Device for regulating the DC voltage in systems with electrical discharge apparatus. It is known to regulate the DC voltage in rectifier systems with the help of the Ano the associated control grids by pushing the ignition point of the Ano forward or backward in time. It is also known that this type of voltage regulation is associated with a deterioration in the power factor on the alternating current soap, which becomes greater the greater the delay of the ignition point, i.e. the lower the direct voltage output.
This fact limits the regulation range for such voltage regulation.
In order to be able to use this DC voltage regulation by grid control also in systems with a larger regulation range, according to the invention the grid control is connected as fine regulation with a control by tap changer as rectifier supply transformer as coarse regulation. This combination allows the number of steps on the step switch BEZW. reduce the taps on the transformer accordingly, and improve the steadiness of the regulation, on the other hand, improve the power factor and the wave of the output DC voltage.
The combination according to the invention offers very special advantages when it comes to voltage regulation for very restless operations in which regulation is more or less constant, for example in rectifier systems for supplying aluminum furnaces, in which the automatic regulation is sometimes set to constant current is desired, with the tap changer for regulation must be adjusted very often and are therefore subject to great wear and tear. These disadvantages can be avoided by regulating the constant current with the help of the grid control, while the step switch adjusts the operating voltage to the.
Number of powered aluminum ovens connected in series takes over. In this way, full regulation in the regulation range required for aluminum operation can be carried out steplessly with the best performance factor and with minimal wear.
In the drawing, Ausführungsbei games of the invention are shown schematically in Figs. In the figures 1 to 6 denote the anodes of a mercury vapor rectifier 12, 13 is its cathode. The rectifier supply transformer 7 has a secondary winding 8, the individual phase windings of which are led to the rectifier anodes, and a primary winding 9.
A step switch is designated by 10, which is actuated via the self-operating controller 16 with the drive system 17 and a contact system 20 and the earth contacts 18, 19 of this controller via the relays 14, 15 from the auxiliary network 30. He regertransformator for the rectifier is designated with 11. The control grid 27 assigned to the anodes 1 to 6 are permanently connected via resistors 28, 29 to the minus pole of the control generator 26, the plus pole of which via the rotating contact arm of the distributor 25 in cyclic order with the contacts 1 to 6 and the. Anodes upstream corresponding grids 27 are briefly connected.
The distributor apparatus 25 and the generator 26 are driven by a synchronous motor, the stator winding 24 on the auxiliary network 30, and the rotor winding 23 from the generator 26 via the fast regulator 16 and the resistors 21, 22 is fed. Normally, the regulation is carried out either by hand on the regulating resistor 21 or automatically by the rapid regulator 16 using the grid control.
The automatic regulation takes place in such a way that if the current value to be kept constant by the rapid regulator is exceeded or not reached, the contact system 20 moves out of its middle position. This also shifts the feed point of the resistor 21 (point of contact with the contact system), whereby the phases of the rotor winding 23 connected to the end points of the resistor 21 unequal Wi resistances (partial resistances of 21) are switched upstream. This means that the current will increase in one phase, but decrease in the other and the resulting magnetic flux of the rotor winding is rotated relative to the rotor.
However, since the stator rotating field and the rotor flux form a constant angle with one another at a constant power of the synchronous motor 23/24, the rotor and thus the contact arm of the distributor 25 shifts relative to the stator rotating field, with the result that the ignition point of the anodes is shifted forwards or backwards. In the former case (falling below the nominal DC value) the DC voltage is increased; in the second case (exceedance), however, it is reduced, i.e. the current intensity is regulated to a constant value.
If in the course of operation the regulating element on the regulating resistor for the grid control comes into one or the other end position, then the step switch 10 is actuated for further regulation by actuating the contact 18 or. 19 the step switch 10 is adjusted in one sense or another. These contacts 18, 19 can be easily BEZW in the fast regulator. attach to the regulating resistor.
In order to prevent too frequent readjustment of the step switch 10 even with brief current variations, the step switch 10 is controlled via a time relay 14, 15, which transmits the control commands for the step switch with an adjustable delay. In this way, step switch -10 is only activated if the current deviates from the setpoint for a longer period of time. Instead of causing this delay in that time relays are built into the control lines containing the contacts 18, 19, the device shown in Fig. 2 can also be used.
Here, the relays 14 and 15 are switched between the ends of the regulating resistance 21 and the slide contact on the contact system 20, which actuate the closing contacts 34 and 35 to the step switch 10. If, in the course of operation, the slide contact at resistor 21 approaches one or the other end position, the voltage between this contact and the associated end of the regulating resistor becomes smaller, while the voltage between the slide contact and the other end increases.
With the correct setting of the relays 14 and 15, depending on the position of the slide contact none or one or the other of the same will respond and cause the adjustment of the step switch 10. This solution has the advantage that there is no need for additional contacts on the high-speed regulator. This combined regulation according to the inven tion can also be used for grid control without mechanical regulators, in which case the step switch must then be adjusted as a function of the electrical variables in the grid control circuit (voltage, current, phase shift).
