deren Spannungsabfälle die wirk same Gitterspannung beeinflussen.
Arrangement for grid control of grid-controlled discharge vessels, preferably with vapor or gas filling, with direct frequency conversion. There are two basic ways that make it possible to convert alternating current of one frequency into alternating current of another frequency by means of controlled discharge sections.
One is based on the fact that the alternating current energy supplied by one network is initially converted into direct current energy by means of a converter working as a rectifier and then converted back into alternating current energy by means of a converter working as an inverter.
This type of frequency conversion is about the stringing together of two conversion processes, the external characteristics of which are that there is a direct current intermediate circuit and that at least two discharge paths are always carrying current,
namely one of the converting devices working as rectifier and inverter. The second fundamental way enables the direct conversion of alternating current of one frequency into alternating current of another frequency (Umrich- @ung), i.e. the discharge paths that effect the conversion are, as for example in British Patent No.
2'18i675 is explained, clearly assigned to a phase of the primary and the secondary network. The formation of the individual circuits can be done in different ways, both discharge paths with two emitting Hauptelek electrodes (compare British Patent No. 21867.5), and discharge paths with a clear forward direction can be used.
Of the possible switching arrangements that contain discharge paths with a clear direction of flow, the two that allow the use of multi-anode vessels should be mentioned in the first place, based on the conversion of three-phase current into single-phase current using a rotary transformer in in one case two transformer secondary windings and two multi-anode vessels, but no secondary transformer required,
in the other case two transformer secondary windings, a multi-anode vessel and a secondary transformer, which in this case causes the correct composition of the individual discharge currents.
The present invention relates to an arrangement for grid control of grid-controlled discharge vessels, preferably with an ionizable medium, for direct frequency conversion, in particular for conversion of alternating current of higher frequency into alternating current of lower frequency.
According to the invention, the grid voltage is influenced by the instantaneous values of both the voltage of the primary network and the voltage or the current or both of the secondary network, in such a way that in each case that discharge path carries current whose primary phase for the duration of the current flow compared to the instantaneous value the secondary voltage curve has the smallest deviation.
First of all, it should be pointed out that it is already known to take into account the frequencies of both networks in the grid control (compare the aforementioned British patent specification No. 218675). A control that is only dependent on the frequencies can control the moment The voltage and the current obtained with such a controlled conversion therefore show more or less large deviations from the nominal value, so that it is generally necessary to smooth the voltage and current.
In a control according to the present invention, however, the transformation takes place in such a way that the deviations from the nominal value are as small as possible, so that smoothing agents are generally not required, but can be at least small in relation to the known conversion.
In Fig. 1 of the drawing, the inven tion idea is illustrated on a converter that concerns a conversion of multi-phase current of higher frequency into single-phase current of lower frequency. The one-phase network 1 is fed from the primary network 2 via the primary winding 3 and secondary winding 4 of a transformer 5 and grid-controlled discharge vessels 6 ', V "to 11', 11". The discharge vessels 6 'to 11' deliver one half-wave and the discharge vessels 6 "to 11" the second half-wave of the single-phase current generated.
The individual phase windings of the secondary winding 4 have different numbers of turns in the present case, so that a desired curve shape for the voltage and current he generated is achieved.
The embodiment in Fig. 2 differs from that in Fig. 1 only in that instead of the discharge vessels 6 ', 6 "etc. with an emitting main electrode, discharge vessels 6 etc. with two emitting main electrodes and two grids are used.
The use of two grids in discharge vessels with two emitting main electrodes is not necessary, since one grid would be sufficient to control the discharge, but the use of two grids generally allows the control and the associated circuit elements to be implemented more easily.
In both embodiments, parallel to the discharge paths @ 6 ', 6 "to a', 11" respectively. 16 to 11, the primary windings 12 'to 17' of transformers 12 to 17 switched, whose .Secundärwicklungen 127 ", 12" 'to 17 ", 17"' feed the corresponding grid circles of the discharge vessels.
In order to achieve the correct phase log of the grid voltage, it is useful to connect selected ohmic resistors or capacitors in series with the primary windings 1, 2 'to 17'.
The voltages supplied to the primary windings 12 'to 17' are composed of the primary phase supply voltage generated in the secondary windings 4 of the transformer 5 and the voltage in the secondary AC network 1, as shown in FIG. 3, for example, for the voltage supplied to the winding 13 ' is shown.
Here, as a function of time, curve 18 represents the course of that primary phase voltage which feeds discharge vessels 7 'and 7 "(FIG. 1) and 7 (FIG. 2), curve 1.9 the course of the voltage in the secondary AC network 1 and curve 20 shows the course of the voltage supplied to the winding 13 ', neglecting the voltage drop that prevails between the electrodes on the parallel discharge vessel during the duration of the discharge.
In general, the voltage fed to one of the primary windings 12 'to 17' results as the difference between values of the respective feeding primary phase voltage and the voltage in the secondary alternating current network 1 that correspond to one another over time.
According to the course of the curve 20, the anode of the discharge vessel 7 ″ (FIG. 1) has negative potential in relation to the cathode in the time segments t1 to t2 and t3 to t4 and positive potential in the segments t.4 to t5 and t6 to t7.
Conversely, the anode of the discharge vessel 7 'has a positive potential in relation to the cathode in the time sections ti to t2 and t6 to t7. The operation of the switching arrangement generally requires that the discharge vessel 7 ″ in section t2 to l3 and the discharge vessel 7 'in section t5 to t6 be current-permeable.
Since a discharge once initiated in vapor discharge vessels can no longer be influenced by the grid, it is sufficient to briefly switch on the grid of the discharge vessel 7 "at the moment t2 and the grid of the discharge vessel 7 'at the moment t % tcharging to give introductory potential.
In the time segments t4 to t5 and t6 to t7 the discharge vessel 7 ″ and in the segments ti to t2 and t3 to t4 the discharge vessel 7 'must be blocked, that is to say the grid must have a negative potential in the relevant times, the height of which is dependent on the size of the voltage to be blocked.
It can be seen that the control voltage to be applied to the grid runs in time with the voltage represented by curve 20 and at the same time in phase opposition with it. This becomes particularly clear when you look at it. of the fundamental wave belonging to the voltage curve 20, which is represented by the curve 21 and, as can be seen, has a phase shift relative to curve 1i9. In the present, particularly simple embodiment, it is sufficient to essentially lead the voltage lying between the main electrons of the primary winding 13 'of the grid control transformer 13, which transfers it in phase to the two secondary windings 13 "and 13"'.
The terminals of the windings 13 "and 13" 'are so with grid and cathodes of the Ent discharge vessels 7' respectively. 7 "connected so that the potentials of the grid run approximately in phase opposition with the potentials of the associated anodes. By appropriate dimensioning of the transformation ratio and other design of the transformer, the generally high voltage on the primary winding 13 'can simultaneously develop a value which is suitable and sufficient for controlling the grids can be decreased.
Corresponding ratios and corresponding composite voltages are obtained in the case of the discharge vessel 7 (FIG. 2) with two emitting main electrodes, whereby it should be noted that it must be conductive in both half-waves.
The considerations made for the operation of the discharge vessels 7 'and 7 "and 7, as well as the associated grid control transformer 13 apply mutatis mutandis to the corresponding other phases and discharge vessels, so that further explanations are unnecessary. Should the alternating spaling supplied to the grid circle for safe working is not sufficient, you can also use a grid pre-voltage battery or resistors,
whose voltage drops influence the effective grid voltage. If necessary, the resistors can also belong to other circuits, for example the load current flows through them. The grid voltage then receives an additional voltage component that is dependent on the relevant circuits.
However, to improve the control effect, the grid voltage can also be designed in such a way that it also has additional harmonics in addition to the fundamental waves of the primary and secondary voltage.
The above considerations carried out for the case of ohmic load need to be supplemented if the voltage and current in the single-phase network 1 are not in phase, i.e. there is a phase shift between the two quantities.
Then, if the consideration is again based on the discharge vessels 7 'and 7 ", it is necessary that in the time t5 to t6 the discharge vessel 7' 'and in the time t2 to ts the discharge vessel 7' flow partially or during the entire section must be permeable. The grilles must not have a blocking effect during these times. The result is that the discharge vessels located on the same phase, for example 7 'and 7 ", at approximately the same times, that is to say in both half-waves of the generated.
Voltage, current-permeable are to be kept.
The idea of the invention is explained using a particularly simple circuit that is particularly advantageous compared to other circuits, especially those with two transformer windings that do not carry current at the same time, regardless of whether they are arranged on the primary or secondary side, because it enables the most favorable utilization of the individual parts of the converter system so that it can be called the "natural normal circuit" of the converter.
With regard to the control, however, the individual circuits do not differ, so that the concept of the invention can be applied to all converter circuits. In addition, it is irrelevant whether the reshaping takes place with a rigid or non-rigid frequency ratio. With regard to the control when the power factor deviates from 1, it should also be noted that the discharge vessels that are connected to equivalent phases must be kept current-permeable at approximately the same times.
The grid control described above with reference to FIG. 3 gives the possibility of frequency conversion devices to control themselves. Although this grid control has the advantage of simplicity, difficulties arise when switching on such self-controlling frequency converters, since as a result of various possible phase positions there is a risk that incorrect controls, in particular short circuits, will occur.
As will be shown below, you can now avoid incorrect controls by switching on the individual Entladungsge vessels at the intended phase position. This is done by first the discharge vessels delivering one half-wave of the secondary alternating current and then only then the Entladungsge vessels delivering the other half-wave of the secondary alternating current become conductive one after the other when the predetermined phase position is reached.
In Fig. 4 of the drawing an Ausfüh approximately example of the invention is shown, where in the painted discharge vessels the one half-wave, the two painted Ent charge vessels supply the other half-wave of the alternating current it generated. The cathodes of the painted discharge vessels are connected to the anode of a grid-controlled discharge vessel 18 '. Correspondingly, the anodes of the two painted discharge vessels are connected to the cathode of a grid-controlled discharge vessel 18 ". The consumer 1 is connected between the star point of the secondary winding 4 and the connection between the cathode of vessel 18 'and the anode of vessel 18" .
Furthermore, two grid-controlled discharge vessels 19 'and 19 "are provided which serve to control the grid circles of the vessels 18' and 118", respectively.
The sequence of the starting process is described below: By the start of work, the grid-controlled discharge vessels 18 ', 18 ", 19' and 19" are due to sufficiently selected negative bias voltages 2'0 'respectively. 2! 0 "or 21 'or 21" not conductive. Middle of two rigidly mitein other coupled switches 22 'and 22 "is at the same time the grid circles of the Ge vessels 19' and 19" an alternating voltage with a sharp waveform at 2'3 'respectively. 23 "supplied.
The insertion of the AC voltage is done with the cooperation of resistors 24 BEZW. The use of alternating voltages with a sharp waveform is known to have the advantage that the discharge in the vessels is only enabled when the alternating voltage reaches its positive peak. The alternating voltages at 23 'and 23 "have the same phase position and enable them hence simultaneous ignition of the discharge vessels 19 ′ and 19 ″, the anode circuits of which are fed by a transformer 25, which in turn receives energy from the primary network 2 via a phase converter 26.
After the vessels 19 'and 19 "have been ignited, the capacitors 27' and 27" are charged. Parallel to the capacities 27 'and 27 "is a high-resistance resistor 28' and 2; 8" respectively. The time constants from the, the capacity 2.7 'and the resistance stood 2.8' respectively. Circles formed from the capacitance 2'7 "and the resistor 28" are to be chosen to be larger than the period lengths of the alternating voltage feeding the anode circles of the vessels 19 'and 19 ". It is expedient to choose them to be about three times as large.
As a result of the charging of the capacitor 2'7 ', the discharge vessel 18' becomes conductive, namely approximately at the point in time at which the secondary winding feeding the vessels 6 'and 6 "supplies a voltage positive towards the neutral point. First, the discharge vessel 6 'Be involved in the power line, then the Entladungsge vessel 7' takes over the power line, etc. The capacitor 27 "leads the grid circle of the Ent charge vessel 18" to a positive grid voltage, namely via a circle that can be referred to as a delay circuit.
This circuit contains a series circuit, consisting of a resistor 29 and a capacitance 31. Parallel to the capaci ity 31 is a glow lamp 30 in series with a resistor 32. The constants of this circuit are chosen so that those required to ignite the discharge vessel 18 ″ er Required positive voltage only occurs when the first half cycle of the secondary alternating voltage has almost ended.
The switch-on process then proceeds in such a way that the capacitor 31 is initially charged. At the same time, the voltage on the glow lamp rises, and as soon as the ignition voltage of the glow lamp is reached, the current begins in the glow lamp and generates a voltage drop across the resistor 32, which is inserted as a positive voltage into the grid circle of the discharge vessel 18 "and the negative bias voltage 20 "makes ineffective. After the onset of the discharge in the vessel 1.8 ″, the discharge vessels 6 ″ to 11 ″ are ignited in a similar manner to the ignition of the Entladungsge vessels 6 ′ to 11 ′.
In Fig. 5 the course of the starting process is shown as a function of time, namely the anode voltage enis of the discharge vessels 19 'and 19 ", the alternating grid voltage acute waveform e, 1" of the same Entladungsge vessels, the grid voltage egi s, of the Ent discharge vessel 1'8 ', the first half-wave e, .. of the alternating current generated, the grid voltage egis of the discharge vessel 18 "and the second half-wave e," of the alternating current generated.
Since it will generally be difficult to turn on the switches 22 'and 22 "at the same time, it should be advisable to provide only one switch through which the grids of the two vessels 19' and 19" the alternating voltage at the same time or with adjustable phase spacing sharp waveform is fed. This measure is shown in FIG. 6. A switch 22 makes it possible to supply an alternating voltage with a sharp waveform to the grid circle of an electron tube 33, this being done with the cooperation of the resistor 34.
So that the electron tube 33 is not conductive when the switch 22 is open, a negative bias voltage 35 is seen before. When the switch 22 is closed, an alternating voltage with a sharp waveform 36 is applied to the grid circuit. The anode circuit can be fed by a direct voltage.
In the chosen embodiment, however, an alternating voltage is provided which is taken from the primary network 2 by means of a transformer 37 and possibly by means of a phase converter. As a result of the sharp waveform of the alternating grid voltage, the anode current of the electron tube 33 will also change rapidly from a very small value to a very large value and again to a very small value. The anode circuit feeds the primary winding of a transformer 3'8, the secondary windings of which supply the grid circles of the vessels 19 'and 19 "with the desired alternating voltage with sharp waves.
7 shows the course of the anode current i.33 of the tube 33 and the alternating voltage of acute waveform e, iq fed to the grid circles of the vessels 19 'and 19 "as a function of time. The mode of operation of the control shown in FIG the discharge vessels 19 'and 19 "and the delay circle corresponds to the embodiment shown in FIG. 4.
The only difference in the delay circuit is that an inductance 3.9 is used instead of the parallel connection of glow lamps and capacitance.
The generation of the ac voltage acute waveform 3-6 for the grid circle of the electron tube 33 can be done in a manner known per se, for example with telst a saturated transformer or a DC bias transformer or an externally controlled over-excited tube transmitter in push-pull device. As long as it is only a frequency converter, one will expediently give the alternating voltage of acute wave form 36 the frequency of the primary network 2.
If, however, it is a matter of connecting more in parallel with an existing frequency converter, then it is expedient to give the ac voltage with acute waveform 3.6 the frequency of the secondary network 1 so that all frequency converters have the same phase position. The setting of the correct phase position of the alternating voltage 36 takes place in a manner known per se, for example by means of bridge arrangements.
The advantage of the measures just described over similar frequency converters is that, apart from the small switch 22 'respectively. With the small switches 22 'and 2 @ 2 ", no moving parts are required for the frequency converter. Therefore, self-controlling frequency converters are particularly suitable for remote-controlled substations.
By the arrangement just described, the starting of frequency converters is also effected in a simple manner, namely by placing a single small switch 22 respectively. two small switches 22 'and 22 ". The frequency converters can also be switched off in an equally simple manner by opening the or the small switches. Then the charge of the capacitors 27' and 27" is reduced. As a result, the positive grid voltage is reduced.
Vessels 18 'and 1! 8 ", so that the vessels 18' and 1.8" are finally no longer conductive. The duration of the switch-off process cannot be specified precisely because it is primarily dependent on the time constants of the two capacitor circuits. When using discharge vessels with a hot cathode, it should be useful to make the operation of switch? 2 dependent on the temperature of the hot cathode so that the hot cathodes are not destroyed if the temperature is too low.
It should also be noted that the described arrangement of the two discharge vessels 1 $ 'and 18 "is not necessary. For example, they can be omitted and the corresponding control voltages directly assigned to vessels 6' to 11 'and 6" to 11 " But more than one vessel 1.8 or 18 "can be assigned to the two groups 6 'to 11' or. 6 "to 11" are assigned, in particular when the individual windings of the secondary winding 4 have several taps.
You can now also use the grid control to regulate the voltage of the alternating voltage generated, and this is effected by the individual control of the Ent charge vessels. With the application of the present invention, voltage control can now also be carried out, namely by changing the partial grid voltage assigned to the primary network. The grid voltage can be changed in a manner similar to that used for grid control of rectifiers, i.e. by changing the phase of the alternating grid voltage in relation to the anode voltage or by changing the equilibrium voltage component of a control voltage, which consists of a variable direct voltage and an alternating voltage constant amplitude and phase.
In FIG. 8, the grid control is illustrated on two discharge vessels, both of which belong to the same vessel group which supplies one half-wave of the alternating energy generated. The anodes of the discharge vessels 41 and 41 may each be connected to a phase winding of the transformer coupled to the primary network, while the cathodes may be connected to the consumer network.
The grid voltage is composed of a partial control voltage 43 of the same frequency as that of the secondary network and a partial control voltage 44, respectively. 45 of the same frequency as that of the primary network. The partial control voltage 43 'may be the same for all vessels of the same group and be constant in terms of size and phase.
The partial control voltages 44 respectively. 45 should be adjustable in terms of phase and allow convenient voltage regulation due to the individual control of each discharge vessel.
Instead of the voltage regulation by a phase-variable partial control 411 respectively. 4; 5 can also be a regulation by a variable DC voltage 46 (see Fig. 9) in cooperation with a partial control voltage 44 respectively. 45 constant amplitude and phase with respect to the primary phase voltage. It is advisable to let the partial control voltages 4-4 and 45 lag behind the corresponding phase voltage by <B> 90 '</B>.
The mode of operation of the two essentially equivalent control options will be explained with reference to the curves in FIGS. Fig. 10 shows the full voltage, Fig. 11 shows a reduced voltage e8. namely, the voltage reduction results from the fact that the discharge does not begin until phase position 94 is reached. FIG. 12 indicates an even further reduced voltage a, which is achieved in that the ignition of the discharge vessels takes place at an even later phase position. The possibility of voltage regulation shown here results, as was already explained at the beginning, by a particularly useful individual ..
Control of the discharge vessels.
