Device on motor vehicles for actuating the vehicle brake and the throttle valve of the carburetor of the engine by means of a common pedal. It is known to adjust the vehicle brake and the throttle valve of the carburetor of the engine by a common pedal in such a way that 'in the first part of the working stroke of the pedal, the latter from the starting position of the pedal to its position corresponding to the applied brakes , is only acted on the throttle valve of the carburetor.
In this known device, the areas of action of the pedal "on the throttle valve of the carburetor and on the brakes by a short dead pedal stroke are separated from each other in such a way that during the movement of the pedal to release the brakes (return of the pedal to its starting position) a condition occurs in which the brakes are fully released and the throttle valve is still closed, which results in disadvantages for starting, especially on inclines, which according to the present invention are due to a suitable design of the mechanism for transmitting the Movement of the brake pedal on the brake and the throttle of the carburetor of the engine can be fixed.
In the drawing, two execution examples of the device are shown. From the first embodiment deal with Figs. 1 to 8, Fig. 1 shows an overall view of the device, Fig. 2 on a larger scale a vertical section of the between's pedal and linkage of the carburetor a switched mechanism with the throttle valve closed, Fig. 8 a Section essentially along the line x3-x3 in FIG. 2, FIG. 4 is a partial view in the direction of the arrow y in FIG. 8 '; FIGS. 5 and 7 respectively. 6 and 8 show respectively vertical sections. in sections we sentlichen according to the lines x6-xs and xs-xs the mentioned mechanism with different working positions of its parts.
9 to 17 dealing with the second embodiment, FIG. 9 shows an overall arrangement of the device in perspective, FIG. 10 shows the mechanism connected between the pedal and the linkage of the throttle valve on a larger scale in the rest position in. Side view and FIG. 11 in the associated end view; 12 and 13 show, in the same representation, the mechanism with the throttle valve closed, which can now be set by the pedal in its range of action to be determined here up to the maximum opening; 14 shows the mechanism when the throttle valve is fully opened, FIG. 15 shows the same with the brake firmly applied and FIG. 16 in an intermediate position during the release of the brake; FIGS. 15a, 1: 6a and 17 represent individual parts to which reference will be made in the course of the description.
In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 8, the throttle valve 1 is connected to the lever 4 mounted on the shaft 3 by the rod 2. On the rotatably mounted in a housing shaft 3 is firmly seated an elastic, laterally nachgiebi ger arm 5. A spring 19 attacking this arm 5 has the tendency to obtain the throttle valve 1 in the closed position, respectively. to press the arm 5 on a thumb ss. The thumb 6 sits firmly on a shaft 7, which is displaceable in the Ach senrichtung in the housing Gela Gert and a rotatably mounted in the housing wall sleeve 8 passes through, with wel cher an arm 9 is firmly connected. The shaft 7 makes the rotation of the sleeve 8 with a shaft pin is guided in a sleeve groove (Fix. 4).
The arm 9 is connected by a rod 13 with a federbeein flux two-armed lever 14 on which the brake pedal 15 acts.
A coil spring 10 surrounding the shaft 7 has pressed the inclined surface 11 of the Dau mennabe against a fixed pin 12.
When the individual parts are in the position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the throttle valve 1 is closed and the brakes are ineffective. The stroke of the pedal 15 from the starting position in the area z acts only on the throttle valve 1 by the position of the thumb 6 respectively. des Ar mes 5 determines the position of the throttle valve. It should be noted that the thumb 6 is so wide that it can support the arm 5 from the closing position of the throttle valve to the maximum opening during the movements of the pedal 15 in the area z, in spite of the fact that the thumb shaft is caused by the cooperation of the inclined surface 11 with the pin 12 moves.
If the pedal is moved beyond the range z, ie the limit position shown in FIG. 5 (maximum opening of the throttle valve 1) is exceeded, the arm 5 slides laterally from the thumb 6 (into position 5 '), and that begins Effective area of the pedal 15, which affects the brakes.
During the return stroke of the pedal for the purpose of releasing the brakes, the arm 5 hits the thumb 16 of the thumb hub when the thumb 6 (fix. 7) is rotated backwards after a certain amount of idle speed and is raised so that it temporarily partially opens the throttle valve. be before the brakes are fully released, afterwards from its bent position (Fix. 8) back into the area of the thumb 6! to get.
In order to indicate to the driver that the pedal 15 is at the limit of the area z and that the throttle valve 1 automatically assumes its final position when the pedal is moved further and that the brake sen is acted on, as can be seen from the drawing, it is useful to go through electrical current connection at 17, 18 itself active a signal.
The embodiment shown in FIGS. 9 to 17 differs from the one described above in that the mechanism which acts on the linkage of the throttle valve is designed such that the position of the pedal corresponding to the closed throttle valve is at an intermediate point between the limits of the Pe dalhubes, while the position of the pedal corresponding to the largest opening of the throttle valve corresponds to the starting position of the latter.
This achieves the advantage that the pedal is guided with the gradual removal of the gas through the position corresponding to the final position of the throttle valve in the area influencing the brake, whereby braking can then also be carried out with the motor switched off. Here, too, the throttle valve is partially opened during the backward stroke of the pedal within the area of action influencing the brakes and in this position until the pedal reaches over in its area of action influencing the throttle valve, so that on the one hand the brake is released with constant partial gas supply and on the other hand, this can be increased to the maximum without interruption. This results in a smooth, smooth starting even on inclines.
The parts of the mechanism explained below that correspond to the above-described embodiment are identical. Reference numerals like that.
The main mechanism housed in a housing is moved by a shaft 7 which is axially displaceable and rotatably mounted in the housing ver. One end of the shaft 7 is axially guided by means of a pin 20 in a groove of a bush 8 rotatably mounted in the housing wall, on which a lever 9 is attached. This is articulated by the handlebar 13 on a rotatably mounted lever 14 influenced by a spring 21, the free end (roller 33) of which is held pressed against the pedal 15.
The rotation of the shaft 7 in one direction or the other will mean that in the following. The descriptive device is transferred to the shaft 3, which is rotatably mounted in the housing and which, by means of the linkage 4, 2, sets the throttle valve 1 into the respectively desired position.
The pedal 15 acts in its stroke range A on the linkage of the throttle valve alone and in its stroke range B from the beginning of the release of the brakes (from position III) in addition to these also on the closed throttle valve, with the effect on the latter, them opening, is maintained until it reaches the stroke range A, so that when the brake is fully released, the gas supply achieved can be increased to the maximum without interruption.
The part of the mechanism that acts in the stroke area A of the pedal solely on the linkage of the throttle valve consists of the thumb 6 and the lever arm 5, which respectively on the shaft 7. 3 stuck.
In the rest position of the vehicle with the brakes fully released, the pedal 15 is in position I, which corresponds to the maximum opening of the throttle valve. It must therefore, for example in the garage, the mutual action of thumb 6 and lever arm 5 canceled who the. This is done in that the shaft 7 is shifted laterally against the action of the spring 10 by an engageable frictional connection, so that the thumb 6 slides away under the lever arm 5 and, as a result of this, the spring 19 (see FIG. 9) the in FIG. 10, 11 position shown, in which he rests against the side surface of the thumb 6. This position corresponds to "closed throttle valve".
The aforementioned switchable frictional connection can be brought about by means of the lever 2; 2 acting on the end of the shaft 7, which is controlled electrically, pneumatically, hydraulically or mechanically.
In order to first set the mechanism to "gas", the pedal 15 is to be moved forward into position II, whereby the thumb 6 with respect to the lever arm 5 held still in the direction of the arrow drawn in FIG . 12 is drawn position. Rotated in such a way that the front respectively. rear end edge of the thumb 6 and lever arm 5 offset next to each other and a lateral movement of these parts to each other BEZW. allow one above the other. Since the spring 10 can come into effect and the shaft 7 so far to the left (cf.
Fig. 13) move that the work surface of the thumb 6 on the lever arm 5 rests. This position of the shaft 7 is limited by the stop of its ring 23 on the Ge housing wall.
The mechanism for influencing the linkage of the throttle valve is now set, which can be opened up to the maximum (fix. 14) when the pedal is moved in the direction towards the starting position I.
In order to let the pedal 15 act on the brakes, it must be moved beyond position II, that is to say beyond the position corresponding to the final position of the throttle valve, in working area B. As long as it is a question of gentle braking, the movement of the pedal has no effect on the restrained linkage of the throttle valve, so that when the brake is released, the accelerator is only released when it has exceeded its position II on the backward stroke of the pedal Has. However, if the vehicle is on an incline and it is necessary to apply the brakes firmly, an auxiliary mechanism that also acts on the linkage of the throttle valve is brought into working position in the corresponding position of the pedal, which opens the throttle valve before the brakes are released brings.
This auxiliary mechanism has a disk 24 which is fixedly seated on the shaft 7 and in the circumferential cutout of which a pawl 25 is rotatably mounted and which is pressed outward by the spring 26. On the pawl 25 is firmly seated a pin 27, which can glide th on the outside and inside of a concentric to the Wel lenachse bent tooth 28 (Fix. 17).
Furthermore, a short arm 29 is attached to the shaft 3, in the area of which one arm 30 of an angle lever 30-31 which is rotatably supported in the housing projects. The second arm 31 of this angle lever is pressed against the pawl 25 by the action of the spring 32.
The effect of this auxiliary mechanism is now as follows; If the pedal 15 is moved until the brakes are firmly on, the pin 27 of the pawl 25 slides on the inside of the tooth 28 until it leaves it (FIG. 15, 15a) and then the pawl 25 according to the action of the spring 26 outwards against the lever arm 31. This path along the tooth 28 is indicated in Fig. 17 by the gezeich designated arrow.
It is easy to see that now from the beginning of the release of the brake be already "gas" is given after rotation of the shaft 7 (counterclockwise in the side view figures) the pawl 25 adjusted the lever arm 31 and this through the lever arm 30 and the arm 29 acts on the linkage of the throttle valve. This action corresponds to a sufficient position of the throttle valve for starting up by the lever arm 31 respectively through the pin 27 sliding on the outer surface of the tooth 28. the pawl 2'5, which is thereby held in place radially, only pivots the arm 29 by a certain maximum amount.
In Fig. 16, 16a that position of the auxiliary mechanism is shown, which corresponds approximately to the position of the pedal II. If the pedal is already in the working area A during the ventilation stroke, the pin leaves the tooth 28, the lever 30 = 31 can follow the action of the spring 32, its action on the short arm 29 ceases, but the thumb 6 is already on the lever arm 5 located in the "start-up gas" position is struck and from then on the linkage of the throttle valve is influenced by the pedal moving in the work area A.
