Diese Drosselspule weist meh rere Anzapfpunkte <I>a, b, c, d, e, f, g</I> auf.
System with an electric discharge tube. The invention relates to a system with a gas-filled, for example serving for light emission, provided with a hot cathode, electrical Ent charge tube whose heating current is supplied by a transformer. A choke coil is connected in series with the discharge tube and said transformer is fed from the same power source as the discharge tube.
This power source can for example consist of an alternating current network of 220 V. It often happens that the voltage of an alternating current network deviates from this value. The voltage can also be 200, 240 or 260 V, for example.
In order to make the system suitable for connection to networks of different voltages, for example from 200 to 260 V, the inductor and the primary winding of the heating current for the glow electrode can bezw. -electrodes supplying transformer are known to be provided with taps, so that at a certain voltage of the supply current source, the choke coil can be set in such a way that the discharge tube by flowing current it maintains its normal value,
while at the same time the primary winding of said transformer can be adjusted in such a way that a heating current of the desired strength is generated. This setting of the reactor and the transformer is often cumbersome because they can be located in different places.
In street lighting systems, the heating current transformer is usually arranged near the discharge tube, i.e. in the fitting high above the floor, while the choke coil is located in the lower part of a lamp post or in a junction box located a short distance from the floor can be accommodated.
With the system according to the invention, these inconveniences are considerably reduced. With this plant is. made the choke coil adjustable and provided with taps for this purpose, while the primary winding of the stimulation current transformer is connected to the choke coil,
that part of the choke coil can also be switched on in the pulp formed by this primary winding and the current source. The choke coil can therefore also work as an economy transformer.
The voltage supplied to the primary winding of the transformer consists in this case of the sum of the voltage of the supply current source and the voltage that is generated in that part of the choke coil that is in the circuit formed by the current source and the primary transformer winding.
The ratios can easily be selected in such a way that at different voltages of the supply current source, i.e. at different values of the part of the choke coil connected in series with the discharge tube (this part is determined by the desired normal current intensity of the discharge tube, which is the primary winding of the Ileiz- stromtxansformators imposed voltage is constant or within permissible limits.
the circuit formed by the power source and the primary transformer winding can be adjusted in such a way that the desired voltage for the heating current transformer is obtained.
If the voltage of the supply current source corresponds exactly to the voltage for which the heating current transformer is to be measured, this inductor part is reduced to zero. When setting for a certain voltage of the power source only one or two connections of the choke coil have to be changed, while the heating current transformer can remain completely unchanged.
The drawing illustrates two exemplary embodiments from the subject of the invention.
The electrical discharge tube 1 shown in the figures and used to emit light can be, for example, a sodium vapor lamp. The tube, which has a positive Säulenent charge during operation, is provided with two glow electrodes 2 and 3, which are connected to the secondary windings 4 and 4 respectively. 5 of a heating current transformer 6 are connected, the primary winding of which is denoted by 7.
One of the ends of this winding 7 is directly connected to the glow electrode 3 and the terminal 8 of an alternating current source 9 which, for example, consists of a low-voltage alternating current network. The glow electrode 2 is connected to the end 14 of a choke coil 10 which is in series with the discharge tube 1. This choke coil has several tapping points <I> a, b, c, d, e, f, g </I>.
One of these tapping points is connected through the conductor 11 to the terminal 12 of the power source 9, while the primary transformer winding 7 is connected by means of the conductor 13 to one of the tapping points of the choke coil.
Assuming the case that you want to make the system suitable for connection to alternating current networks from 2.00 to 2i60 V, and that the voltage of the power source is 260 V, then the conductor 11 with such a tap point I of the choke coil, Example associated with point d, that the current flowing through the discharge tube 1 has its normal strength.
The transformer 6 can now be dimensioned so that the desired heating current is obtained when the voltage supplied to the primary winding 7 is 260 V. The conductor 13 is then also connected to the tap point d in the present case by the voltage of the power source being 260 V be.
If the system is to be fed from a network with a low voltage, for example 230 V, the part of the choke coil in series with the discharge tube is reduced in size so that the current flowing through the discharge tube returns to its normal value. For this purpose, the conductor 11 is connected to another tapping point, for example to point c.
The conductor 13 is connected to such a tap, for example to the point e, -that the sum of the voltage of the power source 9 and the voltage in the inductor part lying between the two connection points of the conductors 11 and 13 to the inductor is reduced, is 260 V.
In this way, the connections to the choke coil can be selected for each voltage of the current source 9; that not only does the current flowing through the discharge tube maintain its normal value, but also that a voltage of 260 V is supplied to the primary winding 7. In this way a generally applicable device is obtained in which the heating current transformer can remain completely unchanged and only the choke coil connections have to be changed.
The heating current transformer can also be built for other voltages. It may be advisable to choose the voltage of this transformer in the middle of the voltage range for which the system is to be suitable. If this range is 200 to 260 V, for example, then: A transformer voltage of 230 V can be selected. If in this case the voltage of the power source is 230 V, then the conductors 11 and 13 are connected to the same tapping point.
At a lower resp. higher voltage of the power source, the conductor 11 is connected to a tap which is less far BEZW. is further away from the choke coil end 14, while the conductor 13 is connected to a tap ver, the further BEZW. is less far from the end 14.
In many cases it is permissible to permanently connect the conductor 1.3 to a certain point of the choke coil. For example, in Fig. 2, the conductor 13 is permanently verbun to the end 15 of the choke coil. If one assumes, for example, that in this case the voltage range of the power source is again 200 to 2160 V and that the transformer 6 is built for a primary voltage of 260 V, then at a voltage of the power source 9 of 260 V both the conductor 11, as well as the conductor 13 connected to the end 15 of the choke coil.
This choke coil is again dimensioned such that the discharge current has its normal value in this case. At a voltage of the power source 9 of 200 V, the conductor 11 is connected to the tapping point a which is closest to the choke coil end 14 and which has been selected such that: the discharge current has its normal value in this case too. The voltage imposed on the primary winding of the transformer 6 is now slightly lower than the normal transformer voltage of 260 V.
In order to determine the voltage imposed on the primary winding 7, the following simplified calculation example is given: With an operating voltage of the discharge tube of 8.0 V, with a mains voltage of 260 V, that consumed by the choke coil Voltage (which is 90 shifted in phase with respect to the operating voltage) be. At a

The voltage difference between these ends of the reactor is in this case

while the .der primary winding 7 imposed voltage

amounts. This voltage is fed to the transformer when: the discharge tube burns. In a voltage range of the power source 9 from 200 to 260 V, the primary transformer winding 7 is supplied with a voltage of 227 to 260 V during normal operation.
It can be found in the same way that if the heating current transformer is rated for 230 V, the voltage applied during normal operation will fluctuate between 214 and 244 volts. These fluctuations in the transformer voltage are in many cases satisfactory and the advantage is obtained
that only the connection of the conductor 11 to the choke coil needs to be changed.
2 also shows that the heating current transformer has a special winding 16 which is connected on the one hand to the winding 7 and on the other hand possibly via a high resistance with an auxiliary electrode 17 located on the outside of the tube. This winding 16 and the auxiliary electrode 17 facilitate the ignition of the discharge tube.
The system according to the invention is not only applicable if they are suitable for various voltages of the supply source. must, but also if it has to be connected to different AC sources with different frequencies. Where a gas filling is mentioned in this description or in the patent claim,
This is to be understood as meaning not only a filling consisting of gas, but also a filling consisting of steam or a mixture of gas and steam.
