Device for preventing motor vehicles from skidding. The invention relates to a device for preventing the skidding of motor vehicles, -which has a certain support body to keep the vehicle on the ground. It consists in the fact that the support body is provided with a bead protruding against the vehicle wheel and is attached to a lever mounted on the chassis so that it can be swiveled up and down, such that it rests against the wheel tire during use and is pressed against the ground by it becomes. The support body can terminate in one or more cutting edges directed towards the floor.
However, it can also be connected to a steel wire brush on the part directed towards the ground or it can be provided with teeth which are intended to intervene in the ice on black ice. The support body is expediently provided with an abutment plate in order to be more stable. It is also advantageous if the lever is gelenld as far as possible in front of the wheel on the frame and is under the action of a spring which seeks to push the support body against the wheel and the ground. Of course, it must be ensured that the support body itself is secured against tilting.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject matter of the invention is Darge, namely shows: Fig. 1 is a view of the device, seen from the inside against the wheel, Fig. 2 is a plan view, Fig. 3 is a front view with the support body in section, and 4 shows a cross-section of the support body on a larger scale.
As far as possible in front of the rear wheel, a tubular steel lever a is hinged to the chassis by means of a horizontal bolt b, at the free end of which the support body e is attached so that it touches the roadway along its entire length when in use. As can be seen in particular from FIG. 4, the support body is provided with a bead projecting towards the wheel, inclined at an acute angle to the roadway on the sole and formed into a cutting edge at the edge closer to the roadway.
The support body is rigidly connected to the lever a in order to be secured against tilting .. It is provided in the middle with an abutment plate d for the wheel tire, which prevents the lateral overrun of the support body. A compression spring e connected between the lever a and the frame is used to press the support body in the position of use against the inside of the wheel and against the roadway. The device can be set in and out of action by a cable f to be operated from the driver's seat. An identical support body is provided for the other rear wheel.
The device works as follows: During the journey, the support bodies are raised. In case of danger, they are lowered and put against the pneumatic tires. If skidding or sliding sideways now occurs to one side, the support body opposite the endangered side comes into effect. This is because it is clamped a little under the tire at the bead and thus pressed with the cutting edge against the ferry track. In this way, the wheel is held in the running direction as if by a track.
The support body can be permanently or detachably connected to the lever and instead of a cutting edge with several cutting edges, with a steel wire brush or with toothed rails to engage in the ice, or similar devices.
It is important that the wheel tire itself causes the support body to be pressed into the road surface when it is skid, which is made possible by the peculiar design of the support body. This should also provide good protection against skidding on concrete and similar smooth, hard roads.
