Weatherproof paint surface coating and method of making the same. Experience has shown that paint and varnish coatings fade relatively more or less quickly outdoors; the appearance is thereby inferior and the durability is reduced. This process can be described as chalking off the paint film; in the beginning only the top layer is chalked, but always reaches deeper. Furthermore, the color film becomes hygroscopic and absorbs a lot of water in damp weather.
The present invention now relates to a weatherproof colored surface coating and a method for producing the same. The colored areas can be, for example, wood and ironworks, blinds, window frames, garden fences, company signs, etc. The colored surface coating is characterized by the fact that the colored surface is provided with a cover made of transparent resin material. The colored surface coating according to the invention is produced in such a way that a film-like layer of synthetic resin is applied to the colored surfaces.
Example: A company sign or a billboard made of wood or metal that has been painted is first thoroughly cleaned in a washing process. After drying, liquefied synthetic resin is applied to the color-coated surface in one operation, for example with a brush or spray gun, so that a film-like coating that acts as weather protection is formed. This protects the paint from chalking or fading. The liquefied resin can be slightly colored.
The resin used is clear, transparent and weatherproof, it can be a natural or artificial resin. The liquid resin can be mixed with a suitable solution.
Metal and wooden objects of all kinds painted in color, also white and very lightly painted, which are exposed to the fading process outdoors due to the unfavorable weather, can be made resistant using the method described.
Damaged areas do not need to be coated with the normal coats of paint as before, it is sufficient to pre-soak the areas with an oil-free primer, then to touch up with pure dye in the thinnest consistency and then to make them weatherproof. Apply the coating of the liquid resin.
If a new color is required, the surfaces are recolored in one operation after cleaning, whereby the new color does not form a thick, granular layer, but can be applied in the most liquid form. The titanium white paints that used to be chalked as oil paints can be used in this way, in that the subsequent, weatherproof resin coating will reduce chalking.
For recoloring or re-dyeing with or. Unpainted surfaces made of wood or metal, such as a wooden panel, are soaked in a liquid containing or oil-free linseed oil and then colored with a dye that is bound with a binder. The weatherproof synthetic resin coating is then applied as described above.
If metal surfaces are rusty, an anti-rust agent is used instead of an oil or oil-free primer.
