Provision for regulating the timbre of the sound reproduced electrically. The invention relates to a device for regulating the timbre of the Seballes reproduced electronically and aims to achieve a more perfect regulation for both music and speech than can be achieved with the usual devices.
The device according to the invention can be used for all audio frequency amplifiers, such as those used for speaking film systems, for radio sets, amplifiers for wire telephony and amplifiers for other purposes.
In the known devices for regulating the sound generated by electrical means, either the high or the low tones can be more in the foreground. The low tones are usually brought to the fore in such a way that a capacitor is placed parallel to the loudspeaker.
As the capacitance of this capacitor increases, the intensity of the high tones decreases. The intensity of the low tones remains the same in this case, since the currents of the frequencies corresponding to the low tones in the loudspeaker winding find a significantly lower resistance than in the capacitor, even when this is set to its maximum value.
This regulation, like the other known regulations, has proven to be inadequate. The purpose of the invention is to avoid this difficulty and consists in applying a control system by means of which any desired ratio between the intensity of the low tones and that of the high tones can be set.
This can be achieved, for example, by placing an impedance in parallel with an impedance present in the amplifier, which consists of two branches connected in parallel, one of which is partly through a current path with a low impedance for the high tones and the other partly through one Current path with a low impedance for the deep Törie is formed. By appropriately choosing the size of an impedance with a low frequency dependency, which is connected in series with each of the two impedances mentioned first, one can set any desired timbre of the reproduced sound.
This device can for example be designed in such a way that an impedance consisting of an ohmic resistance, a capacitance, a self-induction, a second self-induction and a second capacitance, which are combined to form a closed unit, can be inserted more strongly in a Ver that the connection point of the two self-inductions is connected to one end of a transformer winding and a variable point of the ohmic resistance is connected to the other end of the transformer winding.
The drawing illustrates an example embodiment of the subject invention.
In the figure, 1 denotes a three-electrode tube, in the anode circuit of which the primary winding 2 of a transformer 3 is inserted, the secondary winding 4 of which is closed via an ohmic resistor 5, of which a fixed point with the cathode of a following three-electrode tube and a variable point 8 is connected to your grid of this tube. An impedance is connected in parallel with the primary winding 2 and consists of two parallel branches 6 -C-L and 7-C-Li.
The values of the capacitors and the self-induction are chosen in such a way that a closed circuit formed by the elements L, C on a frequency in the upper part of the audibility range and a circuit formed by L and C on a frequency in the lower part of the audibility range Frequency is matched.
In the figure, the resistors 7 and 6 are illustrated as parts of a potentiometer with a sliding contact 9. By moving the sliding contact, the values of the resistors 7 and 6 can be changed within wide limits. If 7 is very small, the path 7-a-Li has a low impedance for the low frequencies, while the path 6-'CL, if the potentiometer has a high resistance, forms an infinitely large resistance for practically all high frequencies . In this case, the low frequencies do not come through. To the extent that the sliding contact 9 is shifted more to the left, the low notes gain more intensity.
In the position in which the resistors 7 and 6 are the same size, the entire range is reproduced vigorously if the resistances were selected in a suitable manner with regard to the impedances Li - Ci and LC who are. If the sliding contact 9 is shifted even more to the left, the high tones decrease more and more in the again given sound, until finally, when the resistance 6 is zero, practically only the low frequencies are left.
The switched via the secondary winding resistor 5 is used to adjust the intensity. It enables all frequencies to be weakened or amplified to the same extent at the same time.
It has been found that the device described gives the opportunity to significantly improve the intelligibility of the spoken word. As a rule, it is desirable to select the tone color on the high side when speaking, while the tone color is generally to be selected somewhat on the low side when playing music.
The sliding contact 9 can be made displaceable with the aid of a button which, by simply turning, allows you to set any desired tone color.
