Liquid switch. The known liquid switch with pressure chamber and pressureless antechamber for the interruption of alternating currents be sitting only one contact separation point, at wel cher the arc is drawn, which ver vaporizes the liquid in the switch and is to be deleted afterwards by the vapor or the gas formed. The arc gap, that is, the opening path, is the same for one and the same switch type and must be dimensioned for the greatest guaranteed breaking capacity. However, this requires large dimensions in the construction of these switches, or the contact openings.
To eliminate this deficiency, several main contacts connected in series can be seen in front of a liquid switch with pressure chamber and pressure-free prechamber, which are distributed in said chambers. According to the invention, which relates to a switch of the last-mentioned type, the extinguishing beam flows at least partially through both the separating distance of the first and the second contact pair and thereby cools the arcs and contact points.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject invention is shown in section and in the closed state of the contacts. The drive linkage has been omitted for the sake of simplicity and the representation of the switch is limited to the essentials. It means: 1 pressure chamber, 2 antechamber, 3 isolating partition between pressure and anteroom, 4 downward opening arcing contact, 5 upward opening arcing contact, 6 in the partition 3 fixed, nozzle-shaped contact piece through which the two contact separation points are connected in series; 7 is the switching fluid reaching to the lower end of the nozzle 6.
As can be seen from the figure, the switch consists of two basically separated chambers 1 and 2, each chamber being assigned at least one contact 4 and 5, which are connected by means of a nozzle-shaped contact piece 6 in series. When switching off, contact 4 in pressure chamber 1 is opened first. - An arc then forms between the contact pieces 4 and 6, which in a known manner only vaporizes the switching fluid and pressurizes the space 1 before the quenching contact 5 in the antechamber 2 is opened by the switch linkage.
As soon as the latter is opened, the steam or gas flows through the nozzle 6 into the expansion space 2, the arc roots and the arc itself being blown, broken through and extinguished from the inside to the outside and between the contacts 4 and 6 from the outside to the inside .
In the case of severe shutdowns, it can happen that the pressure in the pressure chamber has become very high before the contact 5, which closes the passage nozzle 6, has opened. For this purpose, the contact 5 is arranged resiliently in such a way that the opening takes place automatically in an emergency before the mechanical opening rule. In addition, several contacts connected in series can be arranged in the vestibule 2 in such a way that they only open in the event of an emergency in the event of excessive pressure and only remain open as long as the high pressure persists. These contacts can be adjusted to different pressures or to one and the same pressure.
Of course, the switch can also be designed in such a way that these contacts are mechanically opened, namely in such a way that they come into action sequentially or simultaneously with one another.
Depending on whether the pressure space 1 is filled with more or less liquid, so that it lies below or above the nozzle-shaped contact piece 6, which is provided with at most lateral openings 8, liquid can be achieved with the steam or gas or instead of steam or gas flows through the nozzle 6 into the vestibule 2. The dividing wall 3 is recessed towards the middle, so that the liquid that has collected in the anteroom 2 can flow back through the nozzle 6 back into the pressure chamber.
