La fig. 1 est une vue par l'arrière d'un instrument à essayer les filaments de tubes et constituant une première forme d'exécution: le couvercle de fond est supposé ôté et cer taines parties sont représentées en coupe; La fig. 2 est une coupe en élévation laté rale, la fig. 8 une vue par l'arrière montrant certaines pièces internes en traits pointillés et la fig. 4 une vue de face, de l'instrument représenté par la fig. 1;
Les fig. 5 et 6 sont des vues par l'arrière d'une deuxième forme de l'instrument adap tée à l'essai des batteries de haute et de basse tension -en même temps -qu'à l'essai .des fila- 3nents de tubes; la fig. 5 montre l'appa reil sans couvercle et la fig. 6 le montre avec le couvercle en place, mais avec certaine pièces internes représentées en traits poin tillés;
Electrical measuring instrument. The present invention relates to an electrical measuring instrument in which the indicator member moves under. the action of an electric current. This instrument is charac terized -in that it comprises a thermionic tube support and a battery whose poles are connected to the sockets of the tube plugs, in such a way that the battery discharges into the filament and that said indicating member gives an indication if the filament is in good condition.
The instrument may only be used for checking the filaments or may include ordinary means. the measurement of potential differences and intensities.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, three embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a view from the rear of an instrument for testing the filaments of tubes and constituting a first embodiment: the bottom cover is supposed to be removed and certain parts are shown in section; Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation, FIG. 8 a rear view showing certain internal parts in dotted lines and FIG. 4 a front view of the instrument shown in FIG. 1;
Figs. 5 and 6 are rear views of a second form of the instrument suitable for testing high and low voltage batteries - at the same time - testing. tubes; fig. 5 shows the appliance without a cover and FIG. 6 shows it with the cover in place, but with certain internal parts shown in dotted lines;
Fig. 7 is a rear view without a cover and FIG. 8 a side section and elevation of a modified construction of the instrument shown in FIGS. 5 and 6: Fig. 9 shows the dial or the face of the instrument shown in FIGS. 5, 6, 7 and 8.
The same reference letters in the various views indicate the same or similar parts.
In fig. 1 to 4, the instrument, in the form of a watch, comprises a box a into the interior of which penetrates a metallic tube b capable of containing an electric battery c. The cap d, of the tube b attaches to the box a and makes contact with the terminal e of the battery. A spring f makes contact with the other pole of the battery and has a conductor g in connection, with it and with one of the ends of the coil h of the apparatus whose needle ia its shaft arranged in the manner known.
The other end of the coil h is connected by the trimmer j to the blade 7c, m is the permanent magnet of the device.
The bottom n or rear cover of the inst.rumrnt is drilled with holes o, p . Intended to receive the plugs of the thermionic tubes to be tested.
The -two holes o which receive the filament plugs contain metal guns connected with two spring blades q, r, the blade q making contact with the tube b, and, thus, by the plug d, with the terminal e of the battery, while the blade r contacts the spring Ic .
Thus, when a tube has its plugs placed in the holes o, p, , its filament is in circuit with the battery c and the. coil h. of the device.
Therefore, if the filament is in tact, an indication will be given by the guide i on the scale s on the face of the instrument.
If necessary, a plug similar to d can be provided and fitted in the box on the opposite side, at the other end of the tube b. so that, since the tube can be opened on either side, the battery can be removed by pushing it with a tool when it has to be renewed. The instrument shown in fig. 5 and 6 is suitable for measuring the voltage of high and low voltage batteries and the current of the high voltage battery in milliamps.
For this purpose, a flexible conductor t is taken from the pendant neck 2i, which is insulated from the box a. On the box, and around it, are also arranged the isolated terminals v, w, x and y. If the two terminals v and iv are connected with voltage battery, the instrument indicates the intensity of the current in milliamps. The internal circuit then passes through the terminal v connected to the pendant ii, the coil la, the blade f, and. the pointed terminal y connected to terminal iv.
It is also possible, by using the same circuit f-h-u and .pci using the conductor t and the tip ii. measure the voltage of a low voltage battery.
To measure the voltage of a J) attc! - rie of high tension, one makes use, with 'the same conductor t of the terminal x, the internal circuit then passing by the coil of resistance: : - tance z. the coil h ,, and the pendant if. To check the filament of a thermionic tube, the latter is. stuck in the holes of the. pla that from the bottom.
The internal circuit completed by the filament of the tube then comprises the .lame cq, the tube b and a pole of the battery, the leaf spring f, the coil h. the pendant i4 and: the blade 2 which engages partially on said. while the cover is in place, which blade is attached to the barrel of one of the terminals o inside the bottom.
Instead of the fixed terminals v, w and y, flexible conductors can be used for testing.
In the instrument of fig. 7 and 8, the battery c -est carried in claw-springs on a partition plate 9 integral with the box, which plate also carries the tubular terminals o intended to receive the plugs of the tubes. The rear cover fits over said drilled terminals, as shown.
In fig. 9, 5 indicates l @ scale - to. indeed without divisions - suitable for testing thermionic tube filaments, 6 the scale corresponding to the measurement of low voltages, 7 the scale corresponding to the test of high voltage batteries and 8 the scale which gives the measurement in milliamps for the currents of the high voltage batteries.
