Switch with arc extinguishing by a flowing gas. The invention relates to a switch with arc quenching by a flowing gas. In the present case, the term gas is not only understood to mean perfect gases, but also imperfect gases and vapors, as well as gas mixtures.
Gases that are particularly suitable for extinguishing arcs due to their high thermal conductivity and diffusivity are, for example, noble gases such as helium, neon, argon, etc., as well as hydrogen and other gases, which are basic chemical elements. Mixtures of these gases can also be used. When mixing hydrogen with another gas, the hydrogen is advantageously made incombustible. Furthermore, other gases with a high hydrogen content can also be used for the switch according to the invention, for example luminous gas, methane, etc. The examples given show that most of these extinguishing agents are very valuable.
The operation of a switch is therefore expensive if new extinguishing agent has to be procured for it, which escapes into the open after use and is lost.
With many gases, for example hydrogen, nitrogen and the noble gases mentioned above, and also with some vapors, for example mercury vapor, the extinguishing properties are essentially not influenced by the arc. Therefore, in the switch according to the invention, the above-mentioned disadvantages are avoided in that the same amount of a gas, the extinguishing property of which is essentially not changed by the arc, is used repeatedly to extinguish arcs.
In the drawing Ausführungsbei are shown games of the invention.
In Fig. 1, the low-pressure container is marked with 10 and the high-pressure container with 11 be. The container and thus the dimensions of the entire switch can be kept small if the amount of gas is essentially not greater than that which is sufficient to extinguish an arc. The switch can be constructed so that the amount of gas circulates in a circle. For this purpose, the interruption path is arranged in a switching tube 17 between the containers 10 and 11, and the amount of gas flowing into the low pressure container 10 when the high pressure container 11 is switched off is returned to the high pressure container 11 by means of a compressor 26.
The switching tube 17 consists of insulating material and is arranged to be exchangeable. It is connected to the pressure vessels 11 and 10 via the connecting pipes 1.5 and 16. These two containers are attached to a base 14 by means of insulators 12 and 13. In the tube 15 a solid contact piece 18 formed as a hollow nozzle contact is inserted. In the tube 16 there is a piston 19 on which the switch pin-shaped movable switching piece 20 is attached. The part of the tube 16 which extends into the low-pressure container 10 has lateral openings 21, 22.
At the bottom, the tube 16 is closed by a cover 23. On the tube 16, a switch-on coil 24 is pushed between its fastening flange and the container 10. 25 is an opening coil which is located in the low-pressure tank at the lower end of the tube 16.
It is of particular importance that all parts of the switch are sealed gas-tight from the outside area. In order not to jeopardize the gas-tight seal of the switch, the compressor 26 with its drive motor 27 is installed in the low-pressure container 10 or in a space that is connected to it from the outside. In order to prevent the gradual penetration of air even with a good, gas-tight seal, the pressure in the low-pressure part of the switch, i.e. in the low-pressure container and in the switching tube, is greater than the air pressure in the outside space.
Leaks in the switch are indicated to the operator by a fragrance that is added to the gas.
The compressor 26 draws in from the low-pressure container 10. The compressor is connected to the high-pressure vessel 11 by a line 28 which is formed in part from the hollow insulators 12 and 13.
When switching off the valve 29 located in the tube 15 is opened, which closes the high-pressure container against the switching tube 17.
At the same time, when the valve 29 is opened, the circuit of the opening coil 25 is closed, so that the piston 19 of the switching pin 20 is moved downwards until it hits the cover 23 of the tube 19. Since the switching pin 20 is pulled out of the hollow contact piece 18. The gas flows through the hollow contact piece into the switching tube 17, and as soon as the piston 19 has released the lateral openings 21 and 22 of the tube 16, it flows out of the tube 16 into the low-pressure container. The extinguishing agent expands and extinguishes the arc drawn when the contact pieces were disconnected.
If the ratios are chosen correctly, the arcs of small currents up to the order of magnitude of the nominal current are already extinguished before the piston 19 releases the side openings of the tube 16 for the extinguishing agent to flow into the switching tube into the low-pressure container. To extinguish small arcs, the flow of the extinguishing agent in the switching tube is sufficient, which takes place when the space in the switching tube is increased by the moving piston, and no overvoltages are generated, since the strength of the flow is in the correct ratio to the strength of the the arc to be extinguished.
In order to achieve effective extinguishing of large arcs, a certain pressure level in the high-pressure container and appropriate dimensioning of the low-pressure container ensure that the ratio of the pressures in both containers is above the critical pressure ratio during the entire extinguishing process.
When the pressure difference between the high-pressure container 11 and the low-pressure container 10 decreases, a pressure control switch (not shown in particular) that switches the drive motor 27 of the compressor 36 on. The compressor pumps the gas back through the pipe 28 into the high-pressure container 11, which is closed again from the switching tube and the low-pressure container by the valve 29. When switching on, the switch-on coil 24 is excited and moves the actuating piston 19 upwards, the switching pin 20 being pushed back into the hollow switching piece 18.
In Fig. 2, the high pressure container 11 is built into the low pressure container 1.0, so that the high pressure container is particularly protected ge. The tube 15, which is sensitive to the high pressure vessel, is passed through the wall of the low pressure vessel 10. The tube 15 carries a hollow insulator 30 on which an elbow 31 is attached. 32 is a hollow insulator attached to the Niederdruckbehä, lter 10, on which an elbow 33 is fastened. The switching tube 17, which consists of insulating material and surrounds the interruption path of the switch, is arranged between the knee pieces. The hollow, stationary contact piece 18 is located in the knee piece 33.
The knee piece 31 forms a cylinder 34 for the actuating piston 19 of the switching pin 20. 24 is the closing coil.
At the. Switching off the valve 29 arranged in the pipe 15 is opened. The ge tensioned extinguishing agent then enters the switching tube 17 from the high-pressure container 11 and pushes the actuating piston 19 of the switching pin 20 to the left as far as the end of the cylinder 34. The switching pin 20 is pulled out of the hollow contact piece 7 8, and the gas flows then with simultaneous relaxation through the hollow contact piece 18, the arc extinguishes and passes through the wide knee piece 33 and the wide insulator 32 into the low-pressure container 10.
A dome 35 in which the compressor -26 and its drive motor 27 are installed is arranged on the low-pressure tank. From the compressor 26, the pressure line 28 leads into the high-pressure container 11, the end of which, as in FIG. 1, is closed by a check valve 36. Switching on takes place as with the switch according to FIG. 1, because the switch-on coil 24 is excited, the piston 19 being moved to the right as far as a stop 37. The switching pin 20 is pushed into the hollow contact 18.
In order to replace the part of the enclosed gas that is lost due to leaks, a refill device, not shown, can be connected to the low-pressure container with a switch according to FIG. 1 or 2, which works automatically depending on the pressure in the low-pressure container .
If the switch is operated with hydrogen, the after filling device can be a Kipp's apparatus or an electrolytic apparatus which, like the first-mentioned apparatus, develops hydrogen when the pressure drops. The generation and supply of hydrogen from the refill device into the low-pressure container stops when the initial pressure in the low-pressure container is reached again. For refilling, Plan can also take the hydrogen from a bottle filled with hydrogen, which is connected to the low-pressure container via a minimum pressure valve that regulates constant pressure.
According to FIG. 3, the switch consists of a high-pressure cylinder 110 and a low-pressure cylinder 111, which are arranged next to one another on a base 112. The two cylinders 110 and 111 are connected to one another via a line 113 with a compressor 114. Each cylinder carries a hollow insulator 115, 116 per pole. The hollow insulators 115 and 116 of each pole are connected to one another by an insulating switching tube 117 surrounding the interruption section. Between the Hohlisola gates 115 and 116 and the switching tube 117, metal elbows 118 and 119 are arranged, the connectors 120 and 121 wear.
The switching tube 117 is arranged between the knee pieces 118 and 119 interchangeably. So that nothing is lost from the amount of gas in the high-pressure cylinder 110 and low-pressure cylinder 111 when the switching tube is replaced, the high-pressure cylinder is counteracted by a manually or electromagnetically actuated valve 122 and the low-pressure cylinder 111 by a check valve 123 each switching tube 117 can be locked.
With the switch, to avoid gas losses, it is particularly important that all parts are absolutely tightly connected to one another. In order to allow an absolutely tight connection between the exchangeable switching tube 117 and the elbows 118 and 119, either the high pressure cylinder and the low pressure cylinder are flexibly mounted against each other so that when the parts 117, 118 and 119 are screwed together, their mounting flanges touch each other over the entire surface and the sealing rings 24 and 125 located between the mounting flanges are evenly compressed.
Instead of the Zy cylinder 110 and 111 yielding against each other. However, as is shown in FIG. 3, the switching tube can also be connected via a flexible connection piece 126 designed as a corrugated tube.
The fastening points between the hollow insulators 115 and 116 and the cylinders 110 and 111, as well as the elbows 118 and 119 are made tight by using hollow insulators made of a ceramic material and by means of metal glazes with the cylinders and the elbows provided at their fastening points are firmly connected by a metallic fusion connection, i.e. soldering or welding.
The switching tube 117 and the Hohlisola gates 115 and 116 can be flat for the purpose of a splinter protection with tubes made of hard pressed @toff, such as hard paper or hard tissue. The switching tube 117 is made in a particularly expedient manner from a transparent insulating material, for example glass, quartz or cellophane, in order to be able to observe the interruption path of the switch. If the switching tube is encased in a protective tube made of hard paper or fabric, a window is then cut into the protective tube.
The metal elbow 118, which is attached to the hollow insulator 115 belonging to the high-pressure cylinder 110, is designed as a cylinder 127 for the actuating piston 128 of the switching pin-shaped movable switching piece 129. The metal knee piece 119, which is attached to the hollow insulator 116 belonging to the low-pressure cylinder 111, contains a stationary switching piece 130 formed as a hollow contact. The actuating piston 128 is a hollow piston and is in the switched-on position shown by a closing spring 131 located in it pressed against a stop 132 located in the cylinder 127.
In the multi-pole switch, the hollow insulators 115 of the high-pressure cylinder sit on an intermediate cylinder 133 which is connected to the high-pressure cylinder 110 via a tube 134 that can be closed by the valve 122. When the valve 122 is opened, the extinguishing agent occurs through the hollow insulators 115 into the switching tube 117 of each pole. By the high tension extinguishing agent of Actuate supply piston 128 of each switching pin 129 is moved against its closing spring 131 to the left and thereby the switching pin 129 pulled out of the hollow contact 130 and removed from it.
The arc drawn is extinguished by the extinguishing agent flowing out of the switching tube through the hollow contact 130 and thereby relaxing, which passes through the knee 119 and the hollow insulator 116 into the low-pressure cylinder 111. The check valve 123 opens.
So that the high-tension extinguishing agent can relax when it flows out of the expedient nozzle-shaped hollow contact l30, the hollow insulator 116 and the knee 119 have a significantly larger inside width than the hollow insulator 115. In the knee 119 A devices are provided for cooling the extinguishing agent heated by the arc in order to avoid damage to the hollow insulator 116 and the non-return valve 123. The facilities consist, for example, of a plurality of parallel walls 135 that form the. Divide the cavity of the knee 119 in its longitudinal direction.
A locking lever 136 which is rotatably mounted in the knee piece 118 and to which an insulating rod 137 is articulated is used to hold the actuating piston 128 of each pole in the switched-off position. The insulating rods 137 of the locking lever 136 extend through the hollow insulators located between the elbows 118 and the cylinder 133 and are connected to one another in the intermediate cylinder 133 by a cross member 138. A double-armed lever 139 is articulated on the central insulating rod 137 of the multi-pole switch and is rotatably mounted in a right-angled pipe extension 140 branching off from the pipe 134.
At the lever 139 engages a guided in the vertical part of the pipe socket 140 magnet core 1.41. 142 is a magnetic coil pushed onto the pipe socket 140. Above the magnetic core 141 there is a spring 143 which, via the lever 139 and the insulating rods 137, presses the locking lever 136 against the actuating piston 1.28 when the switch is switched on and when it is switched off it brings the piston as soon as it is the face of the piston moves beyond the end of the locking lever. The actuating pistons are then held in the open position by the locking lever. The switch is turned on in that the solenoid coil 142 is energized.
The. # LIagnetkerxi 141 is then moved upwards against the spring 143 and the locking lever 136 is brought back via the lever 139 and the insulating rods 137 into the position shown, in which they release the actuating piston 128. The actuating pistons 128 are then moved by the closing springs 131 as far as the stops 132 and, in the process, push the switching pins 129 into the wooden contacts 130. In the intermediate cylinder 133 signaling contacts 144 are arranged for the switch-on position and signaling contacts 145 for the switch-off position of the switch. The signaling contacts are opened and closed by switching bridges 146 which are sensitive to the insulating rods 137.
The connecting lines of the signaling contacts that are not particularly illustrated are led out of the intermediate cylinder 133 in a well-sealed manner.
The compressor 114, which pumps the relaxed extinguishing agent back from the low-pressure cylinder 111 via the line 113 into the high-pressure cylinder 110, is shown with its drive motor 147 in FIG a dome 148 attached to the low pressure cylinder <B> 111 </B>. The motor 47 is switched on with the help of a pressure control switch, not specifically shown, when the pressure difference between the high pressure cylinder and the low pressure cylinder is reduced when switching off. 149 is the removable cover of the dome, which at the same time forms one of the bearing plates of the drive motor 147.
The dome 148 is connected to the low-pressure cylinder 111 via a valve 150. which is kept closed by a spring 151. The valve 150 is only opened against the spring 151 when the drive motor 147 starts up. The valve 150 can be opened automatically, for example by a device operated by centrifugal force. If the drive motor or the compressor has to be removed in order to carry out repairs, this can be done without further ado, since the dome 148 is closed off against the Niederdruckzy.Iinder 111 by the valve 150.
The pressure line 118 leading from the compressor 114 into the high pressure cylinder 110 is closed at its end with a check valve 152. 158 is a tube which is led into the low-pressure cylinder 11, 1 and is closed by a non-return valve 154, and which connects the low-pressure cylinder to a refilling device (not shown).
Since the switch described is closed in itself, so neither moisture into it nor hot switching gases can penetrate from it, it is equally well suited for outdoor installation and for companies exposed to firedamp. The switch described can also advantageously replace an oil switch in a switchgear if the switch is set up according to FIG. 3 and the connecting pieces 120 and 121 on the knee pieces 118 and 119 are arranged upwards. However, the switch can also be used as a wall switch without any change, as FIG. 4 shows.
The connection pieces 120 and 121 are then arranged on the elbows 118 and 119 in such a way that the switching pin 129 lies in the course of the line.
To prevent; A cover 155 is arranged over both cylinders so that an arc takes hold on the high-pressure cylinder or low-pressure cylinder when the switch is destroyed and burns into these holes through which the amount of gas contained in the cylinders escapes. From the cover can be made of metal and then forms a -the cylinder enclosing ge earthed housing.
The hollow insulators are advantageously seen with a metallic inner lining and arranged as bushings in the Zylin derwand. In a particularly expedient manner, the metallic inner lining of the hollow insulators consists of metal tubes which protrude from the insulators and are connected to the switching tube. The metallic inner lining of the hollow insulators used as feedthroughs has the advantage that a deposit of moisture contained in the extinguishing agent and metal dust and metal gases inside from the contact burn does not reduce the insulating capacity of the insulators.
The hollow insulators of the low-pressure cylinder are also protected from the direct influence of the gas heated by the arc, so that they are not damaged.
In Fig. 5, an embodiment is shown in which only the most ge endangered hollow insulators of the low pressure cylinder with a metal lining are seen ver.
To the extent that individual parts of the switch shown in FIG. 5 represent those corresponding to those shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, they are provided with the same reference numerals.
On. the high pressure cylinder 110 is a metal pipe 168 with a valve 122 on top. The pipe 1-63 branches above half of the valve 122 of the number of poles of the switch accordingly. Each branch 171 of the pipe res carries a hollow insulator 115. In the low pressure cylinder 111, a hollow insulator 164 is per pole as a passage for a. Metal tube 170 inserted. The switching tube 117 is connected on one side to the metal tube 170 and on the other side to a metallic knee piece 118 inserted in the hollow insulator 115.
The hollow, stationary contact piece 180 of the switch pin 129 is fastened in the metal tube 170. On the cylinder. 127 there is a membrane capsule 167, at the bottom of which a pin 1.68 extending through the cylinder wall is attached. In the switched-on position shown, the pin 168 is pressed against the piston 128 by a spring 169. At the bottom of the membrane cartridge 167 is the insulating rod 1.87, which is inserted into the housing 155 surrounding the high pressure cylinder 110 and the low pressure cylinder 111 and carries the core 141 for the magnet coil 142 arranged in the housing 155.
At the lower end of the insulating rod 137 is the contact bridge 146 which connects the signaling contacts 144 in the switched-on position shown. 145 are the signaling contacts for the switch off position.
The heat of the gas heated by the arc is absorbed by the metal pipes 170 arranged in the hollow insulators 164 of the low-pressure cylinder 111, the surface of which is enlarged for this purpose by several inner longitudinal walls 166 that subdivide the cross-section of the pipes 170. The metal tubes 170 are provided with external cooling fins 172 for the purpose of dissipating heat to the outside. In the protruding into the low pressure cylinder 111 end of the metal tube 1.70 and the surrounding insulator 164 are located. Lateral openings 160 which, when the switch is inactive, are closed by a piston 162 located in the tube 170 and pressed against the longitudinal walls 166 by a spring 161 are.
The extinguishing agent flowing into the pipe 170 when it is switched off still has a sufficiently high pressure to keep the piston 16? against the spring 161 to move downwards. In doing so, the piston 162 releases the openings 160, so that the extinguishing agent flows from the pipe 170 into the low-pressure cylinder 111, where it continues to relax. After the extinguishing agent has flowed out of the pipe 170 into the low-pressure cylinder 111, the piston 162 is moved upwards again by the spring 161 until it hits the longitudinal walls 166. In this position the piston closes the openings 160 again.
The extinguishing agent is pumped back from the low-pressure cylinder 111 into the high-pressure cylinder 110 by the compressor 114.
In an advantageous further formation of the switch according to the invention as a switch for multiple interruptions ver branches the flow of gas flowing out of a high-pressure cylinder when switching off at the closely spaced interruption points in several, the number of interruption points corresponding partial flows that after flowing through the interruption paths into a low-pressure cylinder connected to the high-pressure cylinder by a line with a compressor.
'To arrange the interruption points close to each other at the point where the distribution of the gas flow exiting the high pressure cylinder takes place, a common fixed switching piece is provided for all interruption points. The arc extinguishing caused by the flow and expansion of the extinguishing agent is designed particularly favorably in that the movable switching pieces of the interruption points are designed as hollow contacts through which the gas flows to the low-pressure cylinder.
The movement of the moving contact pieces when switching off is carried out by the pressure of the high tension gas on actuating pistons which are connected to the moving contact pieces. When the switch is turned on, the actuating pistons are held in place by a removable lock. Here, the high pressure cylinder is closed from the low pressure cylinder.
The mutual arrangement of high pressure and low pressure cylinders can be arbitrary. For example, the high pressure cylinder can be arranged in the low pressure cylinder. A particularly useful design of the switch results from the fact that two low-pressure cylinders are arranged on both sides of the high-pressure cylinder, which are connected to each other by a pipeline.
In order to create the neces sary connection between the low pressure cylinders and the high pressure cylinder, a dome located on the high pressure cylinder is switched into the pipeline located between the Nie derdruckzylindern, which is closed against the high pressure cylinder, and in which a compressor with its drive motor be finds. A line leads from the compressor into the high-pressure cylinder.
6 and 7 is shown as Ausfüh approximately example a multi-pole switch with double break. - 210 is a high-pressure cylinder, 211 and 212 two low-pressure cylinders which are arranged on both sides of the high-pressure cylinder 210 with .die sem on a common base 213. The high-pressure cylinder 210 carries a hollow insulator 214 per pole, which is formed at the top to form a switching tube 215. At both ends of the switching tube 215, metal tubes 216 and 217 are attached, which are guided by bushing insulators 218 and 219 to give into the low-pressure cylinder 211 and 212.
In the switching tube 215 a cylindrical, fixed contact piece 220 with conical ends BEFE Stigt. On the conical ends of the switching piece 220 movable hollow contact pieces 2'21 and 222 are pushed when the switch is switched on. The hollow contact pieces have pistons 223 and 224, which serve to guide the movable contact pieces in the horizontal part of the tubes 216 and 217. 225 and 226 are the closing springs for the movable contact pieces 221 and 222.
Membrane capsules 227 and 228 are arranged on the metal pipes 21-6 and 217. In the membrane capsules there are pins 229 which are attached to the bottom of the capsules and passed through the wall of the metal tubes 216 and 217. The pins 229 are pressed into the tubes 216 and 217 by means of springs 230 to such an extent that they grip behind the pistons 223 and 224 of the movable hollow contact pieces 221 and 222.
The pins 229 prevent the hollow contact pieces from being moved into the off position by the pressure exerted on the front annular surface of the pistons 223 and 224, which is present in the switching tube 215 connected to the high pressure cylinder 210 through the hollow insulator 214 is. On the outside, insulating rods 2, 31 and 232 are attached to the bottoms of the membrane capsules 227 and 228 and carry the cores 233 and 234 of magnetic coils 235 and 236. The solenoids 235 and 236 are arranged on the low-pressure cylinders 211 and 212.
The metal tubes 216 and 217 have inner longitudinal walls 237 in order to offer a large cooling surface for the gases heated by the switch-off arc. The metal pipes are provided with external cooling fins <B> 238 </B> to dissipate the heat. In the end of the metal pipes 216 and 217 protruding into the low-pressure cylinders 211 and 212 there is a piston 239 serving as a check valve, which can be moved against a spring 240 and closes lateral openings 241 and 242 in the pipe wall when the switch is at rest.
A dome 243 (FIGS. 6 and 7) is arranged on the high-pressure cylinder 210, which is closed off from the high-pressure cylinder and is connected to the low-pressure cylinders by pipes 244 and 245. A compressor 246 with its drive motor 247 is located in the dome. A pipe 248 connected to the compressor 246 leads into the high-pressure container and is closed off by means of a check valve 249. Check valves 250 and 251 are located at the ends of pipes 244 and 245 leading into the low-pressure cylinders 2, 11 and 212. Check valves 250 and 251 are designed so that they open when the compressor 246 sucks.
The check valve 249 of the tube 248, however, opens under the pressure of the gas pressed into the high-pressure cylinder 210 by the compressor.
When switching off. the two magnetic coils 235 and 236 are excited, which attract their magnetic cores 233 and 234. The locking pins 229 are pulled back over the insulating rods 231 and 232 that they release the pistons 223 and 224 of the hollow contacts 221 and 222. The hollow contacts are then moved to the left and right into the off switching position by the pressure of the high-tension extinguishing agent, which acts on the front annular surface of the pistons 223 and 224. The switch springs 22.5 and 226 are stretched.
In the switched-off position, the locking pins 229 are pressed by the springs 230 in front of the front annular surface of the pistons 223 and 224; the locking pins thus hold the pistons against the tensioned closing springs 225 and 226. When the hollow contacts 221 and 2.22 are separated from the common stationary contact piece 220, arcs are drawn which are extinguished by the extinguishing agent flowing through the hollow contacts into the metal tubes 216 and 217 and expanding in the process. In the metal pipes 216 and 217, the extinguishing agent heated by the arc releases its heat to the inner wall of the pipes and the longitudinal walls 237 in them. The cooling fins 238 dissipate the heat to the outside.
Due to the extinguishing agent flowing into the pipes 216 and 2-17, the pistons 239 which are sensitive to the pipes are moved down against the springs 240; as a result, the pistons open the openings 241 and 242, so that the extinguishing agent flows into the low-pressure cylinders 211 and 212. The extinguishing agent is then pumped back into the high pressure cylinder 210 from the low pressure cylinders by means of the compressor 246.
When switching on, the magnetic. coils 235 and 2; 36 energized again. The cores 233 and 234 drawn into the solenoid coils pull the locking pins 229 back, so that the pistons 223 and 294 of the hollow contacts 221 and 222 are released. The tensioned closing springs 225 and 226 then bring the hollow contacts 221 and 222 back into contact with the stationary switching piece 220.
