Planetary change gear on freewheel hubs with coaster brake. The invention relates to a planetary change gearbox for freewheeling hubs with coaster brake and consists in that the drive head serving as a carrier for the planetary gears of the gearbox is designed as a spherical cone for mounting the planetary housing.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of a two-speed transmission subsequently built into a freewheeling area with a coaster brake is shown partially in section.
The fixed axle 5 carries the bearing parts 16 and 17 screwed onto it, as well as the longitudinally displaceable gear 4. The planetary housing 1 formed as a sprocket is made in one piece with the internal gear 18 driving the planetary gears 3. 19 represents the combined hub drive head and planet. wheel carrier.
It is essential for the construction that the hub does not have any significant widening compared to a freewheel hub with a coaster brake without a gearbox so that it can be accommodated in the rear fork.
The restricted construction width is essentially achieved in that the ring gear 2 on the housing 1 encloses the planetary gear and falls within the outer limiting face 6 of the planetary gears 3, and that the drive head 19 with the planetary gear carrier is also expedient Ball bearing cone 7 made of one piece for mounting the planetary housing 1 is arranged within said boundary plane 6. With this construction, a widening of the hub is limited to just a few millimeters, so that the installation is not made more difficult.
The connection of the change gear to the original freewheel hub with coaster brake is done, for example, in the following way: After replacing the axis of the freewheel hub with the somewhat longer axis 5 provided with the corresponding holes, the drive head of the hub is removed and the drive head 19, which also serves as a planetary gear carrier, is removed used and connected to the change gear, wherein the planetary housing 1 with gear 2 is pushed over the planet gears 3.
The mode of operation of the transmission is essentially known. In the case of direct gear, the gear 4 is pushed towards the center of the hub and it engages in the internal gear coupling part 20, which is firmly connected to the planet gear carrier 19. As a result, the internally toothed housing 1 with the planetary gear carrier 19 and the planetary gears, which only play the role of entrainers without rotating around their own axis, form a rigid whole, with the internal gear 4 running freely on the axis 5 . By shifting this internal gear to the outside, it arrives as a result of a grip in the internal teeth 21 in rigid connection with the axis 5.
The planet wheels now roll on the inner tooth wreath 18 on the one hand and the wheel 4 on the other hand and take by means of their axes and the planet carrier 19 the hub and thus the wheel at a speed reduced by as much as the ratio of the diameter of the individual Corresponds to gears of the planetary gear.
The planetary change gears previously used on bicycles were mainly housed in the rear wheel hub of the bicycles and were inextricably linked to the freewheel mechanism. The subsequent installation of such a gearbox in an existing freewheel hub with a coaster brake was therefore not possible,
Rather, the freewheel hub with the back-pedal brake had to be removed first and then the double or multiple transmission hub, which also contained the freewheel and back-pedal braking components, had to be inserted, with the spokes of the rear wheel having to be reclamped onto these. Attempting to subsequently connect such a gear by screwing or other connection on the existing drive head laterally to the hub, the resulting broadening of the construction with the difficulty of un placement in the given rear fork and incorrect chain run counteracted.
The invention enables the subsequent installation of the planetary change gearbox in a freewheel hub with a coaster brake without significantly widening the construction, whereby a spoke loop can be avoided and correct situation is ensured.
