strength limit.
In the drawing, 8 is the previously mentioned thermostat device, which adjusts the amount of fuel in a certain ratio to the amount of air and thereby the gas temperature via the pressure regulator 12, the line 14 and the servomotor 115 (far right in the figure) keeps constant.
The setting power regulator 16 of the power turbine regulates the oil pressure in the line 17 and thereby acts on an adjusting piston 17a between the thermostat and the oil pressure regulator 12. With the power regulator 16, the amount of fuel and thus the gas temperature can be temporarily increased or decreased.
The change in the gas temperature leads to a change in the compressor speed, which causes a change in pressure and thus a change in power output. The power regulator 16 acts through the regulating devices 17a, 12, 15 through temporary changes in the gas temperature on the compressor speed and the combustion chamber pressure and thus regulates the useful power.
18 is an overflow valve, 19 a limit speed regulator, 20, 211 release link devices of the usual type. The power turbine 5 drives the propeller 23 via a gear 22. 24 is a starting motor for group 1 .. 4; the oil pump 25 supplies all oil lines. 2.6 are throttling points in the oil lines.
