Es ist zum Beispiel auf Grund bekannter physikochemischer Betrachtungen festgestellt worden, dass Druck die Spaltreaktion verzi>- c-,ert und die Polymerisationsreaktion @eriün- st.igt. Anderseits wirkt eine Tempera.turstei- 0;erunb fördernd auf die Spaltung und inner halb gewisser Grenzen hindernd auf die Polymerisation;
Es erschien jedoch nlöbliell, de ,i wirksamen. Druck, d. h.
115 in Dampfform.

Process for the production of low-viscosity hydrocarbons. The present invention relates to the already known production of lightly liquid carbons by splitting higher hydrocarbons.
All methods of cracking, especially cracking at temperatures above 480 C (900 F), generate gas that is problematic for industry to make useful. The amount of gas generated increases, while the time remains the same, with a slight increase in the splitting temperature and also depends on the efficiency with which the splitting or conversion process is carried out.
There have been proposals made to make this gas, sometimes referred to as useful, by subjecting it to polymerize conditions for the purpose of producing and obtaining liquid compounds having a high octane number.
In a type of conversion known in the art as the TVP process, the conversion is brought about by the action of a hot heat carrier gas of high specific heat which is mixed with the hydrocarbon vapors to be converted.
In this case, the gases generated by the cleavage reaction mix with the heat carrier gas. Part of this gas is then returned to the circuit and subjected to heating again and mixed with the vapors to be converted.
Even if a certain polymerization occurs during the heating-up stage and the polymerized product is added to the motor fuel obtained, the yield is not great.
The present invention now aims to increase the yield of polymerized products in this type of process, regardless of an increase in the amount of gas generated in the cleavage or conversion reaction.
(The formation of gas in the TVP process is normally small, and it is usually not desirable to increase this amount by increasing the cracking temperature, although this is possible under exceptional circumstances.
as they may be necessary when splitting an extremely viscous oil or when producing a gasoline with a very high octane value.) The process according to the invention accordingly relates to the production of low-viscosity hydrocarbons by splitting higher hydrocarbons above 80 C,
the latter in vapor form mixed with a heat carrier gas -being brought into the cracking zone, whereupon the mixture of hydrocarbons and gas is subjected to a condensate for the purpose of separating liquid products, including those boiling within the boiling range of gasoline, and is thereby marked @ that. the remaining,
With vapors of fractions with a boiling point below the boiling range of gasoline are the mixed gas up to a pressure which is the separation of a vaporous gas. aal above the boiling point of full ethane-boiling products promotes a rich fraction, and that the rich fraction is then separated from the compressed gas by means of absorption and polymerized.
On the basis of the study of the factors. which master the conversion of oils in the TVP system, and the conditions that are decisive for the polymerisation, the following can be determined:
For example, on the basis of known physicochemical considerations, it has been established that pressure delays the cleavage reaction and enhances the polymerization reaction. On the other hand, a temperature increase has a positive effect on the cleavage and, within certain limits, prevents the polymerization;
especially when catalysts and high pressures are used, a relatively low temperature can be used to effect the polymerization.
In attempting to apply these considerations to the TVP decay of the conversion, the difficulty arises that it is practically impossible to increase the pressure n-specifically above that commonly used in the art, i. H. 3.5 to 11.5 l:
g'em2 (50 to 151_1 eli, \ lishe pounds per square inch), and that it is also not possible to give the gas lower temperatures than are necessary for the main reaction of the fission, i.e. i.e. 510 to 565 C (i) 50 to 1050 F) or above. However, it seemed essential that it was effective. Pressure, d. H.
to increase the effective partial pressure of the compounds to be polymerized, without increasing the pressure of the entire system, by breaking up the gas generated in the system into a non-polymerizable fraction (-which mainly consists of hydrogen, methane and Xtlia.n exists) and a polymerizable fraction,
which essentially contains the C., - Konipons and the proportions with high molecular weight. The polymerisable fraction rich in these compounds can then be subjected to the polymerisation to obtain liquid products with a high ocfan value. When separating the rich gas from your poor ("lean") gas after the extraction of the gasoline fractions, it is necessary to
Increase the pressure of the mixture, suitably up to at least 10.5 kg (150 pounds) and preferably up to 1 hbem (300 pounds) or higher. whereupon the compressed gas can be cooled and the light vapors stripped off in an all-soi-ptioilsvorriclituil-.
After splitting the gas into a rich and a poor fraction. one can proceed as follows: The poor gas can be recirculated and used as a heat carrier gas in the usual way, while the rich fraction can be passed into a special polymerizing device and polymerized there.
After the polymerization, the polymerized vapors can be condensed, and the remaining gas, with which light vapors are mixed in a certain amount. those that have not suffered condensation can then be fed into the same absorption device that was used to carry out the first separation between rich and poor gases. In this way the light vapors from the polymerisation stage are recovered.
However, it is also possible to use the rich fraction as a heat carrier gas. In this way of working, the rich, i.e. H. the fraction containing the heavier constituents, passed into a gas heater in order to be brought there to a temperature which is necessary to make the fraction useful as a heat inert gas for the main cracking reaction.
By separating off the non-polymerisable components, the effective or partial pressures of the polymerisable compounds are greatly increased so that the gas can be heated at moderate pressure, @d. H. up to 21 kg / cm '(300 pounds per square inch), results in significant amounts of polymerized products. The lean gas produced can be discharged from the system.
However, it may be desirable to return some of the lean gas to the fission chamber, where it acts as an additional heat carrier.
It is expedient to add this gas to the vapors to be cleaved before the superheater is flowed, so that both the gas and the vapors are heated in the same unit, while the polymerizable gas is heated separately and thereby the effective partial pressure of the polymerizable gas as long as it does not mix with the lean gas is not decreased.
If one has now recovered the polymerizable fractions, one can proceed in such a way that these are added to the starting material, whereby a higher overall yield of cleaved product is achieved.
For a more detailed explanation, the procedure is renown below. with the aid of the drawing, which schematically shows exemplary embodiments:
In Fig. 1, 10 denotes a heater net. in which the hydrocarbon vapors to be subjected to conversion, mixed with edema, poor heat carrier gas, to a temperature within the desired conversion range, i.e. '510 to 565 C (950 to <B> 10) 510' </B> F) or higher, 'who heats the.
However, the heating is carried out so rapidly that there is no time in the heater itself for the reaction to occur to any appreciable extent.
The mixture is passed from the heater through the line 11 into a reaction or suction chamber 21. Before that, the 0.1 to be converted, which is fed through the pipe 13, is heated by heating in the pipe coil 14 until it evaporates and. In the vapor separator ("flash drum")
115 in vapor form. convicted. In order to support this evaporation, the heat carrier gas can be mixed with the vapors by introducing it into the vapor separator 15.
The mixture of steam and gas leaves the steam separator 15 through the pipe 16, through which it is fed to the heater 1.0.
After the vapors have completed the conversion with the support of the thermal units contained in the mixed gays in the desired mass in the reaction chamber 21, they are withdrawn through the pipe 2.2 and transferred into the fractionation device 2.3. Here the vapors are subjected to fractional condensation.
The condensed fractions comprise a heavy residue which is withdrawn through pipe 24 and a lighter fraction, such as from the boiling range of the gas oil, which is withdrawn through pipe 26, cooled in heat exchanger 27 and returned through pipe 28 to the fractionator. A part of this fraction can also be drawn off through the pipe 30 and fed to the evaporator 14.
Top products leave the fractionation device 23 through the pipe 32 and are cooled and condensed in the condenser 33, whereby almost all products in the boiling range of the gasoline that are collected in the collecting vessel 34 can be separated. mean fraction is by the pump 3 # _)
and through (read tube U as a winding flow into column 23. The remaining uncondensed products, which consist of the gas and various light vapors formed during the conversion, are then compressed in the compressor 40. under one pressure.
which enables stripping of the Tiber (1f - m boiling point of ethane boiling products in the absorption device 41; this pressure is preferably between about 10.5 and 21 kg @ cm \ (150 to 3 () 0 pounds per Square inches) or higher ... The compressed products are cooled in the cooler 41, the liquid portion is collected in the container 42.
The cooled, compressed gas then passes through (read pipe 43 into the absorption device 44, through which a suitable absorption medium, such as heavy gasoline distillate, is circulated. Which enters through line 46cr, while the enriched oil flows off through pipe 47.
This tube 47 leads the enriched medium under pressure into the bladder 48, which acts as a stabilizer and releases the light absorbed gases and vapors, such as hydrogen, lletlia, ethane, etc., in gaseous form, while essentially all C3 hydrocarbons and the heavier fractions were left in the liquid residue or as the partially stripped medium.
This residue then flows through the pipe 49 into the distillation device 50, which is operated at a slightly higher temperature and / or lower pressure, so that the remaining products, such as propane, propene, betane, butene, taken up in the absorption device 44 , Pentane, pentenes etc., expelled @ verden,
the vapors of which are now passed through the pipe 51 either directly into the polymerisation device 52 or first through the compressor 5, through which the pressure is increased even further.
The rich fractions undergo polymerization in the polymerization device 5 2, and the polymerized vapors pass from here

One advantage of the working method described is that the gas recirculated as a heat carrier has a higher specific heat than the heavier fractions removed; In addition, the poorer gas contains practically no components that can be split by heat at the temperatures that come into consideration, which means that work interruptions caused by soiling the pipes of the heater are reduced to a minimum.
In Fig. 2, 10 denotes a heater in which a portion rich in polymerizable and below to be described in more detail gas is heated under the polymerization-promoting conditions. The so heated.
Vapors get from: the heater: through the pipe 11, which contains a pressure reducing valve 11a, into the mixing chamber 12 :. At the same time convertible 41 is introduced through the pipe 1.3, in the pipe coil 14 it heats up to boiling and evaporates in the steam separator (flat drum) 1-5.
To support the evaporation, gas from a source to be written through the pipe 16 in the vapor separator: he 15 can be introduced. The mixture of steam and gas flows through pipe 1.81 and is in the pipe coil 19 to a temperature: just below the initial spa.Ittempera.tur, d. H. about 510 to 565 C (950 to 10:50 F) or higher;
overheated. The heated mixture leaves the pipe coil 19: through the pipe 20, in which it is fed to the mixing chamber 12. After mixing with breath coming from the coil 10, heated gas in the chamber 12 flows the mixture: <B> through </B> the reaction space 21, in which the opportunity is given for the conversion reaction to proceed to the desired degree.
The steam from the evaporator 14 is split into lighter products in its space, which are compounds that boil in the boiling area of gasoline, and also various compounds of lower boiling points including gases such as ethane, Methane and hydrogen. After the reaction up to:
the desired: degree has expired, the products are drawn off from the chamber 211 through the pipe 2'2 and: fed to a fractionation device 23 in which they are subjected to a fractional condensation.
The condensed fractions include: the heavy residue withdrawn through the pipe 24 and: a lighter portion of approximately the boiling point: of the gas oil, which is: withdrawn through the pipe 26, cooled in the heat exchanger 27 and returned through: the pipe 28. A part of this fraction can also be withdrawn through the pipe 30 and: the evaporator 14 are fed.
Head products leave the fractionation device 23 through the pipe 32; They are cooled and condensed in the condenser 33 so that almost all of the products boiling within the boiling range of the gasoline can be separated off, which are collected in the collecting vessel 34 and partly through the Pump 35 and: are returned to column 2: 3 through pipe 36 as reverse reflux.
The remaining uncondensed products, which consist of gas and various light vapors, are then compressed by means of the compressor 40 to a pressure which enables substances boiling above the boiling point of ethane in the absorption device 44 and preferably at 10.5 to 2-1 kg / cm '(150 to 300 pounds per square inch) or higher.

However, this does not result in any operational difficulties, since it is only necessary in the line 11 that leads from the heater 10 to the mixing chamber 1'2, a pressure reducing valve,
such as 11a to be provided. If desired, catalysts can be used in the polymerization apparatus 10 in a manner known per se.
The total amount of gaseous products mixed with the steam to be converted can vary within wide limits. Very satisfactory results have been obtained using gas in an amount equal to one quarter to two times the weight of oil.
In: the usual TVP = system, in which chemical stabilizers are used for the motor fuel produced, there are a number of conditions which can lead to a stripping of polymerizable fractions from the system, so that the poor Gas, which serves as a heat carrier, becomes poorer, while in the present) system the a <U> rm </U> e gas is kept separated from the polymerizable gas, so that,
the latter can be subjected to polymerization under the most favorable conditions.
Of course, the inventive concept of the present method can also be implemented with the introduction of various changes in the embodiments given for explanation purposes only.
